[MoFA] Emperor Keers: "So Many Interviews!"

Day 1,456, 16:38 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

Hello there eUK and the world!
This article will feature an interview with Iain Keers, ONE Secretary General, former UK Prime Minister and citizen. I apologise for the lack of content. The admins have once again derp'd the media module.

Hello there, Iain! How are you settling in as ONE SG?
Just fine. Though you never really settle into this job- the nature of it is that you are the final authority, and that means people are harassing you all the time about decisions they don’t want to make. Basically my job is to take the blame and dish out the credit. It’s pretty thankless, and that’s probably why so many SGs are quiet in their terms- trying to avoid people. I’m comfortable making difficult decisions though, and I hope people know that however I decide I’ve weighed the options and acted without bias. In some ways, coming from outside ONE helps me there.

What changes have you made to ONE since becoming SG?
Well a lot of the changes have been subtle ones. It’s a lot more active than it was. We’re actually engaging with new ideas, not just talking about them. There have been a lot of radical reforms proposed- some by me, some by others. Those reforms have provoked a massive reaction from members- from those who agree 100% to those who are screaming the house down. But either way, people are active and thinking for the first time in months beyond the status quo. Everyone knows ONE is a powerhouse, but it has the potential to become a well organised global alliance not just a powerful regional one.

What do you think of the situation between Turkey and many ONE nations?
What can I say? I have spent most of my life fighting for Turkey, as an ally. I had a lot of good friends there, most of whom are dead now. I know Teknik from way back, and a bunch of other older Turkish players. I was really disappointed when the flare up between Spain and Turkey happened. I think both sides overreacted, and both sides blamed it on their hot Mediterranean blood 😛 Later with Serbia it became about RL for the first time in 3 years. People were waving Ottoman battles in peoples faces and so on. I am disappointed if anything, but I think the majority of people have got over the perceived insult. Look at the facts- Spain is fighting for Turkey, you often see Turkish BHs in Spain. Kosovo is a part of Serbia. Whatever happened in the past, the present reality is that Turkey and ONE are at war with EDEN. So long as we are on the same side, we will obviously cooperate. Over time, that will develop into trust and brotherhood. I would be a liar if I said that people in Serbia or Spain all trust Turkey 100%. But the Turks would be lying if they said that their people all supported and trusted ONE members. It’s something that has to be built with time, and it’s difficult when EDEN trolls are constantly trying to inflame both sides.

What do you think of the recent treaties established by Poland between Germany and France?
Well when you’re a small weak country besides a very strong one, what hope do you have? France is stronger than Germany, so it took them a while longer to face facts. When those two countries joined Terra, they hoped that TEDEN would protect them like Phoenix did. It is clear that EDEN’s priorities are elsewhere. Rompagrob might tank 70m in Mexico, but they aren’t doing it for France. Personally I think that few people in TEDEN even remember those countries are members they’ve been occupied so long. The peace deals represent a realistic reaction to that. France and Germany face Poland alone, so they have to deal with them alone. I think Poland has a very realistic view of the situation- it wants resources from those countries, and a presence in West Europe. It will establish that with as little disturbance as possible. If the French and Germans agree not to fight, they paradoxically get more regions than if they did.

It sounds crazy, but if I was living in France or Germany right now I’d be making advances towards Poland about becoming an ally. In reality, Poland only needs certain regions of both countries, plus a corridor. They could become much stronger as proONE countries, and they neighbour proONE members who perhaps could be persuaded to help them with missing resources. As TEDEN members all they get is continuous occupation-freedom-occupation for eternity. After this treaty they have regions, the opportunity to grow and the protection of a superpower. Why not take it a step further?

Thank you for taking part, Iain Keers

There you have it, a quick interview with the ONE secretary general himself.
