Join the new world

Welcome to the first official TUP update since the Party President (PP) election, and - guess what - quite a lot has happened.

Before I continue, I'm the current TUP Spokesman, so I'll be using my newspaper to release official TUP information. All official TUP articles will be marked with [TUP] in the headline.

So, on with the news...



PP Election
Hopefully you're already well aware that Madelina de Melrose won the election and is our new TUP PP. After a fantastic campaign Madelina fought off BigAnt and his Vendetta stooges who tried, once again, to flood our party and get him voted in. They failed, and Madelina won by an impressive 80 votes to 41.

First of all, there are LOTS of people who need to be thanked for this victory - far too many to name individually. So I won't 🙂 However, if you're one of the following, the TUP owes you a debt of gratitude:

• > everyone who helped plan and execute the campaign
• > anyone who offered campaign advice
• > the candidates who withdrew from the election to prevent splitting the voted
• > everyone who shouted, PM'd or wrote support for Madelina
• > all the people outside TUP who supported us and spread the word
• > some key people outside of the party who sent some voters our way
• > most of all, the 80 people who voted Madelina to victory

So what does all this mean? Well, most importantly, the party is back in our own hands. For one month BigAnt held the party, and it caused havoc. He used it as a springboard to become the eUK Country President (CP), he flooded Congress with his own supporters, he changed the party emblem to the Vendetta symbol. He even changed the party name to Vote BigAnt at one stage. The only thing he didn't do was take any notice of the party itself.

Madelina has held the post for less than a week and - hopefully - you've already noticed a big difference. There's a lot more going on, and lots more activity within the party - especially on the TUP shoutbox. In particular there's been a big emphasis on the upcoming Congress election, especially with regard to attracting new candidates to put themselves forward as potential congressmen. Other News
The big news from outside the party again centres on BigAnt. Approximately two weeks after winning the CP election by a narrow margin, he has robbed the Bank of England and several key organisations (including some player investment schemes), taking virtually all the eUK's money. Then he cleared off. The fall-out of this is huge, and getting bigger all the time. Many people turned on Vendetta - BigAnt's traditional party - backing them into a corner.

At the same time that we were fighting to get Madelina elected as PP, a plot - called Operation Black Hand - was being carried out by others to take over the Vendetta party in a PTO (political take-over), by flooding their party and voting for a particular candidate (i.e. exactly what they did to us). Initially it seemed that the plan failed by one vote, but after a couple of days four multi accounts were banned by the game admins, this changing the result. Operation Black Hand succeeded.

This, combined with pasting BigAnt got in our own election and his subsequent Treasury theft, has sent Vendetta and BigAnt's government into a tailspin. Many Vendetta members have abandoned them, several key members have denounced BigAnt and moved on, most government ministers have resigned, BigAnt himself has been completely disgraced. The list goes on.

As I speak, a motion to impeach the president has been put to a congress vote. It currently has half an hour to go and is a certainty to be passed. This means that by the time you read this BigAnt will have been removed as CP and replaced by Prof J Moriarty

Any Other Business
As this is the first update and so much has been going on, it's been a long one (sorry!) I promise to make the next one more concise.

Make sure you send me your news, links to articles, anything else that you're up to and - as long as it's appropriate - I'll publicise it in the next update.

Most importantly, keep reading the party shoutbox (if you don't know what this is, just PM me and I'll sort you out). It's the main way of getting simple updates out to all party members, so it's important that you keep you eye on it. And keep supporting your fellow party members by reading their shouts, subscribing to their newspapers and voting,commenting and shouting their stuff. The TUP is a family, and we all support each other.
