[MoFA-Amb] Monthly Country Report - eHungary

Day 3,326, 06:20 Published in Ireland Ireland by LittleFishy

Dear eIrish Citizens!

It is my great honor and pleasure to introduce as the Ambassador to eHungary. I fulfill this position along with the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs. In this article I intend to present a little bit both in-game and RL Hungary.

Outline:
1. Short description about the eCountry and its history;
2. A short compilation about the society, economy, politics and government system, and military;
3. Short description about the rlCountry;
4. Interview with the President.

1. Short description of eHungary and her history

eHungary is situated in Central Europe and there are originally seven neighboring countries around it: Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia. The original territory of eHungary is composed of seven regions: Central Hungary (Capital), Central Transdanubia, Northern Great Plain, Northern Hungary, Southern Great Plain, Southern Transdanubia, and Western Transdanubia. eHungary has been involved in almost every important World War in eRepublik. Recently eHungary attacked eRomania that has ended in favor of the latter one. The two eCountries have always been considered as adversaries since the beginning of this game due to RL historical reasons (see more in Chapter 3). eHungary is a member of Pacifica alliance.

2. A short compilation about eHungary`s society, economy, politics and government system, and military

Society: eHungary has currently 2,085 active citizens which is about 3.3 % of the total population. (In comparison, eIreland has 192, which is 0.3 % of the total population). eHungary has currently 10 regions, but it had a lot more not a long time ago, so due to the NAP (will be discussed below) the number of its regions will soon increase.

Economy: the local currency of eHungary is HUF (Hungarian Forint). The minimum and maximum daily income of the country is between 5,800 and 22,000 cc. However, these data are driven from the current situation`s matrix, when many regions of the country are conquered by eRomania, therefore it does not represent eHungary`s average daily income throughout the whole year. (In comparison, eRomania`s current daily income is between 250,000 and 400,000 cc, while eIreland`s is between 2,300 and 7,000 cc.)

Politics and government system: eHungary`s current president is Jaca23 (you can read an interview with him below.) He was elected with 36.68 % of the total votes. 766 citizens voted during the presidential elections, which represents a little bit more than one-third of the country`s total population. (In comparison, 81 eIrish citizens voted during the last election, which represents a little bit less than the half of eIre`s total population.) The great majority of the current political and military leadership is from A KARD (“The Sword”) party. Interestingly enough, the party itself is not among the five biggest parties. Related to the recent war and the NAP that was signed between eHungary and eRomania, there is an increasing opposition among the eHungarian population who were against sitting down at the bargaining table with the counterpart.

Military: eHungary is the member of Pacifica alliance and one of the country`s strongest ally is ePoland. eHungary had recently several successful campaigns (e.g. against eSpain) and for a short period the country even evolved to an empire. Nevertheless, the previous leadership (with the approval of the congress) had decided to start a war against eRomania a month ago, which ended up by the loss of all eHungarian original regions to eRomania. The conflict ended with a NAP between eHungary, eRomania, ePoland and eSerbia.

The terms are:
I. No direct wars between Romania, Hungary, Serbia and Poland for 6 months (that includes core and colonies regions)
II. Romania will release the Hungarian core regions after this NAP is signed.
III. Each countries will guarantee this agreement. If any side breaks it, they will keep MPP with defender.
The NAP was signed by Jaca23, the president of eHungary, SabreHawk, the president of eRomania, Alex.L, the dictator of eSerbia, Kherehabath, the president of ePoland.

3. Short description about Hungary

Hungary is a country in Central Europe whose history under this name dates to the Early Middle Ages, when the Pannonian Basin was conquered by the Hungarians (Magyars). Hungary was recognized as a Catholic Apostolic Kingdom under Saint Stephen I who was crowned with the Holy Crown of Hungary in the first day of 1000 AD (01 JAN).

In 1241-1242 the invasion of the Mongols caused serious destruction in the country, and half of the population were killed or deported as slaves (1 million people). After the invasion King Béla ordered the construction of a system of strong stone castles to defend the country from further attacks. The second Mongolian strike was stopped at Pest by the royal army thanks to these castles.

