Aclaraciones sobre la declaración de guerra a Portugal.

En el mes de octubre se produjo una reunión entre los gobiernos de España y Portugal para alcanzar una solución a la pérdida de Norte, la cual estaba en posesión de España como parte de un anterior acuerdo. Se realizó un boceto del potencial pacto y debido a la prolongación de la reunión hasta bien entrada la noche se pausó para continuar otro día cercano. Siendo así, en la continuación de esta reunión en un día distinto se terminó de perfilar la propuesta española, habiendo terminado de añadir los puntos que España no llegó a presentar en el primer día de reunión. Los puntos del pacto relevantes a este asunto es que España no vetaría la entrada de Portugal en ACT como muestra de buena voluntad, mientras Portugal se comprometiera a no ejercer una libre oposición abierta a España dentro de la alianza.

Esto se traducía en que Portugal no podría proponer la entrada de países hostiles a España, miembro fundador de TWO, como candidatos a ser miembros de la alianza; medida completamente lógica dado que cuando ayudas a un país a entrar en tu alianza quieres que sea tu aliado, no tu oponente. Portugal tampoco podría involucrarse en ninguna votación referente a estos países y debería retirarse de las mismas a petición propia (siendo así para no entrar en conflicto con las normas de TWO, por las cuales un país no puede controlar el voto de otro. De esta manera, este punto del tratado se moldeaba perfectamente a la legalidad de la alianza), aparte de no renovar MPP con los mismos durante sólo un mes. Quedan así demostradas falsas las desafortunadas acusaciones del gobierno portugués diciendo que España les exigiría vetar la entrada a países en ACT. Como ya se ha mencionado, España a cambio ofrecía paz, la devolución a Portugal de regiones a corto y largo plazo, apoyo militar en las campañas de Portugal y el retiro del veto para entrar en ACT; lo cual suponía un gran paso y sacrificio para nuestro país.

Los representantes portugueses solicitaron una prórroga de un día para debatir el pacto. Varios días después nos transmitieron su respuesta: habían decidido que sólo aceptarían algunas de las propuestas españolas, mientras rechazaban las demás. El Gobierno español mantuvo firme su posición, ya que la propuesta fue cerrada durante la reunión anterior que es cuando se llevó a cabo la negociación, y estaba a la espera de una respuesta por parte de los portugueses. Finalmente no aceptaron la mano que le tendía España y durante el resto del mes de octubre las relaciones diplomáticas con el país vecino fueron planas.

En noviembre se mantuvo el mismo equipo de gobierno en España y parte del portugés. El día 6 se intentó un acercamiento por parte de España hacia Portugal con el objetivo de resolver el problema por la vía diplomática antes de recurrir a la acción militar, puesto que Norte seguía en manos portuguesas, no obstante Portugal se negó siquiera a negociar.

Ante esta situación y la incomprensible tozudez de los líderes portugueses, España se ha visto obligada a recurrir en última instancia a la recuperación de Norte por la fuerza. Durante las negociaciones del mes pasado se hizo saber a Portugal de la posibilidad que esto podría ocurrir si no se llegaba a un acuerdo, por lo que nuestros vecinos eran perfectamente conscientes de las consecuencias de sus actos, fueron advertidos y el que avisa no es traidor.

Por otra parte, España pudo prever la pérdida del MPP con Grecia; no obstante, el equipo de AAEE ha trasladado al gobierno griego su intención de pagar la totalidad del coste del MPP perdido, aportando así solución a este asunto. Quedan así pendientes la renovación de nuestros MPPs con Grecia y Eslovenia.

Lamentamos que Portugal haya decidido aparentar un papel de víctima, apelando al honor y razón moral que dicen tener pero que han demostrado carecer. Pero no os engañéis, España no ha pretendido hacer de Portugal una marioneta ni muchísimo menos, como ya se le transmitió repetidamente a los representantes portugueses en las diferentes reuniones. Estas acusaciones sin fundamento son totalmente falsas, porque como ya se ha explicado España no tendría poder alguno para controlar las decisiones de Portugal en la alianza.

Hay que recordar que Portugal desespera tratando de enfatizar su supuesto carácter proTWO, sin embargo habiendo rechazado una oportunidad para entrar en ACT y tratando de ganar el favor de la alianza en detrimento de uno de sus miembros fundadores en esta recién declarada guerra, no son consecuentes con sus palabras. Claman a los cuatro vientos por el honor de sus palabras y lealtad a sus aliados y amigos, sin embargo tras meses de repetirle a sucesivos gobiernos españoles su supuesta intención de entablar una amistad de confianza mutua, aún no han sido capaces de demostrarlo y la población española tiene sobrados motivos para desconfiar -sumado al hecho de que en el historial de las relaciones hispanoportuguesas, siempre han sido ellos quienes han roto o cancelado los sucesivos pactos que se han firmado-.

