Mine's Biggest!!!

Day 1,113, 07:15 Published in Cyprus Greece by Getas75

Dear Fellow Players, Dear Admins,

eRepublik has always been plagued by cheaters using multiple accounts. This is a fact. However lately, and due to certain changes that allow new players to level up at a very fast rate, thus earning vast amounts of cash in a very short period, the use of multiple accounts has literally exploded.

Recent “Baby-Booms” in various countries have been proven to be nothing more than “Multy-Booms”, as can be seen by the fact that the total population in these countries is steadily declining, despite having a steady stream of new accounts being added each day. This decline is quite obviously due to the deletion of hundreds of illegal accounts each day.

And yet, to anyone having an IQ above that of a mollusc, (no offence intended to molluscs), it is obvious that creating or tolerating multiple accounts is the most moronic thing one can do.

For the molluscs in the audience I shall state the obvious, and explain why:

A. From the point of view of a Player:
This is a GAME. As in all games cheating takes the fun out of it. Both for the cheater and the cheated.

Bottom line: Honest players will finally give up, and go and play some other game that does not tolerate cheaters.

B. From the point of view of eCountries that encourage the use of Multies:
It may seem like a good idea to create thousands of multies to serve a greater “National Goal”. Armies of drones can easily conquer ones’ enemies for free. And as far as the economy is concerned, its great having companies full of zombie-slaves, working for nothing and maximising profits…However: the use of these zombie-workers actually destroys the economy. Any companies NOT using multies will quickly find that their production costs are simply too high compared to those of the cheating competition, and will be forced to close. And any player trying to play without cheating will soon find that the salaries have been forced down, leaving him in an impoverished state, struggling to survive.

Bottom line: Honest players will finally give up, and go and play some other game that does not tolerate cheaters.

C. From the Point of View of eCountries defeated by the use of Multies:
Seeing their desperate situation, citizens of countries overrun by Zombie Hordes are left with limited options: Stay and suffer; trying to compete with Zombies, migrate to safer climes or succumb to the temptation and create your own hordes of zombies to counter…

(It is well known fact that Zombies are better at a lot of different things...)

Bottom line: Honest players will finally give up, and go and play some other game that does not tolerate cheaters.

D. From the Point of view of Paying Players:
Paying players…won’t! I mean think about it: Would you pay RL Money to buy Gold, just to have the crap beaten out of you on the battlefield who hasn’t paid a dime? I thought not.

(Totally irrelevant Women's-Rights Poster...)

Bottom line: Paying Players will soon stop paying and will finally give up, and go and play some other game that does not tolerate cheaters.

E. Special Note For Those of Nationalist Leanings:
It has been Statistically and Scientifically proven that in the game of eRepublik the majority of those creating multies are driven by “Patriotic” reasoning. “I don’t use multies for my own advancement”, they declare. “It is for the good of the Fatherland!”. Apart from the fact that points A, B and C have shown that in the long run such actions are bad for each country, I would add (as these are people who proclaim that they care for their country) that such actions reflect badly both on their eCountry and their RL Country, giving the ideal opportunity for rival Nationalists to mock them and their country. “Turkampians are known for their base cheating!”, cries the Hellian Nationalists in triumph. “They always were barbarians of the worst sort, as we always proclaimed!”…

Bottom line: Honest players will finally give up, and go and play some other game that does not tolerate cheaters.

F. From the point of view of a new player and that of a referrer:
An article I wrote recently about multies in a specific country got a mixed reaction. Among other things, I was told that such articles give the impression to new players that eRepublik is a rotten game full of cheaters. This discourages new players who, because of articles such as mine, quit the game… Although I truly respect the person who voiced this opinion, I beg to differ, as far as this view is concerne😛 It is not articles denouncing multies that do the damage…It’s the existence of the damn multies themselves that will, in the long run, convince not only new players to give up, but also players who have been around for months or even years!

Bottom line: Honest players will finally give up, and go and play some other game that does not tolerate cheaters.

G. From the point of view of Administrators – Owners of the Game:
It may be a good short-term policy to let a weak country get stronger by the use of multies, allowing it to conquer its hated neighbour, thus sparking a baby-boom in the second country, which will, hopefully attract paying players, but points A-F show that, in the mid- and long-terms such a policy is doomed to failure! A product is only as good as its good name, and once a game has been branded as rotten by the gaming community, it is hard to stay alive…

===========================================================

Despite these facts, which are now clear even to Tonicella lineate, who is frequently mocked by other molluscs for being slow on the uptake, which show fact that games that allow gains from cheating, are like a wooden house infested by termites that finally collapse in ruins, the administrators of eErepublik have taken no concrete measures to put a final end to the use of multiple accounts, but instead limit themselves deleting multy accounts as fast as they can…which is just not fast enough.

(Tonicella lineate finally grasps the truth about multies...)

“But what can they do?”, I hear the loyal and honest eRepublik player shout, echoing the thoughts of the labouring administrator, who would have said the same, had he not been to busy checking yet another batch of suspected multiple accounts of players Smartass01 through to Smartass10 to the power of 1.000.000…

The answer shall be revealed in the following section, entitle😛

PROPOSALS FOR ELIMINATING MULTIES FROM THE GAME OF EREPUBLIK

Here are a couple of proposals that could make the game slightly less Multy-riddled (if not entirely Multy-Free)

1. Registration should not be automated. I know that this proposal will have the shareholders up in arms, as they consider the cost of hiring extra staff who will manually approve of each new account…To this my answer is simple: Instead of using staff members or volunteers to chase existent multies, assign the same people to check and approve or dismiss each account before the player is allowed to start playing.

Do not forget that a multy account, even if it is deleted a day after being created, has already done damage: it has worked for a low wage, it has earned a couple of Treasure Maps etc, all of which is profit for its “PuppetMaster”!

This idea may be further elaborate😛 a well known browser based Football manager Game by the name of H[beep]trick, which at some point in its history had almost on million players, uses the following system: Each country has a group of voluntary GameMasters. These UNPAID staff-members have, amongst other things, the responsibility of checking the validity of each new account for their country. Of course there is a second level of control exercised over these GM by a permanent staff member, and I would imagine that any abuse of power can swiftly and easily be dealt with.
What one could point out as a draw-back in such a system is the delay between registration and actually playing. This, however, is not in fact a drawback! The very fact that a new player must exercise patience before actually playing, gives the game a strange sense of exclusivity, which makes it more attractive, while most players will find this guarantee of a cheater-free game well worth the wait…

2. New players should not be allowed to evolve too fast in a short period of time. This would mean that a new player cannot earn a treasure map in his first weak of play nor vote in the elections. This means that someone trying to earn cash or to manipulate the elections by the use of multiple accounts will have to persist in his task for a more extended period of time before attaining his goal. This will make Multying a very time-consuming operation, thus discouraging many would-be cheaters. (I am assuming that the anti-bot security measures work).

============================================================================

To cut a long story short I can only once more repeat the bottom line:
Allowing Multies and any form of cheating discourages honest players, who will finally give up, and go and play some other game that does not tolerate cheaters.
============================================================================
Forgive me the length of my dissertation (although I did warn you in the title…), but I believe this to be a matter of import, as far as the future of the game is concerned.
Thank you for your time and attention.