After a Turkish conquering army defeated the Hungarian royal army at Mohács in 1526, the country split into three parts around 1541; the Hungarian Kingdom, the Habsburg dominion and the Turkish dominion. It took 150 years before the Hungarians could stand up to this situation, reunite and drive out the Turks. After the Turkish domination, the country became part of the Habsburg dominion, but under the leadership of Ferenc Rákóczi II. Hungarians partly took back their independence, and signed the treaty of peace at Szatmár in 1711.

In the 19th century very important reforms were made. Hungarian became the official language of the country, and the language was renewed and elected to a literary level.

In 1848 there were independence revolutions in Europe, as well as in Hungary. The Magyars tried to remove the boundaries of the Habsburg dominion. After the suppression of the revolution, the silent resistance made the nation stronger than ever before. In 1867, a Hungarian delegation, led by Ferenc Deák finally came to an agreement with the Habsburgs and so the dualistic system of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy was born and peace descended across the land.

In World War I Hungary was ally to Germany and Austria and had to send hundreds of thousands of troops to die for foreign interests. In 1918 the Monarchy broke up, the first government was established and the country became the Republic of Hungary. After losing the war, the allied Atlantic countries overran Hungary and in accordance with the Treaty of Trianon, split up the country. The Hungary of more than 20 million became a small country of less than 8 million. Hungary was now in the shape we know today.

World War II brought more tribulations to the people of Hungary. Fighting alongside the Germans against the Soviets, the Hungarian government eventually tried to change sides to the allied Atlantic countries. Possibly fearing the sudden exposure from the vulnerable flank of the Hungarian plains - perfect tank country- the Germans then overran Hungary near the end of the war and deposed the government to their nationalist allies. Hundreds of thousands died during the war or were deported to German concentration camps.

After the Germans were beaten by the Allies, Soviets took over the country, drove out the Germans, and stayed for 44 years. In 1956 the people tried to force the leadership to stop this domination, and dictatorship by the soviets, but the attempt was unsuccessful and was punished unmercifully. However it did have some effect on the government and some concessions were made. The soviet domination lasted until 1989, when Hungary finally became an independent democracy.

In 1999 Hungary joined NATO, and in 2004 became a member of the European Union.

4. Interview with Jaca23, president of eHungary

LF: Greetings Mr. President, would you be so kind and introduce yourself to the dear eIrish readers?
J23: I am Jaca, the current president of eHungary. I have been actively playing this game for three years, and the political module is the most attractive part for me. In RL I have recently graduated as an agricultural engineer (if you know any kind of job related to this in Ireland, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me! 😃).

LF: This is your second term as a president. What are the main differences in challenges between the two periods?
J23: Last December we were fighting against an adversary who we had a chance against (that we lived with). This year unfortunately we faced with an opponent being better than us in every aspect of the game, this was Adminlandia. Then we fought for our bonuses, now we had to fight for getting our original regions back.

LF: eHungary had to face recently with very difficult situation. How do you see the way out of it?
J23: We need to join our forces more effective inside the country and in abroad as well. Increased coordination and preparation are required, furthermore to reduce the importance of chasing chips (toy money) at all costs and increase the importance of community interests.

LF: Not a long time ago, eIreland and eHungary has started a friendly relationship that was strengthened with the sign of MPP between the two countries. What is your judgement on the future of these two countries` partnership?
J23: I honestly believe that this relationship will remain in the future, too. Moreover, hopefully it will become even stronger. The eIrishmen proved themselves in the battles against eRomania that they are indeed a friend in need, and we will never forget this, if they get in trouble later on.

LF: What other foreign policy views does the eHungarian leadership have?
J23: I would like to underline that we only signed a six-month truce with the eRomanians. Now we have this much time to get prepared and successfully fight back the “script-army.” In order to this, we are seeking to convince the member countries of Pacifica alliance to participate more actively in every campaign that affects the alliance itself. Playing Monopoly in peace and love kills this game. We are trying to stay in good relation with anti-Asteria countries in the future, too, and cooperating with them if possible.

LF: Thank you for your time having this interview with me and informing the eIrish readers. I wish you and eHungary good luck and please, do not hesitate to contact me in case of any question or request regarding eIreland.
J23: Thank you for the interview. I wish a very successful and happy new year to every eIrish player. If eIreland is willing to get closer to Pacifica alliance, they can count with the support of the eHungarian government.

Cheers,
