Some of you may remember me as Cerb. Some of you know me as Konrad von Tirpitz. But all of you should know that WAR is my favorite aspect of this political simulator called eRepublik.
This game faces stiff competition from many superior games, such as Call of Duty, Halo, Guild Wars, and other popular titles. In order to keep people playing eRepublik, it is essential to deliver a regular dose of WAR. I'm not talking about generic Battle Hero medal hunting; I'm referring to sustained, roleplay-driven war that fuels patriotic sentiments inside of you. Sometimes a training war is helpful. Other times, you need a real one.
I have always delivered war to the citizens who elected me, and this month will be no different.
As such, and in consultation with outgoing President n0s3 and Germarkian pony ilphen, I have declared that Canada will be the recipient of a German airstrike.
Canada is a great target, because they are run by a terrible CP (Rylde) and no one really likes eCanada. As such, might as well be occupied by Germany.

We can be somewhat disorganized. Sometimes confused. Occasionally out smarted. The one thing all 26 active Canadian have in our favor is that we've got excellent credit! 😃 Maybe you get lucky and successfully land, who knows? Chile, Turkey, Macedonia had a turn, why not Germany.

Actually Germany was quite successful in both wars. If you look at the odds they faced realistically. In World War II Germany stood against over 40 countries including all the great powers and held about 5 years. The population and resource differences were overwhelming. Germany could have never won against odds like that, but the fact they lasted so long is a great degree of success. These days only China, Russia, or The United States could even attempt such a feat.
They could have done much better.
Alas, they lost in the end.
You are correct there. Had the German military been running that war they would have lasted longer and most likely been able to end it with a negotiated peace. Germany had the best military in the world at the time and did amazing things considering what little materials and supplies they had. Hitler's mismanagement and interference made it so the Germany military not only had over 40 countries against them, they also had their own government handicapping them.
Can't help but retell old joke...
US WWII veteran takes trip to Normandy. He is sitting in an out door cafe having morning coffee. It is crowded and an older Frenchman asks to share the table. The conversation turn to why the American is there. The old soldier proudly states that if it were not for the US the French would now be speaking German. The Frenchman reminds the soldier that if not for French intervention during their revolutionary war that Americans would now be speaking English. lololol
Always liked that joke for some reason Dill. Those guys from that generation were tough as nails. They went through the depression and they the most destructive time the world has ever seen. Compare them to today's generation that starts whining when their internet slows down. And these are our future leaders...............we're all screwed.
I know some soldiers from more recent wars. They have stories that will curl your hair. I give my appreciation to any that will put a target on their back to protect me and my freedom.
With older parents (he was 50 when I was born) my father was in the South Pacific in WWII. He never wanted to talk about what he saw in the USN Seabees. I understand that Marines are tough but Seabees (adopted from abbreviation CB for Construction Battalion) were dropped on atolls with some equipment and asked to build emergency landing strips. A couple destroyers and maybe a frigate would open up on the atoll until all cover was destroyed. They drop off the CB and leave. As soon as the ships went over the horizon the damn Japs would come out of the holes they were hiding in. It was up to the Seabees to defend themselves, no Marines, no Army.
I overheard him talking with one of his old friends (they didn't know I was around). They started comparing war stories (his friend was one of those that went into France on D day. I'm kind of sorry I eavesdropped. I know why those guys usually never talked about the war to someone who wasn't there. I was like 10 years old and had nightmares. Some of that shit was brutal.
