[MoE] August's National Shield Tournament Results

Hello eIreland,

I've noticed quite a few questions and a lot of talk about the results of the National Shield Tournament. I thought I'd shed some light on things by publishing an article. Not only do I have good news for all of you, but also some material for discussion when it comes to the ramifications of these new defence shields... but more on that below.

National Shield Event
This tournament lasted one week from Day 2087 to Day 2093 (August 7-13th) and rewarded players and nations based on their unique damage capabilities militarily. This gave eIreland an opportunity to compete. This was nice given that when it comes to tournaments purely based on raw total damage, we simply don't have the population to be a contender.

We ended up doing very well, placing 4th overall out of the 70 countries in eRepublik. I think our citizens also made out very well receiving rewards like strength, energy bars, gold, and bonuses to training and damage.



Additionally eIreland managed to fill the damage bar to 532%. In total we received 1900 gold in rewards! And not only that, but I'll tell you a little bit about the Q7 Defence Shield that we won for ourselves!

Quality 7 Defence Shield
Places 1 to 10 received Q7 Defence Shields as reward for their performance. A defence shield works as a wall that will absorb and cancel out damage from attackers.

The Q7 Defence Shield that eIreland won will absorb 10 billion damage.



This is a huge asset to a small nation like eIreland. When a region owned by eIreland is attacked, regardless of whether it's a campaign or resistance war, this shield will become active and begin absorbing damage.

However, not all 10 billion of our damage absorption can be used in one attack. The available amount is calculated by dividing the available defence shield capacity (10 billion for a start) by the number of regions in the country at the moment of attack. This amount is then divided equally among the first five battles.

The Shield Bonus for each battle is finally divided between the divisions as follows:

- Division 1: 5%
- Division 2: 10%
- Division 3: 15%
- Division 4: 70%

In battle when a defence shield is active an icon will display the amount which has been used.

Individual Rewards
The rewards available in the homepage banner can be collected until the end of the day 2095 (Tomorrow - Thursday, August 15). After this deadline the banner will be removed along with all the uncollected rewards.
