Bridge the Divide

Day 1,853, 13:00 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Department for Education

The Problem
There has been a lot of talk about the divide in the UK and how to fix is recently.

A quick overview is that the players in TUP-ESO-UKRP tend to work together and the players in UKPP-NE-1V tend to work together with PCP in the middle. These two sides find it very difficult to work together and you may have seen things getting heated.

The biggest point of contention is moderation of the UK Forums and IRC Channels. The TUP-ESO-UKRP group tends to have the people who own and moderate Forums and IRC, the UKPP-NE-OV group tends to have people who have been moderated on Forums and IRC.

One group talks about freedom of speech and corruption, the other talks about trouble makers and stupidity. Both sides have some good points.

This is having a big effect on the Ministry of Legislative Affairs because there is no middle ground for the two sides to have discussions. One side tend to live on the forums and wants all discussion to be there. One side tends to live in the game and needs all discussion to be here. Choose one of these places and you lose people from the other side.

The only way that one side can win is by destroying the other side and making them quit. That is 50% of the country gone and it is not what the UK needs.

The Solution
We need to make neutral ground for the two sides to talk and work together, only then can people start to make friends or at least develop professional respect for each other. You can not like someone personally but like their work for the UK.

1) There needs to be a total reset in relations. The conflict is spiralling out of control so we have to say "STOP", just like they did in real life South Africa and Northern Ireland.

We need to stop bringing up things which happened years ago, even if they still hurt.

2) There needs to be forgiveness. Things done in the heat of the moment or planned during the spiral down need to be wiped clean, again just like the real life conflicts.

We need to have all eRepublik related IRC and Forum warnings and bans removed.

3) There must be open discussion, evidence and reparation allowed on sanctions used against people. The spiral cannot be allowed to happen again.

We need every future IRC or Forum offense logged, explained and proven with a way open to make amends.

4) There has to be accountability and oversight in the system by the people. Ways to fairly appoint and remove people sitting in judgement on others. Who judges the judges?

We need a clear and fair way to appoint and remove moderators of IRC Channels and Forums.

This is what in my view needs to happen, please comment if you have any ideas.

What I don't want to see is one side being told that they are wrong or insulted. One side saying being told to stay away from the forums and elitists or the other being told to behave themselves and conform.

Everything has happened for a reason but each reason has another reason behind it back up that spiral to that forgotten first offense, we will never find it and you will never be right. So let's put it aside and work together now.

You need to be thinking "What can I compromise to gain 50% of the community" and not "How can I make them see that I am right?".
