[DAF] Tournament Results

Dear Soldiers,

We had a rough tournament. In fairness, I communicated ambitious goals for our MU that we failed to meet (win in 4 divs). Was I over-optimistic? I dont think so. Yet, we failed, causing that not all the possible rewards were gained for our citizens (especially the younger ones) that put their faith in us and joined us for the duration of the tournament.

Yet, I took a closer look at what happened. Its true we got ass-wiped by the Chilean Army, and I did not recognise this enough up front. My main focus was on the Praetorian Guard, which would have been our natural competition.

It's also true that the rewards were not worth fighting for, and essentially we were fighting for national pride or other reasons. Many people have complained loudly about this and its all true.

On the other hand, I made a comparison between the DAF results and the number one spots in similar countries. The countries I compared are eBelgium, eNorway, eIreland and eThailand, countries that are normally similar in strength and size.

here are the results:

As can be seen, our results in D1 are way above the top spots in those countries. But we knew this, because our D1 is growing to become a force. Many people complained about our D2. So did I. I even used the word 'shame', but I hereby publicly withdraw this. Because if you look at D2, it outperformed every number one spot in the other countries. So in fact this is a very decent result!
Ironically, the same can be said for our much debated D3. Expectations were much much higher, but if you take a look at the other countries, apart from eNorway our DAF D3 outperformed the top spot MU in the other three countries? Is this a bad result? I dont think so.
Our D4 is relatively young in its growth. A few months ago we had only one D4 player, and now we are home to a significant portion of eNetherlands D4. Traditionally our most challenged Division, yet outperformed the top spot in 2 other countries by a clear margin.

So, looking at this, I can only say 'well done all!' We are a MU in progress. Did we live up to the expectation? Certainly not. Did we do relatively well? I dare to say so!

So if you want to help build our MU to become the force it deserves and aspires to be, dont hesitate to join us.

Currently we are rolling out the 'sword' structure, nudging people towards avatars and working several projects that solidify and activate our soldiers and make us a fun and rewarding MU and a home for all eNetherlands soldiers.

This certaintly places things in perspective. Nice article! Could we have done more? For sure. Would it been worth it? Hell no. As you said, rewards were crap and I (and many others I think) didn't even bother spending EB's on this one.

We were outperformed mainly because Chile DID have important battles, where it was worth spending their EBs on. Actually, I'm proud that we did not recklessly waste ours without important battles.

For better rewards maybe it would have been worth it, but in this case indeed not.

and all that with just a handfull of soldiers...... pretty decent outcome but not enough........ if more peops would've stepped up instead of sitting in the bleachers , i think we could've done even better.
But thats water under the bridge in hindsight

Good article/analyses Walhallah!

If you look at the results, especially those in D1 you'll see that the ones making a difference, and that are the future of our fighting force, are also mainly players that use the tactics several (old) players spit on; Train, don't focus on fighting and don't spend EB's in useless battles. It takes time to spread further but is, imo, the future. But we need a lot of players to do that as well.

It's a shame though several (mainly old and experienced) players are short sighted and advice younger players nowadays to fight a lot which harms our future potential. It's also a clear signal almost none of the players that focus on fighting are to be found in the top of the lists which makes it clear their approach ain't the right one.

It's also a shame we still don't focus on aiding players to let their training facilities grow and become a future force but focus only on short term support by giving weapons while we have all the means (and plans) to do it way more intelligent...

I for one still don't regret aiding/coaching several of the players the way I do and that are now a major force in their division, that are making a large difference on the battlefield when needed, and that still are withholding on useless damage to be able to do that even more in the future. I'm proud of you guys. You know who you are. Keep it up, despite what others say!

Maybe contact the players who say to fight in stead of focus on training? I think our mu is on the same page for this matter and all the captains who's responsibility is to coach/guide their regiment also will say focus on training and don't waste weapons and energy, off course you can fight for eNL etc etc but you know that 🙂. Maybe also we have to create an article which explains the benefits of focus on training on the long term. I know we have the articles from walhalla but clearly it is not enough...

From what I've seen they seem to stubborn, or perhaps it's something else and do they simply don't get it. And even though some of them are in DAF I therefore think that won't work. And not only on this issue it seems.
