A NRB look at; the eNorwegian Presidential-election of July 2012

Day 1,688, 12:26 Published in Norway Finland by Kristoph Woldskji
Hello good fellow citizens of eNorway and foreign spectators!

This editon of NRB will have a interview with two out of three presidential candidates for July's President-election!

Two of the CP-candidates for this months election are neither strangers to eNorwegian politics, even though one of them are certainly more known / visible to the general public.
This is mainly because they've had very different roles in their careers, but just as important ones for the nation as a whole...
The final one is a newcomer to the game with a fresh one-man party...

The candidates and interviews:

The candidates are the following (alphabetically, with name, party and supporting-parties);

Per Jostein – Partiet Demokratene
Election-speech here

Samuel Munster - Norsefire
No election-speech

Ursidae Polar – Nye Norge, supported by NLP, BoP and TeK
Election-speech 1 here
Election-speech 2 here

Unfortunately Samuel Munster have not answered my pm's with this interview and I could not find an election-speech either.
So here we go then, starting of with Per Jostein and then Ursidae Polar, their answers alternating downwards.

First of all; could you please give us a quick presentation of yourself?

Per Jostein;

My name is Per Jostein. I've been playing this game for more the one year and never changed my citizenship.
I'm loyal to Norway and was a member of the government for some months, mostly as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
I made some nice people in this game and I can say it would be nothing without the social interactions.

Ursidae Polar;
Hello! 🙂 I'm Ursidae Polar, a.k.a "bjørnen", a real life norwegian from Vestlandet
I am an administrator and developer of erepublik.no, creator and director of the Kickstart program (a progression of Matfondet, which Che Kukaken ran), and many other projects.
I've been involved with government politics a long time, and took over the party AEEA which we transformed into Nye Norge.

What's your inspiration to run for presidency?

Per Jostein;

My inspiration was all the players that play this game by the time I play and were great presidents, as Endymionis, Stakerauo and Che Kukaken. And also the my friend, king Christopher Moe.

Ursidae Polar;
I love this game and the people who play it!
My inspiration for being CP is simply to have the mandate to lay the foundations for an eNorway that we can continue to love and evolve.
I want to create a government that listen, talk and act for the people, and have Ministers that know what is required of them and can help shape the definitions of their jobs.
These are some of the fundamental things that will have to be established in order to expand our population and maintain a working government, regardless of political branch.

How would you characterize eNorway's current situation / status?

Per Jostein;

It is a stable situation. It is better then it was some months ago.
We don't have PTO anymore and we can think about more important stuffs.
But I don't like the actual situation when I take a look on the map.
We have just two regions, and are dominated by Russia, a country that should be our ally...

Ursidae Polar;
Norway is a free eNation, full of wonderful players!
We recently survived a long PTO and are eager to start controlling our nation for full.
Under the PTO, we stood united and fought them, now that we're free there's still a need for some cause in what we do in the game.

Training wars have been suggested, seems many are tired of always fighting for others - something I can agree with. We are also still a small nation in dire need of a baby-boom to increase our number two-three fold.
In preparation for this, we'll have to cement our systems for Immigration, Citizen Development (Kickstart, education), Congress and other Minister posts.

What's your own thoughts on the current president?

Per Jostein;

I really have to say thank you to Endymionis. When he was Minister of Foreign Affairs, I was his vice-minister.
I never worked in that ministry before, just as ambassador. He was always present and coached me very well.
He responded all my questions and I could not be happier when he won the presidential elections for the first time and I was his MoFA during his government.
Certainly it is a great experience to work with him.

Ursidae Polar;
Endy is a really good CP, he did a wonderful job in the last stages of forcing out the PTO's and is a dedicated, loyal player. However, this term things were a bit slow and there are many reasons for that.
I have nothing but respect for Endy, great guy - great CP!

What would you like to do as president in eNorway, and most importantly, what do you think should be done differently from as it is today?

Per Jostein;

As I had said in my candidacy presentation, basically two things would change:
I intend to implement training wars for RH medals, and also withdraw Norway from EDEN and take part in a Scandinavian cooperation.

Certainly the controversial thing in my plan is the EDEN question.
But if the Norwegians think well, will see that there is no reason to dread it. It is a step for the future.
We have loyal allies in EDEN, and they will be maintained, but nobody can negate that there are many strange things happening everytime in erepublik alliances...

I have a dream of a Scandinavian cooperation in erepublik.
Maybe it had already happened (or not) before I join in this game, but I intend to stay in this game until I see this alliance.

Ursidae Polar;
I'll answer the latter first; I would like to get more information out to our citizens and get more information back from the citizens on what they want out of the game.
The CP is elected by the people of Norway and must honor those votes by hearing their voices and telling them what is going on.

As CP, I wrote in my article "Cabinet and Goals" what I want to achieve, but to sum it up:
Sharpen up the government structure with defined roles and responsibilities, make the people's voices be important and map out systems that we need to have for maintaining a baby-boom when it comes.
This means catching new citizens early, bringing them into the community, getting them into Kickstart, HV, forum and hopefully also IRC.
Once they meet the fine people that make up Norway, they'll stay in the game 🙂

Regarding training wars; Two-three weeks ago I had an interesting discussion with a potential country that are willing to participate in helping Norway with Resistance Hero / True Patriot medal fighting.
There is an understanding and a plan to execute it in development, but these things are not created by the snap of a finger. It is important to remember that this game is a marathon, but if I'm unable to start this training war during my term, I will pass on the plans to the next CP.

And to summarize; could you tell our readers why they should vote for you?

Per Jostein;

I recommend everybody to compare the two candidacies. They have much in common.
For exemple, both me and Ursidae Polar would be ministers on each other's candidacy. But there are differences.

I just say: vote on the one you identify yourself the most. I can be the best candidate for ones, and Ursidae for others...
I cannot say I'm better than the other candidate. The winner will be the one who shares the same thoughts with the major percentage of Norwegians.
It will be the government Norwegians want. This is the great important thing on this elections.
Thank you.

Ursidae Polar;
Vote for Ursidae Polar as CP if you want a loyal, dedicated president that want to do the best for our country and our citizens!
Vote for me so that we can lay the foundations for government in the future, projects to involve new citizens and to make your voice important 🙂

And last, good luck to the other candidates running for CP, especially Per Jostein - a loyal, dedicated and last, but not least, a great guy! 🙂

Editor;
Thanks alot to the both of you for the insight on your candidacies!
I hope you voters out there have gotten atleast a glimpse of what some of our Presidential-candidates stand for through this.

Use your vote wisely, it's a powerful tool which selects our next president, supreme commander and EDEN-representative.
I wish them all the best of luck in the election!
