[Croc4CP] Domestics

Day 2,354, 07:52 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Ayame Crocodile

Why hello again, You caught me in the middle of working the wrinkles out of this but I think it’s about done now.

So today I’d like to share my Domestics manifesto, although you probably gathered that if you ever bother to read before you click... and who wouldn’t? The internet is a mighty dodgy place!

The basics & day to day running

Right lets start with the very very basics. Firstly I am happy with our current ministry set up, if there is an issue I do not believe it’s in the way work is currently divided. More in that sometimes the roles are a little blurred.

So the starting point is to refocus each ministry and ensure that the ministers know what it is they should be doing. That however is little more than messaging the successful applicants and discussing their general tasks one on one (Applications are now open and if you read to the bottom you will find a link).

Secondly and staying on the basics of how things will generally run, I’m going to be honest and state that I do not intend to spend the days searching out individuals to pass tasks on, those who know me and how I’ve done things as PP in the past will know that often I just decide to do the work myself, I don’t want that to be the case as these tasks are the game to an extent and everyone should get a chance to join in.

Instead I will have a google doc that Ministers and Deputy ministers will be expected to check which I will update daily to include what I’d like to see done by each ministry. The tasks in this document will be the basics, I expect ministers and deputies to understand that they have plenty of room for their own ideas and going above and beyond.

As I said, I don’t intend on any large overhauls, no grandiose plans. I don’t want to reinvent the wheel, just get it turning.

The Ministers & Deputies

I kind of hope this goes without saying for all candidates in all elections, But applications for government roles will be approved or disapproved based solely on merit. Also attempting to pair deputies and ministers to be able to cover each others busy days.

The general aim will be to pair young and active players with the more experienced as is most often the attempted case. I want the Deputies to get a chance to see things from the inside as well as learn of course.

Now the best way to do that is just to have a quick one on one chat and explain how things work and what’s expected and then to give them access to the gdoc alongside a group message for each ministry with more than 2 members, just to ensure the full minister can offer help as well as divide the tasks effectively.

Main Domestic Focuses

For me there are two main focuses domestically this month.

Put simply clear communication and some fun.

Communication has been varied for a while now and while I will be putting article writing in the daily tasks of some ministries, I think it’s important to have a simple one stop article for a general overview.

And so to that end I will be publishing at least 3 articles a week with round ups and links to other government articles or articles of interest, Whilst hoping that my vCP will also do at least 1 as well. So that at minimum is nearly every other day that a clear and concise article round up will be out.

Secondly some fun, We have been discussing with eIreland and eGermark for sometime about doing some games and competitions between our countries. I want to see this happen, I think too much discussion has gone into it and not enough just doing and explaining once it’s ready.

It doesn’t take long to devise the competitions, be they minigames or poker or chess etc. and it isn’t all that difficult to communicate between national ministers and organise who will run which competition when.

So I’m looking especially for a good applicant for MoHA/MoEnt (depending on the amount of applicants) to sort this out. I will give a hand but my time is limited.

I’d also like to see running alongside a few national competitions. As a PCP member I’ve taken part in running the Olympics there. It isn’t hard to do and it’d be a lot of fun having just a 4 event contest.

So that’s it really: Articles from me and International & National Competitions.

The ATO

You may have noticed I haven’t covered the ATO and there’s good reason for that (other than I’m still writing it out) it’s a big topic if you want to cover all bases and trust me I do want to. Not because I think it needs to be entirely explained and made watertight to succeed but because without doing so leaves the whole thing to suspicion and open to interpretation.

I’d like to think everyone has seen that the ATO has been successful to an extent and those involved have the best of intentions. But I want to make sure that is the case and not just hope.
