[AMP] Party Update and Interview with John Killah

Day 2,202, 20:56 Published in USA USA by Malarkey83

Hi AMPlifiers!

This is a quick update with what's going on.

On the 25th, we successfully sent 9 AMPs to Congress to represent us this month. We have a great lineup this month and I know they'll do our party proud.

As a reminder, our Congressmen for the 72nd Congress are as follows:

John Largo
Evry
Napalm Norm
J.Lucent
RegencyEra
Eric Vanderberg
Mr. Swagg
BeachBunny
George S. Patton Jr

In a nod to my past, I've decided to bring back an informative interview series I ran when I was a young player. I'll be conducting interviews with big name players all around the eUSA to help educate our youngest members about the game around them.

So first up, we have the AMPs (IMO) awesome-est player, John Killah. John has a storied history in erep and here are the highlights of his career: Former PotUS, Former Congressman (Many times), Former Secretary of Media, Former Party President of the AMP (4) and Resident AMP Oldfgt (25 months in Leadership and counting).

1. Who or what helped you the most when you were a new player?

Trial and Error xD I wasn't one to ask for help so I found out the hard way a lot of the things I know now. Big mistake really.

2. What is the biggest mistake you made early on?

Biggest of them all? Thinking Plato was on the players side :3 ... Just kidding, definitely what I said above - Not reaching out for help even though it was readily available.

3. What do you think would be the most valuable tool for new players to have?

Knowledge ... Since the saying goes "Knowledge is Power". They should look EVERYWHERE to try and understand what makes the game tick and take all the help and advice they can. After that, they can immerse themselves in their chosen field.

4. What should new players not waste their gold/money on?

Anything Plato is selling like Candy Bars and Bazooka parts. Focus on your training centers above all else.

5. Can you explain the difference between the in-game and meta-game experience? How have they affected your game play? Which would you prefer if given the choice?

The In-game is pretty bland but rooted in what is achievable by the means given to us, while the Meta-game allows us to explore our communities and creativity. They affected me in a pretty significant way since they taught me what was possible and what wasn't all the while making me more sociable with other players. If I had to choose one...Meta all the way.

6. Name one thing a new player can do (or has done) to impress you or get your attention (in a good way).

That's a tough one ... I'd say to show patience and understanding in the Meta-game. Sometimes they push too hard to get what they want, and that puts people off. If you take your time and put in hard work and effort, you'll be accepted and given more than you would of by said pushing. That's what has always got me.

7. Players have said/claimed that eUSA is mostly ruled by a small group of "elites" who have acquired enough power to manipulate the system so that this power group is essentially closed indefinitely. How do you respond to that?

Pft, I have a bone of contention with that whole idea. People believe if you do certain things, you're an elitist ... It's too wide a phrase now and means we lose sight of who really is trying to underhandedly hold power. Are there some? Yeah, there are people like that, who feel entitled to what they have and work to keep it that way, but it's not as many people as some would claim. Do they rule the country? God no ... Or last months CP Elections wouldn't of gone how they went. Ignore the chatter of "Elitism" and focus on the more important aspects - Community and Sociability.

Follow up: Is there a realistic chance for a player just joining today for the first time to be successful at the highest levels of this game in the long term. If so, how?

Oh god yes. The game is full of opportunities, you just have to follow what I said in #6 ... Patience, Understanding and Hard Work will eventually pay off into opening up the possibilities to you. I was in the game 2 years before I took a shot at PotUS. I earned that chance. Always think of the long term, and take those advantages over short-term ... It's more satisfying in the end.

For any players who are interested in getting involved in any way, shape or form, feel free to PM me at any time either in game or on the forums. I would love to have each and everyone of you from our oldfags all the way down to the newest members of this party. Deputy Director and staff positions are open, or you can apply to be an Intern.
