[UNL] Government news

Day 760, 04:19 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Ministerie van Media en Recrui

Anybody who has not been dwelling in a cave for the last week will be aware that this was a very successful time for the United Netherlands, and the government would like to thank everyone for their hard work in the fighting!

The obvious news for this week has been the victory in Flanders and Brussels over Highst and the Group. This has been a good early test for Phoenix, and one that has met with undoubted success. The government now asks UNL citizens who are currently resident in the United Kingdom after the attacks to return to the UNL, as fighting has finished. Moving tickets can be requested from the Ministerie van Defensie. The training wars between Russia and North Korea were postponed when fighting began in Flanders and Brussels, but are likely to resume again soon. The Ministerie van Defensie is always looking for new army recruits, who can enlist here - http://tinyurl.com/unlarmy

Debates and discussions surrounding the proposed merger with the United Kingdom are continuing, the government intends to hold the necessary referendum when discussions have defined the fine points of the merger. Discussions on the possible European Sub-Alliance are also continuing, there has been some difficulty due to inactive persons on the UK side, but contacts are now being made directly with UK president Mr Woldy on this subject. Trinc, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs asks that anyone interested in becoming an ambassador to a foreign country please put themselves forward. Citizens interested in becoming an ambassador should please contact Garmr, Flando, or Trinc himself.

Unfortunately we now have some bad news. Mark Decius has been forced to resign as Minister of Home Affairs due to some real life commitments. Whilst we are sad to see an active and experienced minister leave, he will be replaced by the very capable Steingrimmur. Pander Sols has become inactive and has resigned as Minister of Finance. He will not be replaced at the current time, and his roles will become the responsibility of the government as a whole.

The Ministerie van Economische reports that the economic outlook is very positive, and advises citizens that now is a good time to sell gold for NLG. Foreign investors are taking advantage of the current monetary situation, and the Ministerie advises citizens that now is a good time to invest in NLG.

The government is also looking for citizens with raw materials skill who are interested in working for UNL Mines abroad. Potential employees interested in this opportunity should contact Auggustus, the Minister for State Companies here - http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/1480208

This has overall been a good week for the United Netherlands, with economic opportunities arising and the victory over Highst and the Group. As ever though, the government asks its citizens to remain vigilant and ready for retaliation by EDEN, so we can effectively defend the United Netherlands if the group should return.
