What is Dictatorship?
After 5 years of players wanting more Government types and calling the devs lazy, Dictatorship was added to the game recently. Rather than taking over a country using votes, you can now do it in a battle. Now players want less Government types!
A President is voted in once a month, a Dictator can choose to stay or give it to a friend. A country has to have a battle against itself to switch between the two.
What did the eUK Government do to prepare for this new feature?
There was a lot of discussion and a vote last month, we decided to spend 200,000 GBP to make the elected President the Dictator. This was ruined at the first possible opportunity when President Adastros gave Dictator to his random friend Wayne instead of the next President Huey.
What did the eUK Government do to fix this?
Nothing. President Huey wasn't happy but everyone either supported it or did nothing. Dictator Wayne was boring so some random eUK players tanked him out of Dictator. The Government continued to do nothing other than hint at having another discussion and vote.
How do we get rid of these random MEK people who have taken over?
Hey unlike Dictator Wayne, these guys actually put some effort in to rule the eUK! So slightly less random than he was 😉
Oh and Wayne stole the treasury too so they don't have as much to steal as he did.
We discovered when getting rid of Wayne that you get a massive bonus tanking against a Dictator after a few weeks, so they are fairly easy to get rid of if we wait. We will just need to wait for some random eUK players to band together again and end it.
What is the eUK Government doing about this?
Nothing. Congress is in meltdown, with a few trolls like Sambo and Rob just spamming memes, gifs and crap jokes in all of our messages. Personally I've left those messages and can't see them anymore, since any attempt at discussion is ignored.
President Max Blue has posted maybe one article and one message, but isn't doing much since Sambo gave the MEK people a way to impeach him. Fatalix is now officially the President but doesn't seem willing to take it on. So our President(s) both have an excuse to say they are not President and are doing very little we can see.
What should we do about this in future?
One group of players want to go back to having a eUK Dictator like we had with Adastros/Wayne. This is because it would take a group like MEK one extra battle to take us over, turning us into a Democracy to remove our Dictator, then back to a Dictatorship with their guy.
Don't be fooled, some of them want this because they think they can influence the person chosen to get an unfair advantage in the country. If anyone says "Make Woldy Dictator", they mean "Woldy isn't active so he'll have to give me some power to do his job". Like Wayne this person won't be putting in any effort to be Dictator either.
The only fair way is to make the President also be the Dictator then not elect idiots like Adastros who would ruin it by not handing it over to the right person. However I am not convinced that an extra battle is really that big of a deal to a group like MEK, especially since they would have that huge damage bonus like we had against Dictator Wayne.
The main argument for this is that we would have 10 days warning to get our allies ready to fight in the second battle since there has to be a gap between the battles. So if the pro Dictator people can get us liberated fairly soon this week, they have a good case.
If we are still ruled by MEK next week, then don't trust a single pro Dictator argument since this 10 day warning would be proven to be a useless waste of the 200,000 GBP needed to set it up. I think that Democracy and hiding/spending the tax money in advance is the best option.

Surely everyone should be pulling together to try and liberate the eUK ASAP, rather than just the 'pro dictator' people. Whether you like it or not goku, the eUK is infinitely safer with a benevolent eUK dictator, whether that be an elected CP or whoever else.
You can whine about me giving dictator to wayne all you want, but I think I've made my reasons for doing so pretty clear and I stand by them.
I would still argue that a system where we trust the elected CP (and the electorate) with the dictator title is potentially not a great idea since the eUK has a habit of electing incompetent/malevolent/inactive CPs every once in a while. It is however true that there doesn't seem to be a single figure in the eUK who could command the entire eUK's confidence as dictator (who is active).
But, at the end of the day it is simply imperative that we win a revolution and then insert a friendly UK dictator after 10 days. Then we can discuss what to do next; but whatever the choice it HAS to include an ingame dictatorship existing. We cannot simply ignore the game realities
Your words are meaningless no matter how much rhetoric you stick in, as are my words. If you read the end of my article, I set out how we will prove if having an eUK Dictator will help or not.
If we are liberated after 3 days then you just proved that having 3 days to gather our allies is a needed safety precaution and I'll fully support having a Dictator. Obviously everyone wants this, it won't just be pro dictator people supporting the revolution.
If we don't get liberated this week, then what is the point of paying 200,000 GBP so get a 3 day warning we can't make use of?
It took the Anti-Wayne brigade over 2 weeks to gather their forces, including yourself, so the rubbish you're spouting regarding "3 days" carries absolutely no weight to it at all.

If it took over 2 weeks to get it together to overthrow Wayne, how is this 3 day warning of a MTO by having our own Dictator in the way going to help?
it's not 3 days haha, I realise your confusion now. the game mechanics stipulate that after a successful revolution you cannot start a coup for TEN days after, not three. With 10 days warning I would fancy our chances of defeating a coup attempt- we could even get in before any hostile groups and reinstate our own dictator once again.
I think that's the point- eUK should plan financially to replace the dictatorship every month or so. 200k is a lot, but with Work tax around 3/4% we'd be able to manage it

You are talking about yourself right?
Some people would regard me as that I'm sure, but I would regard other CPs as having been far more damaging than myself.
Having an eUK dictator keeps us safe. It would take a few weeks for determination to build to a sufficient level for somebody to overthrow and even then they would have to pay 400k and fight two campaigns in order to take over. It's not a case of a '3 day warning period' its a matter of keeping the country in eUK hands. I don't understand how you don't see that.

If they can pay to tank against A COUNTRY, they can afford an extra 200,000 GBP.

