The eNetherlands: Back to Business!
Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,
Those who have read the media lately, might have noticed something is up in the air. The Netherlands is Dead, according to some, while others tirelessly try to defend the supposed passivity of the eNetherlands. Citizens are either dying, quitting or leaving the eNetherlands (as I write this article I received the sad news that many members of the proud Bilberg Group are planning to leave the eNetherlands), while the remaining citizens are dividing the last meaningful titles of power between themselves .
In any case, there's much to be done to return to the fun and wellness of a few months ago. As honourable member of GPN, FrankieVB, remarked, the Netherlands has become to serious for a game like eRepublik. And there is truth in her words, we are currently playing Geo-Political Simulator 3 (our sole activity lately has been resigning bad treaties), instead of the simple and easy game of eRepublik.
I present you my plan to bring the Netherlands Back To Business.

ITS A WAR GAME
I can promise you one thing: There will be war coming in my term. There are lots of opportunities where we can stretch our muscles sensibly, despite what many pacifists try to argue against the warmongers. A enduring and lasting war against an equally strong nation/faction, is the best situation a nation can find itself in. Just look at the Baltics - small, but proud and exciting nations due to their everlasting wars with Scandinavian nations. And we had our taste of wars in the distant past, too, when we fought a war against Norway (in which we enlarged our country to the biggest extent it had ever been, by the way). War is good for (military, political and economic) activity, for foreign relations (the only bargaining chips eRepublik knows is brute force) and for the overall well-being of the eNetherlands.
It's time to bring out the guns.
Some Facts
During the war with Norway in my last CP term we ha
- Highest peak in online activity of citizens in 2014.
- Highest peak in dealt damage by our citizens in 2014.
- A massive boost of foreign relations, with The United Kingdom (for which we intervened after Norway invaded Scotland) and with Poland with whom we cooperated with operations in Scandinavia.
- The largest eNetherlands ever, consisting of 7 regions.
- Military Alliance Pacts with strong nations like Chile and Poland.
- (Political) activity and intrigue in the media and Congress.
SOME MINOR STUFF
- A conclusion on the future of the state-funded communes in the recently changed eRepublik economy. All calculations for our communes are based on the economy from months ago, before the houses and some other things were introduced. Currently, we're facing a different economy.
- (Population) growth is strength: Recently we've seen a debate arise about immigration, with some even proposing a full stop of immigrants. The strength of nations in eRepublik is only being defined by the amount of citizens each specific nation has. Even if we received many new Dutch citizens in the coming months, it would take years before they will turn into a strong Division 2 / Division 3 / Division 4 force. We need immigrants to boost those ranks, and don't forget we've received many valuable individuals from abroad. People like Aries Prime, Lancer450, Cody Caine & Gen. de La Rey.
- Renewed focus of making DAF the sole and primary force of the eNetherlands, both as unit to deal damage and win wars with, but also as first setting for new citizens to thrive in, instead of confusingly dying. This means that we want our top soldiers, currently in foreign Military Units, back serving for the Dutch banner and that we'll actively help new citizens, immediately from day #1 on.
- We need to find our backbone. Instead of being bossed around by Poland like we were last month - instead of the amiable and equal relations we had with them just a few months ago - and instead of being used by the USA to manipulate game mechanics in transferring regions between them and Mexico, we will sign at least one strong MPP to show we're an independent entity with our own will and relations.
- Transparency: The last months we've seen no updates by our government at all. We'll reintroduce them, but with a sense of humour instead of a political wall too long to read. (inb4 tl;dr).

And we held a German region for a moment when we took it from PL (block), and another time we held SEoE (another block).

Ah, you like children I see... I thought higher off you. But I should have known better, especially given the comments on Katy underneath the previous article off Tonie. I think we all can do without that kind of comments and one wonders what you want to proof/compensate from RL.
Well you certainly like to complain about anything and everything innit. Also, she's 21, also, I'm 25, in university, and I have no problem with girls around 20, which are abundant on my faculty.

