[UNL] Government news
Ministerie van Media en Recrui
Anybody who has not been dwelling in a cave for the last week will be aware that this was a very successful time for the United Netherlands, and the government would like to thank everyone for their hard work in the fighting!
The obvious news for this week has been the victory in Flanders and Brussels over Highst and the Group. This has been a good early test for Phoenix, and one that has met with undoubted success. The government now asks UNL citizens who are currently resident in the United Kingdom after the attacks to return to the UNL, as fighting has finished. Moving tickets can be requested from the Ministerie van Defensie. The training wars between Russia and North Korea were postponed when fighting began in Flanders and Brussels, but are likely to resume again soon. The Ministerie van Defensie is always looking for new army recruits, who can enlist here - http://tinyurl.com/unlarmy
Debates and discussions surrounding the proposed merger with the United Kingdom are continuing, the government intends to hold the necessary referendum when discussions have defined the fine points of the merger. Discussions on the possible European Sub-Alliance are also continuing, there has been some difficulty due to inactive persons on the UK side, but contacts are now being made directly with UK president Mr Woldy on this subject. Trinc, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs asks that anyone interested in becoming an ambassador to a foreign country please put themselves forward. Citizens interested in becoming an ambassador should please contact Garmr, Flando, or Trinc himself.
Unfortunately we now have some bad news. Mark Decius has been forced to resign as Minister of Home Affairs due to some real life commitments. Whilst we are sad to see an active and experienced minister leave, he will be replaced by the very capable Steingrimmur. Pander Sols has become inactive and has resigned as Minister of Finance. He will not be replaced at the current time, and his roles will become the responsibility of the government as a whole.
The Ministerie van Economische reports that the economic outlook is very positive, and advises citizens that now is a good time to sell gold for NLG. Foreign investors are taking advantage of the current monetary situation, and the Ministerie advises citizens that now is a good time to invest in NLG.
The government is also looking for citizens with raw materials skill who are interested in working for UNL Mines abroad. Potential employees interested in this opportunity should contact Auggustus, the Minister for State Companies here - http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/1480208
This has overall been a good week for the United Netherlands, with economic opportunities arising and the victory over Highst and the Group. As ever though, the government asks its citizens to remain vigilant and ready for retaliation by EDEN, so we can effectively defend the United Netherlands if the group should return.

" He will not be replaced at the current time, and his roles will become the responsibility of the government as a whole."
Lowl... I gess this meens nobody will take care of the ministry.
He is a deputy and Mitch is the Minister. He doesn't need a deputy he said.
Good article and regrettable for the inactive ministers but it can happen 😉
Question: it's a good time to trade gold for NLG but what will happen with the NLG if we merge with eUK? I think most are afraid of loosing that but can you assure that wont be the case?
lolz... Kixtart is right, he was State Secretary. Our MoF is still active, and the Ministry can be run quite well alone, so no worries there.
Olv007, part of the negotiations/talks were about the NLG.
Although details will be enclosed undoubtly later, there will be the possibility to exchange your NLG for GBP, so that does not have to be the main worry.
So to everybody: if we merge, you will be able to switch NLG for GBP - no need to panic on the MM in speculation of a possible merger; keep it stable like we do. 🙂
Thanks for your answer Boklevski. I think that's what everybody wanted to hear 🙂
Did you seriously think that if we merger your NLG would become useless? I would be broke then. 🙂
But like Boklevski said you will be able to exchange your NLG for GBP. Right now the rate is 0.03g for 1 GBP and 0.015g per 1 NLG. It will not be devaluated more than that.
No Mitch, I don't think that but if you want citizens to invest on the Money Market then you have to confirm their money will still be safe after the merge. I only wanted to point that missing point in the article 😉
Good news indeed the victory from UK (and his allies) on the Group.
For a government that is for transparency this news is rather short. Not that much news has been brought to the citizens the last weeks. But I hope this will improve.
On the economic field I am not that positive. I have seen companies closing, I have seen times with no skill 0 jobs, I have seen that the wages dropped, and prices about stable. So I am very interested to hear why "economic opportunities arising". Of course I am glad that they do.
Last question: I like to vote in the coming elections to make them more fair than last time, but do I need to stay Belgian?
Congratulations steingrimmur 🙂 It was indeed a good week!
No news in the forum about Mark Decius has resign and Pander Sols is untraceable : For a governement who claim that Transparency is important : I see.
No translation in dutch and French also.
So translate it if you want Kravenn. English is an official language, so it isn't against the rules. And it is easy to nitpick about everything, but it won't improve any relations.
Looooool
Rember the I&W, GLD and LP opposition against the BP-LSD governement of people? And you speak about improoving relations? Is it a joke????
This is never your fault Kixtart, Better to say that it is the fault of others
slivever i think i like you
Dear Slivever, remember BP did not want to join the government?
What is your problem man.
Thanks for the report. A bit vague around the edges, but still informative. voted
Garmr, the fact that BP (and LSD) not wanted join I&W just to have some power is a good point for BP (and LSD).
By the way, i've answered to Kixtart who's speaking about "improoving relations" between governement and the majority of citizen (BP + LSD).
The fact is that you parties are realy harder than the majority of People (BP + LSD) when the Majority of People was on the governement.
The fact is that they tried to do it and will still try. When LSD and BP were in the gov other parties didn't only complain, but also really tried to be constructive and help.
Fact is that the Mapjority of People not believe you.
That you critise the former governement on everything.
And, that I&W ask to BP to come in the governement and debate of what ministry will be given to parties of governement BEFORE debate about what to do in the governement.
Fact is : you parties just want power, the only problem "solve" has been solved by UK and Majority of People might have some problem to trust the unfair (see how the Majority of People have been defeated... in a time were 2 belgians regions are occupied and with the come back of I&W member)
etc
I don't really understand all that you are tying to say, but I can say it isn't for power. Everyone has a chance to participate and if people refuse then it is somewhat a strange argument.
And I didn't criticize the old gov on everything. For me the only thing that I fully didn't agree on was that big decisions were made without consult of the people.
Sorry for the mistakes people, espescially the fact that Pander Sols is only the Secretary of State. My bad.
@Silvever - Because the BP/LSD governments were just one rip-roaring riot of problem solving utopia werent they? Let me remind you that said two regions were lost under a BP government.
By a I&W Ministries. Yes, i know Mister Fairfax!
And all of you explain that this poor guy can't do anything... (so bad!)
By the way, asking someone : do you want to be in the governement? Wich ministry do you want? Not really the best way to show that you are here for something other than POWER.
Try to explain that IRL, and show reaction of people. (very funny!)
"Not really the best way to show that you are here for something other than POWER"
LSD and BP are the definition of government for power. They cant have government, or the power (despite having no manifesto whatsoever) and they spit their dummies out!
Litle dwarf, i'm 100% sure they just not care about power.
