A whole new world
Quintus Cornelius Scipio
Greetings everyone!
I've not written in a long time. I also realized that I had more to say than what would fit into a short feed statement.
Todays topic: The new economy
As everyone is well aware, we had a huge event about a month ago that reseeded the resources of the world and added some new ones. Unfortunately, rather than giving us adequate knowledge to plan ahead, we got only news that pollution would affect the game in some way and we're still in the dark on it. What we have gotten is news about how the bonuses will work.
Every company produces the same base amount.
Then there's a country bonus for resources.
Then there's a region bonus minus the pollution value for that region.
What this means is that you can get better results if you invest in a region that carries a significant number of bonuses, but it may come back to haunt you if that region is overproducing.
Its also really expensive to relocate companies. In short, you want to make good choices at the start.
Granted, we all play the game differently. Some micromanage and invest greatly. Others want to play casually.
So here are some open questions:
1. Do you go for one holding company, probably in an obscure region, where you pick up the national bonuses, but are unlikely to have to deal with pollution?
2. Do you pick one industry and go for a region with a lot of bonuses in it, all in the hope that you'll produce more goods. If so, which industry? My money is on housing here, as there's a fairly finite value that the market can take. You can't work as manager for a housing company, so you're not penalized for not being in the region. I'm thinking lower production levels on the whole keep the level of pollution down, which in turn makes it a good choice.
3. At what point is it worth investing in several holding companies in different key regions? The tedium of moving around just to work-as-manager sounds particularly exhausting.
I'm very curious to read comments from the community. Discuss and let's learn together!

I am going to place my holding company in an obscure region, only because I get a free one. I see no point in investing in companies when the market remains over saturated. The whole point of a market is consumers, which are becoming fewer and fewer...
Good point. A market wants consumers, but gamers want to be self-sufficient. Those two forces work against each other. I'm leaning toward the one freebie, but we'll see.

I think I will choose a good region for weapons companies, the best I have. And I prefere have good bonuses: they make it better than the pollution effects.
I am going to make florida the most polluted state in the entire world!
i want to see if i can get it 25 pollution!
So we're being warned off Florida, eh? I think the hard part is not knowing precisely what people who are not eUSA citizens will do. We can put our companies anywhere. Pollution is also individual by unit, so a Q4 doesn't pollute a Q5 and so forth.
