An Odd Second Morning in Office

Day 435, 13:07 Published in USA USA by Aren Perry

I grabbed my briefcase and headed out the door for my second day as congressman.

I walk in the door, past the metal detectors and up to my private office.

Aah, a private office, yes, my first. Though working at Summerland Bakeries had its joys (who doesn't like the smell of fresh baked Q1 bread?) this was a little better. A little more, leather swivel chair-ish. The leather is nice.

"good morning Mabel"

Yes, I have a secretary named Mabel. This is to cut costs for the citizens of Illinois, of course.

"here's your morning mail, congradulations again on becoming a congressman (thank you Illinois), you have a call waiting for you in your office"

*smiles* Thanks Mabel.

ah, now to that leather chair...

*phone rings*-a fellow congressman

"you're going to have to fire Mabel"

"what?"

"we can't pay her... someone broke into the Federal Reserve and took all the money"

"Wow, I'll have to hire someone named something like, Felibur or Brittney Spears now."

"probably so Congressman Aren"

Oh well, perhaps listening to pre-recorded "live" songs all day over the intercom won't be so bad....

what a beginning to a first congressional seating.

Illinois, let me know what you feel about temporarily raising taxes to restore the federal reserve.
