Around the World: eUSA, the glory of eRomania and a Presidentential interview!

Day 457, 17:09 Published in USA USA by Aren Perry

eUSA, I bring you a tour of both erep and real life Romania!

Erepublik Romania:

Romania is the second largest nation and the nation that has the third most experience points while ranking more experience points per person than the eUSA has.

There are 37 different regions.

The tax system of eRomania is basically 5% income tax, with 99% import tax on everything save DS/Hospitals/diamonds with 10% VAT. The average salary is 9.81 RON, or approx 12.26 USD, higher than our average salary by a few dollars.

They are a leading member of Atlantis and have a reputation as a powerful nation.

The current president dsalageanu is a part of the largest political party in the country, “eUniunea Gamerilor Democrati” with 688 members.

He was so kind enough to sit down with me and answer a few questions. The answers to which I found to be very thoughtful and insightful.

Me: In the past month some people in the eUSA have doubted the power of Atlantis to protect its own; do you think that Atlantis has a long term future?

President dsalageanu:
I think that both Atlantis and PEACE, as we knew them from yesterday, have outlived their purpose. We cannot expect that in a changing world, any such organizations can perform the same role in the same manner and still be successful. Atlantis definitely has a future, but that doesn't mean that we don't have the duty to update the very definition of what Atlantis means, in order to meet our present and future needs.

Me:
Mr. President, Right now in the eUSA considerations are going on to keep 20% or higher income tax on our citizens, I see that you have 5% income taxes, I'm sure many USA citizens would like to know how do you manage to sustain such a powerful nation as your own with such low taxes?

President dsalageanu:
The last administration rose the income taxes dramatically (double-fold) and managed to increase the collection by mere 25%. Consequences were the reduction of the taxation base as well as the booming of the black market. After lowering the income taxes dramatically, the money started to flow more consistently in our treasury.

(Can we apply this here?)

Me: Would you like some Baklava right about now?

President dsalageanu:
Yes, crispy yet with sweet syrup. Yum.

Me: Some people view aggression against other nations as inappropriate, what is your philosophy on what is proper aggression and what kind if any is inappropriate?

President dsalageanu:
As a president, my first duty is to protect the very best interest of my nation. In this area, I am restricted by 2 contingencies: the desire to secure more regions, wealth, fame for my people but also respect, acceptance and harmony with the international community. "Inappropriate" would be a term I would use rather when visiting grandma, but not in foreign policy. No place for "extend the pinky" principles there.

(Great answer, Mr. President.)

Me: Do you feel that someday Atlantis could land a decisive defeat to PEACE?

President dsalageanu:
"Could" probably yes. "Would" probably not. "Should" definitely not. The only thing worse than a bipolar world would be a unipolar one. The end of PEACE implies definitely the end of Atlantis also.

Me: Recently Benn Dover and DarkPlayer started RW's for Greece and Israel, what is the Romanian stance towards Turkey in their resistance to allowing them to have their own territory? Further, Turkey just left PEACE, do you see any future potential of them perhaps joining us in PEACE?

President dsalageanu:
Greece received massive support from Romanian soldiers, although it was an informal one. The Romanian government recommended that the Army would support the RW's, but did not allocate resources to this. I have a bad habit not to support operations which are not properly planned and communicated. But, after all, it was a success.

About Turkey, what can I say? Should we make friends with anybody just because they are not friends with our enemies anymore? Should be take advantage of their vulnerability? If we do, what message do we send to the other countries that might which to leave PEACE? We should really seek appropriate answers to these questions before making any decisions.

Thank you for the opportunity and greetings to the USA!

And thank you so much for your time Mr. President it is a great honor.

Real Life Romania information!

In real life, Romania is a bustling country with 22 million people and is a part of the European Union. The capital of Bucharest has about 2 million people itself. The only substantial minority within the nation are Hungarians that make up ~6% of the nation. Romania serves as a major crossroads for the European continent in terms of travel and they are rapidly building their road infrastructure.

Since 2000, the Romanian economy has been relatively stable with deflation and a GDP of 264 Billion. About 4% of that comes from tourism, so you may want to go visit yourself! I might want to move there, as they have very temperate weather very rarely going out of the area of 32-75 degrees Farenheit. For holidays, they not only have New Year’s Day but “Day after New Year’s Day” (Anul Nou, on Jan 2nd). They have two Christmas days (25/26) and a Great Union Day on December 1st.

A meal in Romania might include chiftele, a large meatball covered with flour crust or breadcrumbs, along with mancare de praz (leek stew), and perhaps you might finish off with a desert of baklava (pastry with nuts inside and honey or syrup to sweeten it) or the ever famous Turkish delight.

Next week I will bring you another nation! I would tell you which but that would spoil the fun!
