Congress Elections Imminent!

Day 2,438, 20:34 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Madelina de Melrose

Time to get out and vote TUP!

We had 18 people apply for Congress (plus two who filled out the Gdoc form but never did the formal entry bit in eRep, the game rules require that applicants use the “apply” button in the “my party” page).

I’ve tried to balance this – but it’s like herding cats. Every time I think I’ve got it right, I make another change! I’ve tried to give precedence to those who are relatively new (less than 3 terms in Congress) but balance them with people who know how it works.

Trust me, that first term in Congress, all you’re doing is trying to figure out what the heck is going on. And trusting those with experience to guide you so you don’t make a major mistake or even just put your foot in your mouth like I did when I was still greener than green in Congress!

Will everyone be happy? No. If someone wrote an article about wanting to be elected, they got higher priority. It shows they are likely to be active. Most times Congress has a few members who don’t participate at all, they’re just there for the gold. I don’t want that. I need our TUP Congress members to be active, learn, vote intelligently and be held to a higher standard of behaviour and ethics than any other party.

Some of our candidates are in an ePolish MU. That hurt their rankings. I hope they will come home to an eUK MU soon. Nothing against ePoland, but eUK is their home and may have different aims and daily orders.

If you don’t get in this time, keep trying! Work on your name recognition, learn all you can (we are ALL still learning), write articles and participate in the TUP feed. Your time will come sooner than you think!

(BTW, the list has been acting REALLY squirrely on me, keeps defaulting to the order in which people applied, hopefully will be fixed before final results come out...)
