The Guardian, June Edition, Part 1

This is Part 1 of the Guardian!

Written by Kelly Mahoney

I’ve been asked to write a little bit about, and I quote The Guardian’s current editor, “the CAF's awesomness.” In an earlier Guardian article I mentioned that I found the community aspect of the CAF the most “awesome” thing, but another reason to become active in the CAF struck me upon my return from a vacation from the game about a week ago – it’s really easy to advance within the CAF. In fact, you can do it while you’re away!
What happened a few days ago to me was this. I logged into the game after being away for about three weeks, and then logged into the forums, and reported myself “ready for duty” with my CAF unit. (The Royal Rifles.) The next day, I found that I was promoted to second in command for my unit!

All you have to do is show up – check in with your platoon once a day, or every other day if you’re busy, follow battle orders, fill out your damage report. It doesn’t take very long. Ten minutes, maybe. If you’re anxious to be noticed, start a game or discussion in your unit’s sub forum, hang out on IRC. And you’ll find yourself picking up extra titles quick!

Of course, some platoons have more active players then others, and perhaps competition is stiff within your own, don’t worry, there are new units created regularly, and if you ask nice you can be moved about and increase your chances of promotion even further. You don’t have to be an “old” player to advance, you don’t have to have high in game rank or strength, you just have to be active. That’s the secret! Awesome.

Editor's note: A stellar example of extremely fast promotion is Gucio16, who has reached the rank of Lt. Col., CAF HC, and Chief Supply Officer in less than 2 months, simply for being freakishly active!
