Deputy Justice Minister Vigen Kocharyan has told the Examiner and other media sources that the ministry is currently seeking the legal assistance of foreign governments regarding the prosecution of those involved in the nation's largest drug bust to date.

Armenia has recently refused a petition filed by Avtandil Martiashvili, a Georgian citizen who was sentenced to 17 years in jail by a Armenian court for driving a truck in which 850 kl of heroin were seized back in 2014 at the Meghri customs house, requesting that he will be extradited into Georgia.

Kocharyan (in his response to Martiashvili) stated that the petition had been reviewed but that pending extradition was not considered appropriate at this time since a new criminal case was currently being examined.

The Court of Cassation has already decided not to review Martiashvili's appeal.