Es por todo esto que España, un país serio, no puede tolerar ningún toreo ni puñalada por la espalda por parte de Portugal. Al abrir este frente se pretende debilitar el escudo portugués para así poder recuperar la región que nos cedieron en un pacto y que recuperaron, aprovechando que teníamos otros frentes abiertos, con dicho pacto aún vigente.

Siendo Portugal un país que en sobradas ocasiones ha demostrado no ser digno de confianza, hemos recurrido a la única opción que nos han dejado. Les tendimos la mano; ofrecimos una oportunidad de formar parte de nuestra alianza, nuestra amistad; que supondría el fin de muchos meses de guerras, ocupaciones y desconfianza mutua. Pero lo rechazaron y ahora nos llaman traidores y mentirosos. El daño que han hecho a las relaciones entre ambos países es difícilmente reparable -no imposible-, especialmente el proseguir con sus ataques a nuestras decisiones más que razonables sin admitir su error y culpa en este conflicto que han provocado. España está decepcionada con la manera inmadura con la que se ha conducido Portugal.

Para terminar, nos gustaría agradecer a nuestros aliados el apoyo que nos están brindando. España es un país leal con una trayectoria intachable que practica la máxima expresión de honor con sus amigos y la evidencia lo muestra. Es por esto que agradecemos a Polonia (¡Viva Spoland!), Eslovaquia, Venezuela como miembros de TWO con la campaña del día en Norte. Gracias enormes a Serbia, por la pegada conjunta serbohispana. También miembros de TWO los cuales han aportado un daño considerable y visible aún sin campaña del día; en general a nuestra alianza TWO por supuesto; gracias a muchos países que han ofrecido oficialmente su ayuda; a muchos jugadores brasileños por su explícito apoyo y a todos aquellos individuos que muestran su apoyo por nuestro país moral y militarmente.


Dos puntos a añadir:
1. Portugal fue invitado por el secretario general de TWO de turno a atacar Canadá antes de que se firmara un PNA con ellos. También se le ofreció atacar Méjico. De esta manera Portugal habría roto su inmovilismo para embarcarse en una aventura americana, obteniendo más regiones que sus originales en Europa. No quisieron.
2. Recientemente a raíz de un malentendido entre los presidentes español y estadounidense, Estados Unidos ha declarado la ayuda a España en Norte a cambio de la devolución de Maine. Esto no es cierto, ya que España ni el Presidente Rolbap han acordado dicho trato. Se han iniciado conversaciones con representantes estadounidenses para resolver este malentendido.


Aunque Portugal trate de arrancarnos a muchos de nuestros aliados mediante su traicionera campaña de desinformación y troleo, la unidad de TWO prevalecerá. La cuestión aquí es una guerra entre un miembro fundador de TWO y un país sin alianza, por lo que no hay lugar a ningún dilema moral. ¡TWO, no permitas que Portugal te fragmente! Una vez más, gracias a todos nuestros aliados.

Clarifications on the declaration of war against Portugal.

On October a meeting between the governments of Spain and Portugal was held to reach an agreement regarding the loss of the region Norte, which was in possession of Spain as part of a previous deal. An unfinished draft of the potential pact was put together and due to the extension of the meeting well into the night it was paused to carry on with it on a different day. Being as it was, the meeting was resumed on a different day and the unfinished Spanish proposal was finally put together, having added the points which Spain did not yet came to present on the first day. The relevant points of the matter are Spain would not veto the entrance of Portugal in ACT as a show of goodwill, while Portugal would commit to not exercise an open opposition against Spain within the alliance.

This translated as Portugal would not propose the entrance of countries hostile to Spain, a TWO founding member, as candidates to become members of the alliance; a completely logical measure since when you help a country into your alliance you expect it to be your ally, not your opponent. Portugal could not get involved either in any voting processes regarding these countries and should withdraw from them at their own request (being so to avoid conflicts with TWO rules, by which a country can not control the vote of another. This way, this part of the agreement was perfectly compatible with the alliance’s legality), appart from not renewing with these enemy countries for a month only. Hence the unfortunate accusations by the Portuguese government claiming Spain would demand them to veto the entrance of countries into ACT are proven false. As already mentioned, Spain in return offered peace, the devolution to Portugal of regions in the short and long term, military support in Portugal’s campaigns and the lift of our veto for them to enter ACT; which meant a great step and sacrifice for our country.

