(Editorial) Today’s my 11th ebirthday

Day 4,827, 10:58 Published in USA USA by Josh Whitehead

Aw heck! You friggin found me. I'm sorry you found me. Terribly am. It was not meant to be this way but it is what it is.

I'm great at playing hide and seek. Just look at how long from this article and my previous article published dates are.

Any who, let's get typing....

11 years ago today, I was an emotionally constipated senior in high school. Just a pale four eyed kid trying to find his way in life. Whilst, I was playing browser based MMO games for about 3+ years.

Before eRepublik, I was playing a couple mafia games. You know how eRepublik is set up? That's how these Mafia games were set up. Minus the military module. I can't recall the game's names as it's been so friggin long ago but they were fun and sometimes they had advertisements.

Naturally, before Google Chrome and ad blockers became a thing I would get these random ads about random games and crap. eRepublik was one of them.

At the time, the creators, or admins gave me admin roles and then i went crazy and started banning all the top ranking players in the game, something like that. Hehehe

Anyways, after me going rouge, eRepublik had popped up and after all that Mafia life went behind me (still can’t find those games). I signed up for eRepublik. The rest is history.

MMO browser based games are not as big as they were in their heydays. Browser based MMO games, at the top of the early days were before your PS4/ Xbox/ PC multiplayer gaming experience became a thing. Before Call of Duty became a rehashed game each year. Before Lootcrates became a toxic gaming additive.

MMO browser or Mass Multiplayer Online slash RPG or Roll Player Game had a huge momentum. Surprisingly, there are a few games lingering that are still popular like World of Warcraft or Eve or Runescape 8-bit.

What a time a gamer's life it was.

eRepublik, at its time, was one of those new ideas that other developers never touched before, at the time. Mesh with politics, military and media into one. Or anything like that at all!

Browser gaming was the way to go! eRepublik, when i signed up for it it had over 240k players competing for Country President or Party President or whatever one's heart desired.

Kudos for them.

But, naturally, gamers evolve and their attention spans change.

Games become better, longer, faster, competitive and...simi-innovative. I am surprised how fast the gaming industry has changed.

Look at the current market; Loot crates are sadly a thing and now every major developer are creating their own version of Steam or Epic Games.

Sadly, and naturally it's tough to keep a strong gamer based and War of Warcraft is one of those few games. Always adding new content or tweaking so it's good for all. Mind you, I don’t play that game but that's just an example.

eRep, it's not. Sadly it has lost its touch years ago. Nothing new has been established. eRep is just a dying cash cow for the capital Hedge Funds mega corporate overlords who now own eRep.

eRep was sold a few years ago, 2018 I believe for a nice 7Million USD +/-..

IN fact, eRep still has a layout for Mayors and councilors but we have not been given an update.

In 2013, I submitted a ticket to the mods requesting an interview and for two years I was working with the same mod to get one with an admin. 8 years later I followed up and was shut down quicker than you can say “rage quit”.

11 years of eRepublik for me, today. I am pretty damn surprised I have played a game for that long, on and off. I made a lot of good friends in my tenure. I made a lot of cool experiences for myself.

I never had doubts about signing up 11 years ago and I don't have regrets. I look forward and cross my fingers eRep developers pull their heads out of their bums and bring new life in this game of ours.

If I were to win the lotto, I honestly would love to buy this game and really invest new and different life into it.

I’ve joined varies parties in eRep, moved to different eCountries and did some good.

I honestly have and still enjoy the community we have left here. Each of you are good folks and look forward to the next 11 years.

11 years man....that's a lot for a game.

So, here is a fake toast to all my fellow nerds to another decade of gaming. Rock on.

Cheers
