Hi Again
Nathan Lloyd
Hi Again,
This is now my second ever article i ever wrote. i thought i may aswell do one as it looks so grim on the media wall. this article is only going to be small but what does it matter.
so lets get to business.
NaN
it is nice to see that the alliance is taking off and we got some nice small countries involved, the important thing is we are growing and the australians have got to realise the alliance is not there to liberate australia but instead australia is there to help the alliance grow. If anything NaN shows what Australia is truly about and that is helping the small guys beat up the bullies like eChile and eIndonesia. Be positive eventually NaN's member list will swell and the alliance will eventually return the favour and help us, just be patient.
ADF
We all know that the ADF is a soar subject but it can be fixed with a little open mindness.
I think the MU needs to toughen up and get its house in order and it can be done simply by doing the following.
1. For supplies must be part of ADF MU ONLY
2. Payments paid on the sunday
3. No more funding past lvl 25
4. No More Funding Mercs Using ADF Budget setup a Seperate Budget Instead for Mercs.
How Difficult is that?

I have to say you have done a good job as CP and I hope that you have a repeat of that next term. All I ask of you is please get us more active battles as a leader. Lets repeat the good old fun days of conquering NZ call it payback for being eChilean Lapdogs.
Well on that note I will Hope you will Be kind with your comments.

Hey mate; good to see more intelligent articles; I don't know much but being ex MoD, I do know a little about the ADF, if you'll indulge me?
1 + 3) While I have no problems with an in house supply system, the problem is government budget cannot compete with MU communes; the ADF would be (even more) deserted. As for the level 25; that is an immensely low level, that a LOT of people are going to rapidly pass.
I see what you're trying to do, give new players a boost, but it really doesn't fit with the goals of the ADF, which is defense of the country. During Ranger's term, a centrelink dept, was established, budget allowing, this is the organisation which should be funding new players extra. And, with or without funding, really aught to be contacting all new players.
On point 4) Merc damage is, by and large, a far more important component of Australia's defense than the ADF. You may not realise it, but even if (and that's a big if) the ADF does more damage, merc damage can be focused, timed and precisely applied. ADF damage cannot. Mercs can with a campaign, ADF cannot. Sad, but true. On a more direct note (unless everything has gone to sh-t, and finance structure has been thrown out the window [not saying it hasn't]), the ADF budget is actually a sub-sect of the DoD budget. Take this example:
DoD gets 1.1m:
Out of this comes:
500k for ADF,
500k Merc / IRC supply
100k Emergency
These two budgets should, at all times, be kept separate, to a vast degree. At all times, the majority of the DoD's budget should be in two places: 1) the ADF gets supplied with it's (possible in two installments) 500k, 2) the remainder (especially when we're not pushing a campaign) is held by the RESERVE BANK, and aught not even be accessible. only 50 - 100k aught be held by the DoD at any point in time.
Again, it's been a few months since I've been involved, but it really shouldn't have changed.
Keep up the good articles!
ADF doesn't fund mercs. If mercs are funded that is done via the DoD budget, not the ADF one.
If we only supply those in the ADF MU, I expect many other small MUs to suffer and wither. I don't think that's fair to them. I've spoken at length to people from MUs and I hear that they are having much trouble funding their soldiers atm. I would expect that if we only fund those in the ADF MU, those other MUs won't fare well, apart from Scotty's, who funds his using bought gold.
Atm, ADF only has about 6 people who are under level 25. 99.9% of the ADF are D3 and D4. So what you're essentially suggesting is that we scrap the ADF. If we do that, then I see problems in future with retaining young players, who will simply leave the game or the Country when they reach level 25, if what you suggests happens.
I've already had discussions about ADF with several Ministers and the CP. I'm happy to discuss this further with you (or with anyone) in private if you would like.
Out of the adf members above lvl 25 how many of them are in other MU's recieving funding? why dont the adf actually advertise? i havent seen a advert for joining them in best part of a year.
I haven't advertised to recruit since I became Marshal because ADF has not received a budget for months and it's destiny had not yet been decided. I've recently been told that ADF will get a limited budget next term, and recruiting will definitely happen. Feel free to apply from the Military board of the forums.
Good article like Cyber said .. but the problem is a catch 22
The funding model in the current form is financially impossible given our inability to hold regions consistently and build up large wealth
BUT
You can't fight consistent wars without a solid military base.
The country has to choose and support the CP in whatever decision they make. Whatever they decide, they can't have it both ways.
Psst: Join the ADF here: http://community.auserepublik.com/index.php?topic=19606.0
I can't.. I'm only a squirrel 🙁
Shush you, you're already in ADF 😛
Oh! I forgot 😃