So we're saying that the few hours warning we get is better than the 3 days warning because... 3 days warning still isn't enough? Hm.
Well... yes, what is the point having a warning if it isn't enough time to use anyway? It's not like it's free to have.
If we insert an eUK dictator, they would have to wait until determination built up, pay 200k, win a battle, wait 10 days, pay 200k and win another battle after we've had 10 days warning.
Pretty sure we would have a far better chance of keeping our sovereignty in that situation than the farce of standard democracy we had last week

To be honest I don't know anything about eUK politics, but when you (or the dictator) give the dictator title arbitrarily to someone else, being like "my choice is better than any other" you stop being a friendly dictator, and become a real dictator.
You may dissent about giving the title to the elected CP, and even it could be a fair objection, but the final decision shoudn't be made by the current dictator, necessarily should be someone else, like a Council of Sages for saying something 😛

Adastros, I think you were wrong to give the dictatorship to Wayne not to Huey for the very reason of what has happened.
What you did, even if it can be argued it was right 'for national security' is basically say to the eUK community - "You are all stupid for not agreeing with me, therefore I'm going to do whatever I want". The community has responded for better or for worse and said "No we are going to do what we want".
If you are now arguing for this UKRP plan that Appleby has put forward and they have apparently been "banging on about" (but forgot to actually tell anyone), then I'm personally all for it. It's just a pity UKRP didn't actually put this forward a month ago - somewhere like in Congress or to the other parties maybe?

So I'm asking myself - why was it not put forward a month ago when you got everyone to agree to the Governance Act? A great many of the people who complain about what we do or don't do never seem to have a view of how they would do it.
I would rather like to think this wasn't a tactical gamble by someone to get eUK to screw up? Did they think we would never vote for someone that hadn't been pre-approved, or did they forget about BigAnt and assume the dictator position could just be handed around irrespective of the will of the electorate on the grounds that no one would have the finances and strength to remove the dictator?
As far as moving onto a Revolution and then installing a benevolent dictator, I agree - but the question still remains as to who? Woldy is universally popular, but not active enough. I've suggested in Cabinet an alternative candidate based on pure ability - but considering the role probably needs someone who is passive enough to be widely accepted, their talents, are arguably much better suited to a different role.
Paul - can we dispense with the petty Party Politics for the purposes of dealing with this Dictatorship issue please.
The Appleby Plan is an eUK Plan - not a UKRP plan!
UKRP need to kick Adastros out of your party and denounce his actions in breaking your own legislation/plan.
If you don't do this, how can we trust anything you say? If you are a victim like us, fair enough, but your members don't say this.
The governance act was not conceived by the UKRP party as such, therefore he didn't break our own legislation/plan.
Similarly, Appleby's plan is/was Appleby's and Appleby's alone, Adastros did not break any form of "party policy" by going for the governance act. Besides did Appleby not publish his plan AFTER wayne got dictator, therefore after the governance act?
So we can't denounce his actions for breaking "our own legislation" when it wasn't really "our" legislation.
I think that having a voted in CP as Dictator is the only way to avoid arguments about this really.

I have no idea why you're bringing the UKRP into this. The UKRP had absolutely nothing to do with the handing over of power to Wayne, Wayne isn't even in our party?
The guy who did it (Adastros) is UKRP.
The fact remains that without agreeing on a suitable candidate, we forever have a problem. If a candidate is chose again by force then we may revolt again. Even with a suitable candidate how long would they wish to remain in office?
If people insist on trying to force the wider community, such as it remains, to accept something that they do not like then in time they will vote with their feet and continue to leave and if we all leave because we don't like the way things are going, what are you proposing? Say that's too bad and tell us all to get lost?
If that is the case then we better all just say goodbye and leave you to it.
Yeah they say it's 200,000 GBP for this security, but we would already be onto the second chunk of 200,000 GBP.
It's basically 200,000 GBP extra every time UKRP lose an election so the cost is going to run into millions.

At the moment, the eUK is rather paralysed. This is mainly due to the lack of actual authority, whoever's CP needs to stamp their authority on the situation and get their cabinet working as normally as is possible under the circumstances.
After days of me repeating this in Congress, finally the two MoDs have decided to get to work, which is great. We aren't sure if the impeachment should be counted legitimately, so one of the CPs might want to publicly announce whether they're CP or not. Really, the problem is that a good portion of Congress and the public don't know what they're doing, or who to listen to.
After any resistance wars, we must place an eUK dictator 'on the throne' so to speak. As many people have pointed out, and has been proven by recent events, we are much, much, much more safe with an eUK dictator. There shouldn't even be any discussion on it anymore.
However, we haven't decided who should be dictator, which is slightly ridiculous. Another suggestion would be that we have a separate vote for Dictator, however this could mean that ,if the same candidates that ran for the CP elections ran, we would have a CP-dictator- not a wholly good thing. This could be solved by having the elections far away from the CP elections.
On placing Wolds as dictator- this is a safe enough idea. If Woldy can get a bit more visibly active then he could make himself the definite choice for a dictator. Personally I think that Spongey should be the dictator; Spongey is not only active, but he's super trustworthy and infinitely competent.
How is it proven that we are safer with an eUK Dictator?
Because we had one for like a month and there were no hostile MTOs, we had democracy for a few days and we were MTOed.

I had a chocolate bar every day for like the last month and no MTOs! As soon as I started eating more healthily we got MTOed! Obviously my lack of glucose has made us vulnerable 😃

Maybe so, but the cost of it would have been greater and we would have had two attempts at trying to prevent it. Rather than 3 hour warning at 5am and one battle when people are still running around trying to make sense of it.
No system is perfect, Plato hasn't designed it so countries can't be safe. He designed it for the sole purpose of being a money sink.
