The Economist ~ Energy pack incoming!

Day 2,319, 11:12 Published in Poland United Kingdom by Spite313

Dear friends,

I received an email today- probably many of you did- about a new “energy pack” coming tomorrow. The energy pack will have gold, bombs and energy bars, but most importantly will contain a 200 health house and +20 health per six minutes for all that buy it. This means many people, myself included, will have 40 health per six minutes as of tomorrow. That is 400 health an hour or 9600 a day. That means an insomniac player on a mission could burn through 96 Q7 guns in a single day using food fights alone.

Now there are two questions here, which are somewhat related. The first question is how many guns are used currently, and by who. Now according to the wonderful eGov, the daily ‘tank’ (number of hits) for the last week has hovered around 8 million per day. Now assuming half of those hits are with Q7 (it is probably more) that is 400,000 Q7 guns per day being used. Now how many people actually use them? Again according to eGov it is about 30,000. Now we already said half of hits will probably be from people fighting with rubbish guns or their hands, but the ratio won’t be the same for fighters. I guess about a third of fighters do half of the hits- and it’s a curve. Probably a tenth of fighters do a quarter of the hits.

Now it is that hardcore group - players who use 20 or so Q7 guns a day already - who this offer will affect. They are hitting to their maximum now, they will hit to their maximum with the new offer if they can. So let’s say out of the thirty thousand fighters, three thousand of them buy the pack. The admins make a cool thirty thousand euros (not bad, Plato) and three thousand people are doing double damage. Now if my totally speculated figures are about right, that hardcore group can now hit up to 48 more times a day. Let’s settle on an average of 30 times more. That’s about 90,000 more guns. Or a 25% increase in demand for weapons overnight.

They don't make 'em like they used to

What’s more, this is not a day or week long change. This is a permanent increase. Now the question is how much slack there is in the market- I guess food will run out first since that isn’t really something people invest in (except me HO HO HO). Next weapons will begin to slowly rise (initial spike when people panic buy, then fall, then slow rise). If there are a lot of idle Q7 factories lying around, I guess prices could stabilise. But I’m willing to bet there aren’t enough for it to happen without a signficant and lasting hike in prices. Possibly by as much as 4-6cc in the major economies, at least until the 150-200 extra Q7 factories needed to meet demand open. Not sound like much? That’s a cool 100-135k gold, or 447 maximum gold packs if you’re Romper.

In any case, I’ve been waiting for a big price rise to fill out my poor empty wallet and this should do nicely. Happy shopping!
