The United Netherlands has a new government!

The new government will consist of BP, LSD and I&W.

There will now be 8 ministeries. Here the distribution of the posts:

Program of the government of the United Netherlands for June 2009

This government will be open to new experiences and to new opportunities. One big new experience was started not so long ago, the merger of the eNetherlands and eBelgium. Together these countries became the United Netherlands. This merger will benefit all citizens. Together we have a more stable production, we have a stronger army and we can use the different ideas and views to improve our society. Therefore we will strife to as much equality as possible. That's why the welcome message to new citizens will be in English. Due to game mechanics there's no room for translations but links to a French and Dutch translation will be added. We want to place a Q5 hospital in Brussels. We will ask all citizens to help funding this big expense.

We will promote to use English as official language in game and on the forum, Off topic and Questions can still be started in French/Dutch. Outside the congress people without enough knowledge on English can comment in French or Dutch.

As more citizens joined our nation and they were not able to choose the name of our nation, the government will start a new and open see if there could be a better name for our nation. If there are good ideas we will start a referendum on the name so people can choose what name our nation can get.

We will hold referenda on issues that are easy to decide by referendum, such as where a hospital will be placed or in what alliance we want to be. A quorum of 20% of voters in the last congressional elections of United Netherlands will be used. If we fail to get that quorum the referendum will not be binding. If there is a clear result but quorum is not reached we will ask the congress if they will agree on the outcome.

Because the BP ministers are quite new to eRepublik every BP minister will have an experienced player as assistant. With an assistant the ministers will learn fast and will be able to do a good job.

We will have 8 ministries but we will no longer have Secretary of States. However the ministers can appoint under their responsibility experts to help them do the job. This way the governmental team is smaller but more effective in our opinion.

All ministers will sign a contract wherein they promise that they will work according to our law and that they will not use their power to enrich themselves or their friends, nor will they use their power to hurt our nation.

If government members are not functioning well or do not act when it is needed, we will help them improve this. If this is to no avail we will replace them.

Home Affairs
UNL should have as few laws, rules, and other bureaucratic systems as possible. They reduce the game's fun and restrict people in their freedom.
This is a social game, and people should treat each other well and in a morally correct way. If this is not so, the person who made a incorrect choice should be addressed in a friendly way, and a discussion should arise to decide what would have been morally correct to do. In that way society will improve and rule itself. We live in a society full of smart people; we do not need rules for everything.
Will evaluate the Supreme court and if it is not not necessary it will be abolished.
Will rework and update the Constitution of the UNL to reflect the new institutional reality of our two former countries. This will include replacing the Dutch used generic terms such as 'Dutch' and 'eNetherland'.
Will bring all the news from the government at least weekly.

Health & Information
Will support the use of the forum of the United Netherlands and the IRC channel. The government is aware that most people only read news articles in-game. But due to the great advantage of a forum (an discussion can be more structured and won’t disappear after 2 days) we think the forum should be used intensively.
Will make regular articles in the media for ‘newbies’ with some extra explanation about the game. This includes fighting tutorials, information about wellness and communication channels of the United Netherlands Community.
Will give information about wellness. A higher wellness leads to a more efficient productivity.
Will make sure the coaching program promotes the Collective Labour Agreement.
Will make sure this is done so in the media too.
Will try to find the best balance between what should be in English and what can be in Dutch/French and guide players in this.
Will supervise the coaching group coordinator Crell, who does a good job. Crell will, if he/she wishes to, coordinate the coaching group as before.
Will coordinate the translation of all our laws in English.
Will promote companies to cooperate so more and optimal staffing (if necessary by inactive players) will be achieved.
Will promote to the citizens to spend their gold on upgrades and not in starting new businesses if those are not needed.

Media & Recruitment
Will be active in real life to get more people active in eRepublik.
Will promote eRepublik in Belgium and the Netherlands by newspapers, magazines, websites and so on.

Foreign Affairs
Will continue the ENAP
Will make sure our relations with neighbours and PEACE are well maintained
Will see how the ambassadors are doing and will check if more are needed.

Defense
Will review the new division program and look if any improvements are needed or wanted.
Will try to involve more players in the army.
Will supervise the General of our army Jazar, who has done a good job. Jazar will coordinate the army. The Flying Dutchmen will still be used in conflict areas to help our allies in battle.
Will go on with the training war Chili-Argentina to train force and and improve wellness and experience.

Finances
Will provide a budget.
Will provide an administration.
Will deposit all BEF that the government exchanged for NLG after the merge of eBelgium and the eNetherlands in DNB our national treasure.
Will start collecting money for the construction of a Q5 hospital in Brussels

State companies & Gold Market
Will supervise the managers of the state companies.
Will stabilize the gold market actively by selling NLG at 0.015 and offer gold for 71.4 NLG.
If only few gold can be used to stabilize at 1 NLG for 0.016 and 1 gold for 66.5 it will be done. The profits in NLG will be used for the expenses made by the government. If we get more NLG than we need, we can reduce taxes to help the economy flourish.
Will search for a president for the Dutch Bank who takes care of increasing the funds available on the bank, through the Monetary Market.

Raw Materials
Will provide companies the raw materials except grain for the lowest price possible and without profit for the ministry.
Will repeatedly promote its ministry that acts not only for state-owned enterprises to purchase raw materials, but also for private companies.
Will look for partners in other countries who want to export to our country. Part of an export license could be reimbursed.
