[CP] End of Term

Day 2,661, 08:02 Published in Belgium Belgium by eBelgian Presidency

Dear Citizens of Belgium,

This will probably be the last article I will write as your president this term. I want to use it to look back on my goals and show my appreciation for the people that helped me during this term.

In my presidential campaign I wrote an article about my program in which I stated a couple of keywords for this term; Community, Neutrality and Activity

Community

I think the community started to take steps in the right direction during this term, I've seen more people and discussions on IRC and even the forum is making its first babysteps towards more activity. The programs for rewarding community participation were introduced but not properly implemented yet due to the Montenegrin war. I hope to be able to further implement this programs in future governments.

Neutrality

During the term we have polished up the relations with mainly our direct neighbors and we haven't been making any enemies. The Montenegrin airstrike had nothing to do with our foreign policy but with them looking for some fun. While neutrality was the way to roll at the start of this term I think our course of action for the next term will be pretty clear; Orientation towards countries that fight Serbia which is the main engine behind Montenegro.

Activity

I've tried very hard to organize a training war during the first two weeks of my term, this unfortunately didn't work out the way I wanted to which caused our mainland to be without battles for a while. Activity sparked during the Montenegrin airstrike and all battles that followed and also the CO program seems to be cost effective to boost activity, I strongly suggest future governments continue tests with National CO's for low divisions.

I am very sorry to end my term with a wiped country but I thought and still think it's better to plan a well organized counterattack instead of spending the whole treasury on it. Besides that the wipe also protects us from hostile dictators for now so congress can figure out what to do with the new module.

I am glad to have given Belgium its possibly last congress for a long time, it was really close to failing due to Plato's weird rules regarding the elections but by proper planning from all parties involved we were able to gain a 20 man congress.

A big thanks goes out to my government team which was active, fun and very communicative. Also my gratitude to all the people that hop on IRC once in a while to have a chat, to me and many others you keep the fun in the game.

Well I guess this is it then, time to pass on the keys.

A salute to you o7,
MaartenW

PS
I've written all my articles to this song ... it is in my head since I saw a fireworks show to this music during the Edinburgh Military Tattoo this summer, enjoy! http://goo.gl/zdDp9x
