The Key to eRepublik Success

Day 515, 01:06 Published in USA USA by Ananias

I am pleased to announce that later tonight, finally, I will get the final ten points necessary to reach one thousand experience points, graduate to level 18 and receive 5 gold for my efforts. To many that will seem like a “nothing” feat, but to me it is a vindication for remaining a part of eRepublik. Many watched as I let the “player-killers” of eRepublik get to me; and I took a short vacation from eRepublik to regain my bearings. After I returned several of my friends helped me out financially to get back on my virtual feet, and for that I am grateful, probably more so that I should be for a game, but grateful nonetheless. After awhile I was able to repay the loans I received, they were offered as gifts, but I accepted them as loans…and for those of you that are wondering, after repayment, I have a total of 2 gold and 4 USD in my account and I do not own a business because I want to avoid a conflict of interest while serving in Congress.

And yet, I am virtually rich because I decided to stick with eRepublik long after several "player-killers", that were thrilled to see me go the first time, lost interest in me.

Early yesterday morning I wrote an article about my efforts to provide an opportunity to run for congress to the members of USWP, and it appears that I offended some of the congressional candidates that had, as recently as last term, run under the USWP flag. Yesterday, one of the most respected members of the eUS Congress and one that I truly admire and appreciate, Tiacha, Congresswoman from New Jersey, retired from Congress for several reasons, a major one of which was my effort to provide that opportunity to the members of the USWP. Dbuck2001 and Claire Littleton, also members of congress, are also deeply disappointed, from what I understand, about my efforts to provide opportunity to the members of the USWP. So, while I remain unapologetic for my advocacy of my fellow party members, I do want to publically acknowledge that I regret any damage to our relationship as congressional colleagues, and more importantly, fellow laborers for the success of the eUnited States of America.

I know that many new players can attest to a similar eRepublik experience as I have had. I two-clicked for several weeks, voted for players I knew nothing about, joined a party after a cursory glance at their published information, worked every day to obtain that first hard worker medal, and waited for a battle that I could actually participate in…and waited…and clicked…and waited….and clicked…

…and then, in December, I received a Private Message from GoBucks asking me if I was interested in running for Congress. I really had no idea what I was doing when I said “Sure” but I did so anyway…and the results? I received a profanity laced tirade from a famous competitor, Michael Lewis, and I read an article from another famous competitor, NoneSuch, that basically indicated that in a competition between dirt and Ananias, dirt would win every single time and twice on Sundays…so I resigned myself to ultimate defeat…but I was going to give it my best shot, because the USWP had given me the opportunity…and I am truly fortunate to have won the election (I think everyone should experience that feeling at least once).

If you are a new player, or even if you have been around for awhile, the key to your success and engagement in eRepublik is not charity, though many would like to have you think that…

The key to success in eRepublik is opportunity.

There are several programs out there that are great to help you survive in eRepublik, and, at the beginning, survival alone is critical. Programs like Meals on Wheels and the USWP Wellness Programs will help you survive your first couple weeks of life, and they are outstanding programs for that purpose. But once you get past the point of needing aid to survive and move to a desire to engage and thrive, the altruistic model of providing the basic necessities of survival often becomes a cage of dependency in which patrons roam past, pointing at you, and patting themselves on the back for contributing to your virtual survival due to their generosity and magnanimity.

At some point it clicks, and suddenly you realize that you require opportunity rather than charity to progress

In eRepublik, just like in any other MMORPG, you seek an edge rather than just survival. And, frankly, as the Party President of the United States Workers Party, I am in a unique position to provide that edge if you are willing to be an active contributor to providing opportunities to other members and are willing to add value for the organization. If you are comfortable with survival alone, the eUnited States of America will accommodates your needs very effectively, but, when you graduate to seeking opportunities, the USWP is the paramount vehicle for your success.

So, to those that get angry and frustrated that the USWP wants to provide opportunities for its members, whether by Congressional candidacy or contributory leadership roles within the USWP, I respond unequivocally that we are committed to more than just our member’s survival, we are committed to our members success.

And the commitment to that success is evidenced by our embrace and promulgation of opportunity for all contributing members of the USWP regardless of eRepublik age.

Thank you for reading this wall o’ text, I appreciate your time immensely.

Ananias, Congressman for Florida, USWP Party President
