Concerns of an old player and why I left.

Why I am writing this article?

As some of you may know, I am an old member of this community and I have seen it go from being a popular game that was different from all the other multiplayer games but now I have seen go downhill. So basically, this is more of an article of concern about the future of a game that I have not only spent many hours on but on a game, that got me to do something. So, let’s get down to the main part of this article…

Why I am concerned about the future of this game?

Before I start talking about this game I want to give you all a background on who I am and why I left. No, this is not an article about my ego but you will see the point of it in the end.

I joined this game in 2008 and I thought it was a different type of game because of the political elements and the thought of a whole community working together for a common goal. This appealed to me as a young teenager who was interested in politics so I joined it. I left because the game changed into something that is totally unrecognisable to me and even the older players have left because they may feel the same as me. Yes, me leaving might also be because I am in college and hopefully going into university to do politics but if this game was still interesting then I might have continued to play.

Like I said earlier, this game is unrecognisable to me which is one of the reasons why I left and I will tell you the things that are just unappealing to me and most gamers. The economic system is a complete and utter mess which is painful to look at. It is more like a Farmville facebook game clone that has no ounce of originality in it. The thing that I liked about the old economic system was very satisfying. The building up from one company to another; the knowledge that you are contributing to the nation and making money which was the most satisfying thing about the old economic system. The old system was satisfying because people had to work towards buying a company and had to show a level of strategy to keep it running. Now, there is no strategy, which is a common theme throughout this whole article, and that means there is absolutely no satisfaction from earning money. Everyone owns a company which is the worst thing about this system. In a normal capitalist economy, you have the workers and the owners. If everyone owns a company then we have hundreds of companies that are not working at full capacity. This is more like a communist economic system that does not work. The economy was one of the main things that got me excited in playing this game but now there is no satisfaction and there is no strategy.

The political system is another thing that is very disappointing, the political system may not have been the most complete thing in the world but it was still great. Before the admins removed congress people from running in individual states it was very strategic. There is absolutely no strategy in this system where we elect congress members as a bunch rather than as individuals. I remember when congress candidates actually made articles to promote themselves but what is the point in doing it anymore? There is no need to do this which takes away from the community. The thing that went wrong with this system was that instead of the creators of the game adding things to the game they took things away from the game which should never ever happen. The removal of features is also a large problem that this game has. Instead of removing features the creators should have added ideologies and other systems apart from relying on the community to do something. There is relying on the community but then there is relying on the community to make this game fun which is 100% the job of the people managing this game.

The military system, which I have had little experience in as I was more focussed on the political and economic element of the game which virtually does not exist anymore, is more like an idle evolution game with micro transactions than a real military strategy game. Where is the strategy? Seriously, where is it? Because the economic system and political system have virtually been turned into then there are no alternative ways to damage a nation. Everyone just lives in the capital and works in the capital which is insane and should be avoided rather than just left as something that is part of the game. The only reason why people fight for new land is the real-life conflicts that other nations have with each other. I actually believe, which may be an unpopular opinion, that the map battles were a move in the right direction and instead of completely abandoning the whole idea the creators should have expanded on the idea as it put in some strategy in battles.

To conclude this possible mess of an article, this game as it is now is completely unsatisfactory and a pointless mess of a game. There is no strategy in a game that just requires the player to press a button to fight or work. The reason why the community is dying is because the base game is boring. I know that this game needs to make money but this is not the right way to do things. If the people who run this game are committed to this game then they should turn it into a better game that expands on things rather than taking away features as it may cost more money to do but it will attract new players. When a game is amazing and as original as this game once was then people will support this game by paying for it to keep it running because there is a dedicated group of people that are as passionate about the game as the creators should be.

What am I actually suggesting? I am suggesting that the game should absolutely reset the entire economy of the whole game and turn it into a system where everyone does not own a company which would balance out the economy. People reading this may say do not do that what about my hard work? My response would be, there is no point in keeping a system where there is no satisfaction coming out of it. Also, this game should add more strategy in the political system and the military campaigns. Like I said, there is making a game that makes money and then there is a company that is made to make players want to play and will give money not because they want to get a loot box but actually want this game to continue. What game would last longer? I would absolutely say the game that is made for the players because it will give the game new life and a boost to the community that this game needs.

What do I know? I’m just a person who cares enough to write a long article about a game I spent my teenage years playing.
