The New System and Can We Do This

I’m going to be a little critical here today about the new election system and politics overall in our beloved country.
Nothing we can do about the new system, unless we throw our toys and pester admin to change things back again. But is that what we really want to do at this stage? The way it works now, the PP can move the candidates up or down the preference list, because that is what it really is. Now this gives a PP a lot of power. All over the eworld PP’s are going to exploit this new system. I’m talking about corrupt PP’s here. I don’t think I have to spell out what the possibilities are of how they can use their power to get what they want from their party members, but to name a few, placing friends at the top of the list, taking bribes to place a candidate at the top of the list, ignoring activity levels.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for some, not all PP’s took the time to take a look at their candidates and placed them in a preference list of most active players being at the top. Why? Because not all PP’s realize they had to place their most active players at the top of the list in order to get them into congress, or maybe they just didn’t care enough to do that.
Approvals:
IA - all but 1 of their candidates
DB –PF - all but 1 of their candidates
UP - all but 2
RISE – none
OOPs – 1 approval 4 non approvals.
Some PP’s just didn’t approve their candidates this term. Is it a lack of enthusiasm, or just ignorance? This just don’t look to good for politics in our country. Ok, this was the first time the new system came into play, so maybe next term things will be better.
I like the new system, but only up to a certain extent. Now you vote for a party and don’t have to move around looking for your favorite candidate. Now this is where I miss the old system. Voting a friend into congress, what is better than just doing that? What was better for a party than showing some goodwill by voting for another party’s candidates to get them into congress to try and prevent some PTO’ers getting into congress?
Both systems have their flaws, the old system was just a lot more fun. Admin is killing all the fun.
We need to spice up our politics. Break away from the hold that IRC has and get back to old forum basics. Shame, even IRC is a graveyard lately. We are like zombies. Maybe our country is just dying, given up hope for the future. Killed by slavery called treaty.
eSA we have to wake up. What do you say. Lets get together and work on a strategy to get our country out of the graveyard and back on the road to recovery.

I for one don't like this new system. Once a citizen decides to run for congress, the pp has no power over them. All he/she can do is move that person to the bottom of the list. It does not matter anymore if a citizen is approved or not. If the party gets the majority vote, chances are that everyone running for congress will get seats, whether you like it or not. Blockers is now obsolete (sic). PTO risk is much higher. If ten pto'ers decide to run for congress in the biggest party...
... And get all of their buddies and multies to vote for that party, chances are that they will get seats. With the old system we could at least run blockers and try to keep them out. Now we are at the mercy of the voters. Only way to bypass this is to colaborate with other parties to even out the votes so that only the top members chosen by the pp's will get in.
Not correct LI, as long as the top 5 parties are safe and they have trusted PP not much can actually happen. As long as party Presidentship is save of top 5 parties it is easier to prevent PTO.
I myself as RISE PP clicked to approve the whole lot but nothing happened, they said approved afterwards. Next day i log on and everyone including myself is unnofficial. Old system is a lot better. New system is just a popularity contest now, not many will vote for another party because they dont know where there vote is going.

@Fhaemita, how do you prevent pto's from signing their names up for congress even if you are a trusted party? No way you are going to keep them out with the new system unless I am being blonde...
I agree with you LI, don't think too much of this new system, but as you say, it's still early days.
As for the treaty, we really are powerless to make any real change until we get our numbers up, it is really that simple. We have the Africa Gold competition, get stuck in people!
No matter what alliance we join, we need more numbers, so let's do it NOW!
I'm with you LI, the new system sucks, but maybe that's cos its new and we know how to use the old one better. However, what I do like about the new system is it makes it easier for newbies to get into congress. With the old system, it was based on the amount of votes you as a candidate got and your exp points was taken into account as well. Therefore it was harder, not impossible, to get into congress.
I urge people in the UP to get on the forums almost every other day. It's worked here and there, the other PP's should be doing this as well if they aren't already.
New system suckssss
A party can run as many candidates as there are seats. In our case it is 40.
If you want to keep a prosepective PTOer out you move him/her to the bottom of the list and run more candidates.
It is easier to control now than it was before. Well, we have some level of control where before we had none.
I also don't like the new system. The real risk now is in the PP elections.
Now PP election become important. I actually like the new system.
