[MoFA] Now recruiting ambassadors!

Day 1,846, 05:52 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

Applications are now open to all eUK citizens. Apply Now!

The ambassador program will be set up like a mentorship program, we want to invest in our young and aspiring population that want to get involved in foreign affairs. In exchange, we want some in depth and interesting information on foreign countries that can better direct our foreign policy as a whole. Additionally, we hope that the ambassadors can help improve relations with many countries.

There are many of the finer details of a country that ministers just can’t always know. For instance what the political opposition in a country thinks, and what regions they consider valuable culturally, and what their goals are. A good ambassador will know these things when called upon, and can be called upon as an expert witness during planning sessions of the higher government.

Additionally we can never underestimate how valuable having someone to talk to is. Simply seeing the Serbian ambassador on our IRC channel brings me a smile and makes me more fond of Serbia. Becoming friends with him brings a huge boost to our relations.

As such, we need people. Preferably people with a little time to dedicate, that would like to help us and gain experience.

Your experience would likely be as follows:
-Apply
-Hear back in a few days, get assigned a country, and contact information for a minister that will be your mentor.
-The mentor will point you to the forum and irc channel of the country. When applicable the mentor will also introduce you to some important people if they know them.
-Make contact with the foreign government, introduce yourself, try to convince them that the eUK is great and friendly with them. Also post on their forum, there is almost always an ambassador section, offer to answer questions (contact your mentor if you need help answering them).
-From here it is your game, you can focus on research or focus on answering questions on their forum, or focus on making friends with them on IRC. You will need to interview some of them.
-We expect you to report back to your mentor periodically. Your ultimate goal is to write articles for us, so that everyone in the eUK gets to learn lots about your country.

We don’t plan to reject too many applicants, since the idea is to train new and active people, so please submit an application.

Note that it is not required to move to a country to which you are an ambassador. You may though, if you want.
