The War Horse Report: Turkey-Think about it!

Day 1,547, 19:21 Published in USA USA by Aren Perry

Welcome to the revamp of my newspaper. The War Horse report.

My paper, in short, will focus on select topics. Many good newspapers give reports of what's going on in general, I hope to focus on specific topics.

Today's topic: Turkey.

What to do- about Turkey?

Through many articles, Bulgarians have made their opinion known. But does that mean that we shouldn't consider Turkey as a full member? Let's think about this.

Con's of Turkey:

#1-

Some say that they aren't trustworthy because they changed their minds, and some say only because ONE isn't doing well, is why they changed. Apparently, 'people' say that the damage numbers that Turkey is putting up now is indicative of a half-hearted effort. This seems to suggest that they are not true-hearted friends.

#2-

Also, the last president of the Turkish government was unwilling to share native lands with other countries in order to strengthen the position of the small nation of Cyprus, which appears to not show a true commitment to the cause of TEDEN.

#3-

Bulgaria-They obviously have a problem with Turkey, and they are a committed ally. Why should we choose a new ally over an old and trusted one?

Response to Con's:

As to #1, I believe the API is currently down, so I'm not sure how they are measuring the effectiveness of Turkey's army without any methods for calculating damage.

As to #2, this is a good point, but they are just a trial member. Perhaps, in exchange for full membership, they would be more willing to give up native territory. For example, if I felt my country would be rented out to other nations whom are not completely committed to my countries well being, I might not want to do so. However, their behavior does not show trust. Do not mistake, however, the actions of one president for the attitude of a nation. I think dialogue on this issue should continue.

As to #3... well, quite frankly, this is a GAME. While I realize that, as I understand it, there is real life issues that divide nations within this game (mostly, usually, language), this game I would like to believe helps bridge some of those gaps.

For example, China and the USA are friends. We have seen Islamic countries fight for Jews, and Jews fight for Islamic countries. We have seen the opposite, too. But why not turn this game into a healing thing for whatever its worth. I can understand tension, but I would hope those Bulgarians are willing to forgive and try to get along.

Cultural exchange, bringing good looking girls together!

Pro's

I used to be an ambassador to Turkey, back in the day when us and Turkey were starting a direct war against each other and, well, things weren't pretty. The issue was over Israel, and let me say, that being ambassador was fun. I found a nice side to the Turks I talked to, friendly and inviting people for the most part. I enjoyed hanging out with them on their channels and getting to know them. This was awhile back, but I'd like to believe that the culture of Turks hasn't changed.

The Turks haven't proved themselves, but leaving them as a trial member for too long will only cause them to be hesitant towards us, too. We both, if this will work out, need to be putting more trust in each other. Indeed, without a doubt, they are a major player. I think there is room for them within our alliance. Right now, we are facing more pressure from ONE than we have for awhile and to keep them down we're going to need help.

Second to last, as the nation of the USA, we have developed a great understanding with the culture of INCI. While I believe INCI and the Turkish nation are seperate, I believe that we have a vested interest in building better relations with Turkey. Even outside of the alliance, perhaps, an understanding with a nation with which we have a pseudo-intimate relationship with, that have become an integral part of our culture...can we not afford to stop talking and moving forward towards friendship?

As to the past hurts Turks have caused... quite frankly, we haven't been very nice to them, either. I recall distinctly the day when people were insulting, via articles and shouts, “Ataturk” the father of the turks. Making very very offensive jokes at the expense of them. They're obviously willing to forget these things, so I'd hope we can make an attempt, too.

Conclusion:

It's not a picture perfect argument, but that's not what its about. I'm not here to utterly say YES, Turkey should be a member of TEDEN, but I think that we haven't really had a fair discussion on this.

This is about thinking before we let the opinion of one of our respected and worthy allies completely make up our minds based off of previous hurts and real life cultural hate.

Think about it, and DISCUSS!!! That's what the War Horse is about.
