Paint it any way you like, but the world is full of @$$holes. We only have ourselves to blame.
The founder of our civilization was the man that marked boundaries and proclaimed; "This land belongs to me and anything that grows on it is mine."
When he found people that were naïve enough to believe this s#!t, he instituted rules that weren't part of their social policy. Other people wanted that prestige and the seed had been planted.

Today, we continue the tradition, because it's more productive. (Few people would build a lumber mill, if others could harvest the trees.)
This part of capitalism is generally seen a good thing, unless it leads to a monopoly.
Inclusiveness or the illusion of it, is essential to a thriving civilization. (Especially on a game.) So, why do we have such high taxes, a dictatorship and rivaling political factions?

When the nation is threatened, politicians often dealt with it the easiest way they could; corruption. All power was concentrated, many small parties were victims of, preventive, P.T.O. and it became common to attack the opposition, to preserve the sanctity of the ballot.
Those powers have waned, but the forum remains a catalyst for sabotage.
The ability to censor posts, blacklist individuals and write laws which many view as legitimate, is exercised. This has made many people feel disenfranchised and ended some promising careers.

When I began this game, I distrusted both sides. I may never understand why the eGovernment gained autonomy or why our treasury remains hidden from us. I don't know why we invested so much in one forum. What I do understand is that these laws aren't working, for most of us. They weren't written to create a level playing-field.
The major powers have shifted and we are still bound by the consequences of the monopolies that were created.
