DOI Stock Market Temporary Closure
USA Department of the Interior
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with a heavy heart that I come to you today. IndexInfinity has had to step away from the stock market and other eRepublik duties, to attend to a family emergency.
We here at the Department of Interior are trying to move forward in his absence, however due to the complex nature of the DoI Stock Market we are having to place it on holiday until he returns to administer the program.
Please hang tight with us as we continue to await his return.

you have well over 200,000 dollars, specifically earmarked to specific people. Are you offering to return it upon request? You have full details of stock portfolios, specifically attributed to specific people. Are you offering to value it and return that value upon request?
I don't understand this business about the complex nature of the market. I just isn't complex right now. Money is outstanding. There is no trading and no one knows how the portfolios were being valued. But we do know there is over 200, 000 dollars in cash besides the portfolios. And we know that there was an entire team at Interior taking care of this: "The sheet is managed by an entire team, and all information is checked by multiple people. "
I haven't a cent invested in the market. My interest is in preserving the hope that there can be a stock market run with integrity.
Since when do eUSA affairs concern those with eTurkish citizenship? You make it a habit to troll eUSA articles. Maybe someone would take you seriously if you actually had CS over here and participated in anything. Once a troll, always a troll...
Oliver is no troll. He's right. Now, I'm not that concerned about the money outstanding, but ultimately he has had an accurate call all along the way on what the false dynamics of the stock market would cause.
All I know is that I have personally had issues with him trolling political newspapers in the past. Every time I have seem him comment since has been negative. That speaks troll to me.
I get that he is an e😜at that would like to have his opinions heard. But if he really cares that much about the goings on in eUSA, he should get CS back. Otherwise, maybe be less negative. Less negative would be preferred, as then he would not seem trollish.
In the end if people would like out I am sure upon IndexInfinities return all balances can be reclaimed, the markets are currently frozen as of the last Stock Market Update. IndexInfinity was handling all details of the Market, and while it may not seem complex as we have the portfolios he will be the one who will administer the changes to those portfolios whether they be returning cash currently invested at market value as of the previous update, or continuing to move forward with the portfolios as the investor requests.
We are currently working to get the live form offline so that people do not invest money while to Market is on hold.

You should just shut the whole thing down, evenly apportion and distribute whatever money is left (if any) and apologize profusely for setting up and participating in something so foolish.
I'm invested and honestly I'm not that worried about it and don't feel I deserve any apology. I can still see my money sitting there and am sure if I really wanted it back, I could get back.
i.e. Chill out, brah
I guess we'll see how that works out for ya, brah.
"This is a government program so don't worry your money is safe... unless I drop out of sight of course in which case it is not safe, 'cause the government won't actually take responsibility for it" ???
Just by the way... where is the money? And why would investors have to wait if they want to cash out right now?
Not my concern I suppose but it does stifle any interest I had in this project.
RL stuff can't be helped. If he's got some stuff to work out in his life, it's not that big a deal for him to hold onto my money a little longer than I had hoped. Guess what: this is a game.
Everyone involved in the program knew there was risk of losing basically all their money. But, that's not happening, because Index kept track of everything pretty well. We will get our money back, eventually. However, he did it all on his own. With this being his brain-child, he basically ran the whole thing. So we have to wait for him to get back.
Since I DO actually have money invested in this thing (dozens of gold worth, in fact; not just a few cc) I have no problem with waiting a few weeks for him to do what he needs to do to get his life straight because that is worth way more than any amount of game's fake money.
I assure everyone InfexInfinity will return, due to the amount of money and to prevent the confusing related to larger sums of money. The money was held in an account which I do not have access to to hand out the refunds. Index however has access to this account and will handle this upon his return.
You realize you can't just withdraw money? The only way to settle is to sell, and that only works if other people are buying. At some point people *will* stop buying. If that's today then you are left holding the bag, and it is empty.
That is completely wrong. There is no set amount of stocks. You can freely buy and sell whenever you want.
Don't get all weird oliver. You know how this works, and it's all pretend market dynamics. I don't think that theft is the concern. Just a poorly devised system from the get-go.
Understood. Not worried about theft at all. Simply whether the government really is backstopping this as was promised. Agreed, probably poorly devised from the beginning and if existing investors aren't worried then no big deal. It is a program open to players from around the world of course and I had an interest in seeing it succeed. Kind regards and I will try to take you good advice to lower the weirdness level. 🙂.
But be sure to continue casting doubt on poorly conceived government programs. 😛
You'd think no one has ever heard the name AidenAstrup...
You can't just cash out, clearly. The value in any equity in a stock market is market-based - unless you can sell what's in the account, its worthless. Any actual cash has likely already been disbursed to whoever provided the "shares" for others to buy.
RL happens to all of us at some point. I have no doubt Index will return when his family emergency is taken care of. Thanks for the update.
Guys... He is a troll. Ignore him. He likes to harass people in eUSA politics. Index is a good guy. Real life crap happens. Anyone that cannot understand that can go bugger off.
IF (and only if) something actually happened where in the future everything got "lost" or something, he would have reason to moan. But he has eTurkish CS. Our affairs should not matter to him. And if they do... Maybe he should be positive for ONCE.
Best if luck to Index. And keep up the good work the rest of the DoI
Hey olive if it's none of your concern maybe you could do us a favor and go suck start your car while it's in reverse

I would assume that a plan is in place to pay interest to the locked accounts?
If there is no time table for Index's return, then that means anyone with "locked up" money cannot have that money working for them. At that point hey may have well invest the money into a shoe box under their bed.
The inability to refund players in anyway that ask for it is a giant error in this program and an overhaul of it's control functions needs done post haste. Only one man having full control of the monies is REALLY bad when said man can simply go "poof" and the monies along with him.
Although, this is a gov't program, which means the chance of the money going "poof" is already rather high.
Hampton H. Grumpton strikes again!
That has nothing to do with grump, Simply stating how flawed their system is. I would be happy to assist them with any help they need in the complete overhaul to correct these issues.
"Although, this is a gov't program, which means the chance of the money going "poof" is already rather high."
Sounds like someone hates the government even though they are in Congress.
Anyone that put their "money" in a "stock market" is an idiot, and also is ignorant of the history of these things on eRep. They all bust. Everyone loses their money, except the insiders (who always mysteriously disappear).
true story
I concur
k, will wait, nice program. with time would like to help, but have Congressional duties.
Index just put out an update on the temporary market closure, his RL emergency and how people can get their money out of the market right now.
