Editor’s Note: There are some details about the war effort in this issue that might be misconstrued as “excuses”. They are not excuses, they are merely two facts that the American people deserve to know and understand as we prepare for the next round of engagement.
Update on War with Spain

Greetings, fellow Americans.
Today the WHPR will exclusively address the topic of our war with Spain.
We have so far seen several successes as well as some frustrating losses. I hope you will find some candid answers to why we find ourselves where we are as well as what the prognosis is moving forward.
First, it needs to be said that our battlefield opponents are not only resolved in defense, they have also been joined by several other Nations who are regarded as Spanish allies. In addition, they have received a rather large sum of money for their defense by a particular wealthy citizen. While it is somewhat surprising to see just how much support is being given, it was largely anticipated that the beginning of this campaign would be a slugfest.
From our side, there was a minor error in the launching of our initiative. A particularly eager congressman “jumped the gun” and proposed our battle legislation sooner than we had planned. This resulted in a bit of a scramble getting our operations fully established in time for the first strike.
We were also hampered by a game bug that somehow locked our combat funds in the USAF Military Unit. We were literally unable to set our Combat Orders. These things happen, and when they do, the hours that are lost can have a big impact on our military progress. There is still a large sum of money we are unable to access until Plato fixes the bug. But we have since procured other funding resources and the battle now rages on.
You also know that yesterday saw the heaviest fighting so far, with massive amounts of money being spent, especially by our enemies, to secure victories. They outspent us and won many battles.
And so if we were to look at the war strictly from the perspective of the American war front, it would seem that we are losing.
But we are not losing. Yes, America has lost territories against Spain. However America is not alone in this war initiative.
As you can see by the map above, already Spain has lost 6 of their 17 original regions.
This, from the perspective of our National Security Council, is progress.
Obviously, it is not “fun” to be sacrificing Virginia. But all Americans should be encouraged to continue to follow the battle orders that the Department of Defense issues. Our short-term losses are being evaluated and managed strategically as factors in our long-term success. We did not plan to lose any battles against Spain. But seeing that we have, the cool heads in our NSC have a very good understanding of what to do.
The most important thing for Americans and Spaniards to know is that our President, his Cabinet, and the entire fighting force of America and her allies is sternly resolved to not only regain the upper hand in this conflict but to deliver the final knockout blow to Spain.
Guerrilla Fight for Maximum Damage

America is in a very exciting time of war right now. Ignore all of the complainers, war makes this game more interesting for all of us, win or lose.
But we want to win, right?
Well I am going to offer you a piece of advice that will increase the amount of battlefield damage Americans are bringing to bear against our enemies. And if we will all do this, it would make a gargantuan difference in our success.
Look at the screenshot at the top of this article. In that Guerrilla Fight (GF), I happened to win. It was a very good win because I totally eliminated all of my opponent's health. Under these circumstances, I provided 3,780,279 damage against our enemy. In this particular GF, I happened to only lose 60 health. That means the GF enabled me to do the equivalent of 630,046 damage per “hit” (-10 energy) compared to a Q7 weapon. My Q7 weapon hit in this same battle is only 188,075 damage.
So In this GF, I only consumed 6 Q7 hits worth of energy but I did 20 Q7 hits worth of damage.
Now not every GF ends in a win. I don’t want to get lost in the math, but I can tell you that unless you somehow manage to get killed in a GF without inflicting any damage to your opponent, you will always end up scoring more damage with GF than you will with an equivalent amount of energy spent on Q7 hits.
(If you are interested in the math, it’s simple. If you lose, you get 100% of the health you lost worth of Q7 Damage plus you get 50% worth of Q7 damage for the amount of energy your opponent lost. Of course if you win, you get 100% of the damage you did to your opponent in Q7 Damage which is why I ended up with 20 Q7 hits worth of damage in my win.
These two weapons are the best to have with you. But even if you walk into the GF with zero armor and the cheapest pistol, as long as you inflict some damage, you will have created more damage than you could have otherwise done.
So especially while we are in a critical war, I urge every American to Guerrilla Fight.

Today the WHPR will exclusively address the topic of our war with Spain.
We have so far seen several successes as well as some frustrating losses. I hope you will find some candid answers to why we find ourselves where we are as well as what the prognosis is moving forward.
First, it needs to be said that our battlefield opponents are not only resolved in defense, they have also been joined by several other Nations who are regarded as Spanish allies. In addition, they have received a rather large sum of money for their defense by a particular wealthy citizen. While it is somewhat surprising to see just how much support is being given, it was largely anticipated that the beginning of this campaign would be a slugfest.

So In this GF, I only consumed 6 Q7 hits worth of energy but I did 20 Q7 hits worth of damage.
Now not every GF ends in a win. Good WHPR btw.
I've been in a military strategy function in one way or the other over the last 3.5 years and I can say there is plenty of reason to believe we will successfully crush the Spanish, drive them before us, and hear the lamentations of their women.
To be specific, they are most probably making a push to break our morale and have us back out of the war. That's what I would do if I didn't have the money to sustain a long war against a far richer opponent.