I am not the one making personal attacks all the time, so you're not really the one to talk about behavior. And for the love of God please use your and you're correctly for once.
It's the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit.
Strong population will give faith and a long lasting bases to build on. War will prevent that where training and become strong first will most likely make us a better force. I don't think you're war plans will help us. Not to mention the costs for the gov although I have no clue on our income and spendings. Haven't seen a proper report for months so indeed some transparence like say 9 months ago would be nice.
Training is important however retaining new joiners is much more important. Most new joiners train themselves to death.
there is not much exciting in fighting hard, do 1000 kills and get 1 mil damage. Some other D1 player does that in say 20 kills. Key is train to get rewards later or die of boredom in the future as you will end up having no possible extra gold income. And you will need the gold/income to keep growing...
I took 3 BH's a day in D3 with like 40k str and topped USA leaderbords, easily somehow competing with the 70k str people in D3. Why? Because they're inactive and just train.
Nice article, but I'm still not giving up the worlds most uncomfortable throne.

That's not what I said, or at least not all I said so you've taken my words somewhat out of context. But whatever...
As long as your analysis why so many eDutch citizens stopped playing or emigrated to other countries is limited to concluding that there isn't enough fun and everything will be better once we fight more, your plan won't have any lasting effect. As I'm sure you know very well.
Politics decide whether we fight or not and with whom, and politics is where the trouble is. Unless some fundamental changes are made in eDutch politics and eDutch law, nothing will change.
Elaborate on the precise problems, and perhaps the possible solutions, and I will try to address them. For starters, I know that currently the laws are being rewritten, for example. Also, I feel like the political situation is improving once again, as the complete and unquestionable control of a coalition of 80% of the parties (partly because they can agree on the same things, partly because they feel threatened by certain parties), some might say, oligarchy, is hardly apparent any more.
And sorry if you felt I've taken your words out of context, but I wanted to shed the light on the several views we've seen recently in my introduction of the article. It's all meant in good faith.
It's still better then epix. Frankly, Frankie, I am leaving the country because we don't do anything. At least Tonie is trying to present some action, even if you think it is misguided. I strongly believe that we are at a point where any action is better then the inaction we face.

I think oligarchy is an excellent description of the still existing situation. If you disagree with that, then propose to put a limit on how many terms one and the same person can fulfill 'supposedly' non-political posts like CoC, dCoC and forum admins and see what happens. That is in my opinion where most issues in eNetherlands originate from.
Forum is private property, someone is paying for the domain and for the hosting. Forum administration shouldn't change every x months just because of political reasons. Forum administration shouldn't be politicized at all imho. Current admins are doing a good job so I don't see the problem.
admin positions are non political posts. and i can't recall any admins/mods abusing their rights for political gains. CoC/dCoC is a position that has changed hands quite a lot lately. and i believe that there are a couple young players that could take a turn at it soon. only problem is that those same people are also getting active in politics/gov so they have to make a choice. and 9 out of 10 times they choose gov positions.
We used to have an oligarchy. It's not quite that way anymore.
Admin posts should indeed be non-political, unfortunately in reality they are not as was clearly shown on several occasions in the past. Denying this is denying the real issues that cause the ongoing malaise in eNetherlands.
And they're not doing such a good job when a congress member isn't given access to the private Congress section after elections are they?
Concerning CoC and (d)CoC posts, I'm sure that if candidates conform themselves to the rules set by certain people, they can do their job fairly undisturbed. This doesn't change the fact however that several CoC's were harassed and abused because they didn't have the 'correct' political background. So no, CoC and (d)CoC posts should not be political posts either but they were made that way and with the same people still around I have no doubt it will stay that way.

so because some people use different names on the forum or only registered well after the election results and didn't speak up when they did the admins didn't do a good enough job....
those "abused" CoC's were not always following the laws or simply doing things to keep debates from not happening or simply threatening cm's because they didn't conform to the then ruling group, and where speaking out against certain decisions.
but it seems you have made up your mind and won't be able to see things differently.

Think again. We occupied eNOO only because we were asked to do so and were supported by eUK/ePL for the cause of eUK. It lasted 3 days and gained us nothing while it was told to our citizens it was needed to join Aurora. We all know what happened.
I wouldn't know the period Arcanic Mindje is referring to as "back in the days" tells me nothing. Could be he's referring to the TW we had against eBE during which we perhaps had 7 regions very briefly.
I do know however during one of my terms as MoF we had 7 regions as well during a period of 18 days (2195-2212).
