Aren Perry for President!

Day 1,316, 11:38 Published in Philippines USA by Aren Perry

Greetings my Fellow Filipino's!

I am announcing my candidacy for President of the Philippines for the upcoming July-August period with the Neutral Philippines Movement Party.

Firstly, I would like to state my gratitude to Indielfi that this month has been very smooth and successful. You have been a wonderful president and very supportive during my time as AFP CO of the Marines. If she was running again, I wouldn't try a second time to oust from her rightful seat our rightful dictator kitteh as I know that she would get the job done again.

However, our fearless leader is not running again, and therefore I present myself as a candidate to you for the next presidency. The Philippines still needs strong leadership, and that is something that I can provide and have proved that I can provide through my prior time and experience as President.

Global Aspirations and Foreign Affairs Outlook

As a total global outlook, obviously the world had to find a new place to take its hissy fit to after Croatia and Serbia decided to take a reprieve from each other-and they found that place in North America. While the US is the main target, Canada is suffering badly as well as dear allies and "bro's" of the US. The only other nation in North America, Mexico, well...

Doing the usual...

But yea, still the world is pretty pre-occupied with its own affairs outside of our little SEA region, unlike what was happening last time I was President. So what are we gonna do with our sweet time?

Alliance:

Our beloved Luna

At current, while the alliance has not fallen apart, it is rather stagnant. The two main leaders of the alliance, James Ferring and Hekter, have gone not been actively involved within the alliance.

From our allies, there has already been an effort to help revive our active ties to each other. I hope to proactively search out our allies and recreate communications between our linked nations. Specifically, our main issue knowing what each other needs and when, because there are many of our nations and it can be hard to know who needs what when.

My Proposal:

Create a google doc where each president and MoFa from each nation has access to it, to change it. It will be a 'status update' board that should be updated daily by each nation, stating if they need help, where, what kind, and for how long a battle is expected to last in erep time so daily we can see the needs of each other and be in the know along with a suggested priority level.

Also, needs that are more permanent can be posted in this easily accessible google doc, say for example, a PTO threat. This will get rid of the previous reliance we had on the IRC chat room. It worked well, but without people actively getting in the chatroom there must be a place where all allied nations can have a continued news feed of what is needed that does not rely on asking a person directly, that is easily accessible and not complicated. A straightforward google doc should do the trick.

As a sidenote, our congress and president have secured for us an MPP with Brazil, once again ensuring almost daily battles for our citizens and continued growth in our military ranking.

Our Regions:

Two of our regions are being rented, for gold, by the Indonesians. This is about the best situation that we can hope for.

I'll be open an honest about this. Our rental agreement, while most certainly agreed to by both sides, is one that we are not in the position to change. Indonesia is our big brother that wants both its link to South America (Visayas) and its iron source (Mindanao). If it is possible to get them back, I would be happy to do so. I do not see this being likely at all realistically. Indonesia has no incentive to "let" us have them back. I'm not going to make a campaign promise I cannot probably keep.

You may recall that at the beginning of my term we did not have Mindanao, but through some negotiations and using the current situation (China vs. Indonesia), we got Mindanao back. It required a lot of backroom talks and political/military maneuvers. Not only I but my cabinet worked on this together to create the success we had. If it is possible, I will have our regions back in our hand.

During my last term as President, we succeeded in not only getting Mindanao back, but in barely keeping our nation alive one territory at a time despite very choppy communication and co-ordination from China in their attempts to pass through us (due to their president at the time who was soon afterwards impeached for being sloppy). Trust me, I know it was not a fun time for any of us. I and my cabinet spent hours attempting to contact, reasoning and scheming to ensure that our nation stayed afloat. Through hard work and effort (and again, not only of my own, but certainly much of my own) our flag still flew in the sky every erepublik day of my term. For this I am proud.

For our current situation, all things considered, our rental agreement is a good situation for us to be in, and I know that I appreciate Indonesia's manners, good relations, and civility in renting these regions from us compared to the other option available to them.

Domestic Affairs

Domestic Affair? no-Domestic Affairs...sooo different 😛

I will be posting a list of my cabinet members at a later point in time. However, As my good companion Sigurd Aasen has already announced, he intends to have Coco The Killa as the MoM (Ministry of Merriment) and to spread the joy of Toast to all the lands. Well, quite frankly Sigurd, I miss Toast Man too, so I am doing the same thing. Coco The Killa is also my nomination for the position of Ministry of Merriment.

w00t for Toast Man!

For domestic affairs in general, I can say that our biggest need is the one that every nation faces, the need for more citizens. I’ll tackle that issue in a later article. I also plan on publishing an article within the economics section about the current economical situation soon, so I will leave that alone as well. Suffice it to say that our current domestic situation in terms of the MM cannot be improved by any kind of government intervention. However, there are some things I would like to see again.

Gold Loans:

That’s right, I’d like to bring back what we had during my last presidential period, gold loans of the amount of 5 gold for people who are willing and able to use the gold to either build a new business or upgrade a current one. As an extension of this program, I would also like to see if we can loan 1000 PHP to people who wish to either use it to make a resource business or, more specifically, to build new land.

Both of these types of loans would be expected to be paid back the next time the individual receives a medal of some kind and form. I believe that the loan system helped bolster our economy last time and will do so again. This would be specifically under the provision of the Minister of Finance for our country.

Fun and the Media:

I don’t know about you, but it feels as if erepublik recently has lost a bit of its fun due to the media module change. I have a solution to the media module change to make your viewing easier, but alas, for reasons I can’t say here you will have to pm me to find it.

Just like my last month as president, I intend to write bi-weekly updates on events in and around the Philippines. This should help us feel more closely connected to things going on here and around the world. I think this will help bring back some reasons for popping on the media and reading a few good articles.

Fun and the Military:

Right now, our military is experiencing a bit of a lull in activity, both in terms of the members of the military and also within battles to be fought, though we are currently sitting in the US in the midst of all that onslaught (our military and pretty much the rest of the worlds too).

Currently, our MoD is nowhere to be found, but with the help of our president Indielfi and my own effort, our military is functioning in giving out weapons every other day and in giving out orders to our soldiers. I owe Indielfi a great thanks in this matter for supporting me in the endeavor to keep our military organized and operating appropriately.

There are two things that I wish to do on that front. Firstly, I think it’s time for some recruiting

That’s right, join us fellow citizens! We are currently giving out between 8 and 10 Q5 weapons every other day to our soldiers.

The requirements are simple, work for one of our companies and respond to roll call every day within the military unit. Join us in fighting around the world.

Here’s where to apply: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dElGbkdGSUtzNndLSEIyNzhfRVFtSHc6MQ

Secondly, on the issue of finding battles, by keeping in better contact with our Luna allies there will be no shortage of battles for which we can and should fight in specifically.

When Luna was actively connecting each others allies, our military was dashing around the world with too many meaningful places to fight. I know that this can be the case again, and I hope that I can implement my shared google doc system with all of our allies as soon as I am president to ensure this.

Look out for more articles coming your way soon! And vote AP for President July 5th!
