[MoC] Agallamh: Rás don Arás: Dan Murchadh

Day 1,200, 12:06 Published in Ireland Ireland by The Irish Community

Howye.

As election day looms, here is the second interview, with presidential candidate Dan Murchadh.

Me: So Dan, how are you today?
Murchadh: I'm fine thank you

Me: So, down to business. Why have you decided to run for CP?
Murchadh: Well, after the last election I did very well. Since my votes were so heavily outside my party, I thought not running might be a bad thing after all. The party also generally agreed on our forums that I was an able bodied candidate, so I went with that. I think I offer a lot to the community, I have been in the Politics game so often. Playing for a year or more has given me many times to throw my hat in the ring, so I have experience in Election losses. I think I am trusted with in the community and I think I have a good shot at keep the country stable, if not progressing whilst in office.

Me: Give us an insight into what you have done for eIreland so far
Murchadh: Most of my early time in the game was strictly military, though I dabbled in politics. I helped with the 'Master Plan' for instance and I have commanded military units several times, along with doing the bare knuckles supplying. I fought in the recent Dublin resistance war (I know some people don't like me reiterating it). 🙂. I have been a Deputy Minister of New Citizens also, which was pretty cool. I've had a lot of contact with some people that are well off now when they were young and I think I was a good mentor. I also accepted to be a Department of State Minister in January though that proved difficult at the time, I tried to complete all tasks assigned to me. 🙂

Me: What would be your main aim as CP?
Murchadh: My main aim as CP would be to keep the community thriving honestly. I want more than Military apprenticeship; I want each New Citizen to be welcomed and taught the meanings of all the game offers. That would be my goal, and I want the Department of State and other Ministries on a networked communication level so we can balance out everything.

Me: How would you so that?
Murchadh: Well tasking all the Ministries into scheduled 'meetings' tends to be difficult at times, we're playing a game! So I was thinking of keeping the Ministries active more in open, more articles and diversity, making the #ireland IRC room thee gathering place for young and old. Also perhaps keeping new citizens 'awake' by actually PM'ing them and tracking their progress where appropriate, getting on the wiki etc. etc.

Me: What about from a military perspective? Could you see yourself joining an alliance, or even invading somewhere?
Murchadh: I am happy enough with EDEN, they have really done us no wrong. Our faults are in communication half the time with alliance partners. If we overcome our shyness on voicing our opinions and policy goals to other nations we can step up a bit and be labeled assertive. That is what the resistance wars a few months back were about, direct action!
Invading, direct combat? Well we're a little off par on those fields of study. We can still deploy when and where needed for added benefits to our alliance partners. I am in doubt to the 'Big Alliance' mechanisms, I like to think on a country to country level, and the bond of respect that comes from that.

Me: Who do you respect most in eIreland?
Murchadh: I know so many, and I respect a lot in different ways. Caladbolg is probably that, he and I were often on the same level of mutual respect. Though there are several others very close that level of respect that are alive.

Me: Your best and worst events in erep?
Murchadh: Best would be finally achieving Field Marshal Rank, and being accepted into the Na Fianna. Self endurance! Worse probably being the melting of Irish Defense Forces Companies that led to the wipe. Major public doubt then! 😒

Me: If you were admin for a day......
Murchadh: I'd make Navies!!! and Sea Zone control, so we could reach out and touch some people 😛

Me: Ever consider quitting erep?
Murchadh: A long time ago, I had an account in 2009 and did that. I've never had the urge to do anything under those circumstances again. I have thick skin

Me: So why do you stay?
Murchadh: Well for the personal memories and the challenges presented in the game. I am a former combat infantryman and my glory stories in real life have subsided to a degree. But all the same comradeship and Esprit de corps travel through me in everything I do I guess.

Me: That's a wrap. Anything you want to add?
Murchadh: Thank you very much, you're a great host
