Expats on their own Land!

This might be the last article this newspaper will ever publish as newspaper "from the Philippines"
And it might also be the last time for the press director, and his whole editorial staff to write as natural citizens of this country.
This is because tomorrow, every citizen of this country and everything on this little archipelago, might just be expatriates within their own lands, foreigners within their very hometowns. Just imagine the absurdity of it all!
No matter how badly one may want to prevent it from happening. And no matter how desperately the situation calls for urgent, effective action, one can't just ignore the lingering provocation of curiosity versus a sense of urgency and defiance.
On one side is curiosity. The "what ifs" of a Filipino diaspora, scattered across the globe. Nomads in modern times, a people without a country. Brave fighters without a nation to fight for. And a government in exile.
The other side is utter defiance in face of defeat. Not because we are weak nor we cannot fight. But rather because the country as a whole, its government, its congress and parties are not strong enough, not determined enough, nor willing enough to thwart the Columbian aggression. Oh, but wait, we heard rumours, just rumours though. The Columbians are just there to "save" us...from what, we could ask. Shhhh...from our own laziness and ineptness. Let the Columbians grab us piece by piece and protect us from others. They'll allow us to live anyway...and so goes the pathetic monologue.
And so given this two grim choices. We cannot help but look hardly at our face infront of the mirror. We cannot help but accept the fact that we have allowed it to happen to us.
But at this darkest moment, one can't help but smirk to those in power in the government. To those in favored position in this country...those who have "called the game". Who's in control now? Who's gonna lose?
As for us, who are below. We'll just wait and see how things will unfold. Either way, we will survive this.
So here, let's take a look at the Philippine map, while it last.
Keep Calm and Keep Low
Viva la Vox republica!

It might be high time to change passports and learn Spanish, eh mi amigo? 🙂
From Australia, we are very use to this, and have had constant occupiers, including having no regions for about 6 months. It sucks, but in some ways it brings the community together. 1 goal to work towards, everyone on the same side. The flag does not make the nation, the people do. I am not saying it is a good thing, as lots of players get frustrated and leave, and the amount of new players that stay are reduced, but if your nation is never under threat, then leadership can become stagnant, and occupation is sometimes the kick a nation needs to change.
I definitely agree to what you said.
As for el caso de las eFilipinas, this community is not even a nation (or however eRep is trying to define that term) represented by a national goal.
I know I am very new to the game but I am never new to complex strategy games such as this, for me not be able to see how things are goin' around here. In this particular case, the country has turned into something akin to an enterprise run by mafia or triad.
Most (I suppose) of those on top decision-making body are more like mobsters than politicians. (You most probably know why). They are just there not to build a community with a national goal, but for a pursuit of self-conceited enterpise. This is not something to be taken against the players, though. I mean, it's the mechanics of the game that makes things go that way. I guess there must be a way/mechanics that would foster a building of a relatively genuine "national community". Something that would make PTOs a little more impossible.
