[Yui4CP] Issues

Since I released my announcement article and posted a topic on each of the Top 6 party’s forum, some issues have come up from the people that I’ll just centralize into this article.
Taxes are always a hot button issue in this country. At almost every tax amount, you’ll find people who think it should be lower, and people who think it should be higher. Some people think the Work Tax should always stay at 8%, others say 12%, and they usually both can agree on 10%.
For a while now, the tax has been set at 15% to replenish the reserve. But ever since these Resource Wars began there have been small chirps that the tax should be lowered to attract more people to our regions, or at least encourage people not to leave.
A couple days ago, Congress finally started the official discussion on the Work Tax, Resource Wars, and what we should do with it. As the discussion drew on, many people started to agree to a 1% tax for the time being. I am for this shift to 1%.
However, you should know that this 1% tax rate is NOT sustainable. Our expenditures will exceed our revenue with this low tax rate, which means that sometime in June, the work tax will be revisited and re-adjusted. Hopefully, the new baseline tax rate will be no higher than 8%, but it all depends on what these Resource Wars will do to our tax base.
A lot of people remember the December Revolution, and the blacklisting of 24 people because of it. I am not afraid to say that I voted to blacklist every single one of the 24, as they actively went against the government.
This event spawned a discussion that has lasted for months on whether or not blacklisting is effective, and if it should even exist in the first place.
I’m in support of the Blacklist, but only because it’s the only thing there really is for a punishment for breaking a law, at least as severely as fighting against the government. I am, however, completely open to alternatives to Blacklisting. If the alternative was shown to be effective, then I would support it 100%.
This one was a sure doozy.
For anyone that frequents the eUSAForums, you have probably seen my CP run thread in We The People’s subforum. Today, Hale26 posted a question in regards to Sunshine and his actions that occurred about a month ago.
For those of you who don’t know, Sunshine was elected party president to We The People. Everything seemed fine and dandy until Sunshine decide to take 1.53 million CC from Oblige through his Whalefare system, which distributes CC based on what you do. He also changed the name of We The People, changed it’s logo, and more. He essentially just desecrated and disrespected the whole party.
This lead to Whalefare being shutdown, which is what new members of their party rely on to get their feet running. It also lead to quite a few members leaving the party afterwards.
In no way do I endorse or support Sunshine’s actions. At first I thought the Whalefare exploitation was funny because it seemed to only affect one person. That was before I realized the extent of the damage Sunshine’s actions had caused to the WTP as a whole. After learning that the incident caused so much damage I realize it wasn’t funny in the least because it hurt the WTP community, and therefore part of the eUSA community. I ask that Sunshine come out and publically apologize to the WTP party for his actions.
In regards to the Federalist Party letting him into Congress, it is my understanding that Sunshine was doing work for the party, and in true Federalist tradition, they put him on the lower side of the Congress list for it, and he got in. I have and had absolutely no control over this.
Hopefully both the Federalist Party and We The People party can put aside their newly acquired differences and work on rebuilding a healthy relationship.
That’s it from me for now. Tomorrow I’ll be releasing my cabinet list, and I’m sure you’ll all be happy to see what’s been built.

Cabinet list tomorrow.... Haven't heard from you....

Maybe that's intentional... :>

you and your sunshine melodrama, what about important game issues, like the eUS immigration ban?
This didn't come up, so enlighten me on this.
I am in a big pile of "do do" over granting a citizenship request, or so I am told (likely it is just that I am unliked), to me running off players from eRepublik is bigger issue than which top 5 clan feels slighted by a defection.
So you granted an unauthorized person citizenship. It's been a bad thing to do for years now, so you're kinda screwed there
because? What could one player do do worse than Ajay or the Owls did do do?
They can't really do much on their own, but sooner or later if people were allowed in all willy nilly, they'd group together and possibly form a harming force in this nation.
my point; eUS ruling junta (forum dwellers) is/are much more concerned with it's own status than the game (eRepublik) itself. In reality your campaigning for the death of the game are you not?
Far from it.
How far? The stated intent of the ruling junta is to crush any opposition (very effectively using forum dwelling non-players as anti-game bullies on the eUS government forum) even passing legislation on said forum to threaten any top 5 for reprisals if they insist on any independence of thought or action.
stop responding to this idiot's piecemeal whining.
his original question is legit, though, except it's a matter to be addressed to Congress. Immigration policy is set by Congress, not any President.
I don't mind. He's still a constituent, so he deserves a response when I can give him one.
If you wanted to low the taxes to 1% to trick people into the country you maybe should not tell them that it's just a trick and that you are gonna rise it again in June. My 2 cents.
couple things, here.
as we hear every election cycle, the President/Dictator doesn't set taxes except as directed by Congress. it's just not his job.
as for Congress and this "trick" you mention.. it's not much of a trick if it's said right out front-- the drop to 1% is a fiscally irresponsible "feel good" measure that will benefit workers and company owners for a short time. when Congress sees, not just that the math don't work, but just how badly the math don't work, they'll crap their collective drawers and do (hopefully) incremental increases till the math does work.
no secrets, no tricks. and no Presidential control of any of it.
I know I know, it's just that he himself states that is in favour of that decrease but he knows that it's not gonna work and in less than one month (in june, he says) we are gonna readjust it.
It's just weird.
THAT is how USA does it: http://prntscr.com/ba4yqs

looking forward to hearing more.
The blacklist thing is unfair, anti-democratic, anti-socialist overkill that reeks of a pre-emptive monarchical anti-justice system with no recourse for citizens. Its only aim is to "punish" those who disagree with the tiny cabal of players who make up the off-game Congress, to suppress dissent, and to perpetuate oligarchy.
Vote SFP. Turn out the elitists from Congress and from the President's office. Make e-America Fun Again.
LOL, talk about trite...
Your 'socialist' party doesn't advocate socialist positions. You're the Libertarian Freedom Party, at best...which is an insult to the history the Liberty and Libertarian Parties built in this game.
Oh hush, both of you. Nobody is interested.
LOL, your position is that you are not interested. How arrogantly trite is it to make that claim for the rest of us?
Agree to disagree?
I don't really like the blacklist but it's all we have right now, other than the term-long censure
Fair enough, but I would hope to see some more creative thinking in this area. Personally, it is irrelevant to me (George) because I am not interested in participating in the off-game forum anyway. But I am a bit surprised that so little is being done to repair this damaged and blunt instrument of policy that treats citizens like enemies and turns Congress into cops.

balless fuck, garmr; how spot on!!
Who the fuck are you then?
If you'd ever bothered to seriously involve yourself in the politics of the eUS you'd know I'm probably the least ball-less fuck out there. You can come say it to my face though you fat Trump voting inbred.

You're so fat you'd piss against your own fat stomach, what are you on about. 10 bucks says that you're pissing in a bag through a stoma already.
1% tax isn't exactly needed, we're the cheapest position MT-wise if people want to travel between max industry regions.
Except as it stands right now moving from place to place costs 1 Q5 universally.

### Resource war - update###

I can't remember subscribing. How'd you pull that off?
😉 Good Luck with the run.
I can imagine SFP would've had more problems if Sunshine had ran through us. Oh well.
Fail to see how that's something a POTUS should have to get their hands dirty on though....
I don't see it either :/