The Portuguese representatives requested a one day delay for them to debate about the pact. Several days after they contacted us to let us know their answer: they decided to be willing to accept only some of the Spanish proposals, while rejecting the others. The Spanish Government stood firmly in its position, since the proposal was closed during the previous meeting which is when the negotiations took place, and was awaiting a response from the Portuguese. Finally they did not accept the hand Spain offered them and for the rest of the month diplomatic relations passed rather flat.

On November Spain kept its October cabinet due to the re-election of the CP and some Portuguese MoFA team members also kept their positions. On November 6th Spain tried to approach Portugal with the aim of solving the problem by diplomatic means, before having to resort to militar action, since Norte was still in Portuguese hands, however Portugal refused to even sit down and talk.

Facing this situation and the incomprehensible stubbornness of the Portuguese leaders, Spain has been forced into the last possible option of recovering Norte by military means. During last month’s negotiations Portugal was informed about the possibility this could well happen if an agreement was not reached, so our neighbours were perfectly aware of the consequences of their actions, they were warned so they can not claim they did not know we would attack.

Also, Spain could forsee the loss of the MPP with Greece; Spain has already stated its intention of paying for the whole cost of the MPP, thus providing a solution to this issue. The renovation of our MPPs with Greece and Slovenia is still pending.

We regret that Portugal decided to take a role as victims, appealing to a honour and moral reasons which they claim to have but have proved to lack. But do not let yourself be fooled, Spain has not pretended to make Portugal its puppet at all, as the Portuguese representatives were constantly told during the various meetings. These basis-lacking accusations are totally false, because as already explained, Spain would have had no power to control Portugal’s decisions within the alliance.

It is also worth remembering that Portugal desperately tries to emphasize its so-called pro-TWO stance, while having rejected an opportunity to enter ACT and trying to gain the alliance’s favour to the detriment of one of its founding members, on this recently declared war; means Portugal is not being consistent with their word. They persistently claim for the honour of their words and loyalty to their allies, however after months of telling successive Spanish governments of their supposed intention of becoming friends with mutual trust, they have not yet been able to prove so and the Spanish population has more than enough reasons to distrust -added to the fact that along the history of Spanish-Portuguese relations, it has always been them who broke or cancelled the various pacts that were signed-.

It is for all these reasons that Spain, a serious country, can not tolerate any tricks and backstabs by Portugal. By opening this front we pretend to deplete the Portuguese shield in order to be able to recover the region which they ceded to us in a pact and which they took back, taking advantage of a moment when we had many other fronts open at once, with said pact still in place.

Being Portugal a country that in ample occasions has proved itself untrustworthy, we resorted to the last option they left us with. We offered them our hand; a chance to be part of our alliance, our friendship; which would mean the end of months worth of wars, invasions and mutual distrust. But they rejected it and now they call us traitors and liers. The damage they have done to the relations between both countries is hardly repairable -not impossible-, particularly continuing with their attacks against our more than reasonable decisions without admitting to their mistake and guilt on this conflict which they have provoked. Spain is disappointed with the immature manner in which Portugal conducted itself.

To finish, we would like to thank our allies for the support they are kindly providing us with. Spain is a loyal country with an undeniable trajectory which practices the maximum expression of honour towards its friends, as proven by evidence. Therefore we thank Poland (Hail Spoland!), Slovakia and Venezuela as TWO members who had their CotD in Norte for us. Great thanks go as well to Serbia, indeed, for the joint Serbo-Spanish strike aimed at building up a stronger TWO spirit. Also all our alliance’s countries that contributed with a great damage even without CotD, the TWO alliance in general of course; several countries that officially offered us invaluable help, thank you too; many Brazilian players for their explicit support and all those individuals who showed their support morally and damage-wise.


Two details to point out:
1. Portugal was invited by the then TWO secretary general to attack Canada before a NAP with them was signed. They were also proposed to attack Mexico. This way Portugal would have moved from its cores to embark on an American adventure, gaining more regions than their originals in Europe. They did not want to.
2. Recently, due to a misunderstanding between the Spanish and USA presidents, the United States officially declared Spain would hand them Maine back in exchange for damage on the Spanish side in Norte. This is not so, since Spain nor President Rolbap have agreed to this. Talks with USA representatives have been held to solve this misunderstanding.


Even though Portugal attempts to pull many of our allies away from us by their treacherous misinformation and trolling campaign, the unity of TWO will prevail. The matter here is a war between a TWO founding member and a alliance-less country, so there is no room for a moral dilemma here. TWO, do not let Portugal divide you! Once again, thanks, our allies.
