The Magic of Daily Orders

Day 2,915, 19:41 Published in Ireland Ireland by Shytach
Daily orders are an important part of eLife. But sometimes, they break and nearly everyone either cries a lot or goes completely and utterly insane.

The problem, I think, for most people is not understanding why there is no DO. So let's look at a few things and hopefully some of you might whine less the next time it happens. Or, more likely, still whine because you didn't read or understand...whatever.

Let's start with this button:

On that page is listed every active campaign in the whole eWorld. Helpful. But perhaps we might understand it a bit better.

This is a rather common thing you might see on this magical page of campaigns:

Now, anything listed here (when it isn't empty as in the picture) is available to be set as the DO for any military unit based in Ireland.
Not to worry, even when we aren't currently fighting involved in a campaign, there may be other campaigns available for the daily order.

This, however, is a bit more worrisome:

One may notice that neither Ireland nor any of its allies has any open campaigns. This, as far as daily orders go, is a problem. It means there are no campaigns available for the commander/second commander/captain to set as DO for an Irish MU. However, when this section does have more than zero campaigns listed, all are fair game for actively set daily orders.

"But that isn't everything on the war page!" you might say (if you were polite and courteous).
True, but as far as daily orders go, we really don't care about anything below this:

"Why?" you may ask. Simple: any campaign listed under this heading on the war page is either a) a resistance war involving an allied country or b) for a non-allied country (meaning we can't set it as the DO anyway).

Not being able to set non-allied countries as the DO makes sense, we aren't friends so we don't care about their fights (or something like that).

But what about the resistance wars involving one of our allies? It's a resistance war. No one has allies in a resistance war. Think of it as the imaginary friend of campaigns: not real to anyone else.

Now, there is a way for a campaign listed under "all campaigns" to end up as the DO. But MU priorities are weird and/or involve black magic and no discernible sense, so I have no idea how exactly they work as far as deciding which campaign it will auto-set if there are multiple campaigns that match priorities. Plus, to fight in any campaign listed in that section, you would have to move and we all know how much people love to complain about doing that.
