It's clear that if I'd been active in politics, I would have proposed a "third option" different from what we have now, with people that are not too involved in each extremism (in favor or against PTO groups).

The solution will probably come from that. One day.

1. They disregarded the countries laws and customs, attacked and outright insulted members of this community. Those are facts you choose to ignore.

What is a wipe: a protective measure you and your friends have worked on to make them fail the first two times it was tried and people attempted other solutions (inviting ATO groups) to stall the wipe. While I agree it's better to debate it openly, the fact remains that you empowered the hostile eBelgians and the two small foreign PTO groups they managed to invite in, requiring a far longer wipe for it to be an effective solution.

3. You still have time to install this, nothing stops you from that aside from your lack of action.

4. People get that you don't like the wipe because you don't see the end of the tunnel, well the end is hard to predict. If certain groups of people hadn't resisted a wipe for so long the problem would already have been solved.

5. PTO becomes an increasingly large problem as their numbers grow.

6. Loser mentality, exactly what a PTO group would be hoping to find.

7. What did you need these reserves for ? A better way to land them in your personal pockets ? A state shouldn't have 3000% of annual tax income in reserves.

8. And TBC is good at making decisions, or just good at planning to be absent for a whole week of a CP term and not letting his voters and supporters know ? Perfect plan to get elected.

9. You deserve to be shunned, after lying to your electorate, after abandoning your government in times of need, after holding congress hostage with the money from BM. And you can hold grudges but that doesn't stop you from working together with others when facing a third party threat.

Jeiry, I'm certain there is a use in having a reasonable amount of money in the treasury as reserves for cases like the present one. That is also why I was at the origin of the forum law requiring for 500,000 cc to remain in the treasury. I think it's a pitty people never found a way to get you to participate in more debates because contrary to what my hard style of debating might suggest, I'm reading every view and taking it into consideration. At one point in the past, I tried to implement a "take into account the treasury needs to last 9 months on the expenses you make in one month."-idea. This has not been followed and instead, more money got put into state accounts through competition rewards of the admins.

Perhaps it was spent too fast to get lasting benefits but the fact is that it had been necessary to spend a good part of the treasury for over a year now and JdlF as MoF and as CP has never had an idea or the courage to propose new methods of spending to congress, However when NLSP implemented Gold schemes he has been on the first rows to fill his pockets. That is why I made the snarky comment.

The fact that BNA for example has no more supplies today is related to the manner in which money (up to 250.000 cc a month) was spent. The fact that it was spent this way and not in a manner to provide a structural solution for the future is due to certain elements in eBelgian society who can not cope with the fact that the "forum elite" wished to spend money to encourage cohesion and activity.

Do share though, today eBelgium still has around 300,000 cc and 450 Gold how much do you believe the country would need, and how much of these reserves could be spent ?

To my opinion, eBelgium (being a very small country) needs to keep at any time the amount of money necessary to be able to face a long war against a much bigger country.

"be able to face" = pay enough foreign fighters to win fights.
"a long war" = not just a fight one day for one region, but a durable war lasting a few weeks.
" a much bigger country" = Poland would be too big to handle, but I'm talking of countries having the size of France or England.

NB : I don't care about alliances arguments, because alliances are changing over the time. On the long run, we need to try to rely on ourselves as much as possible, not depending on others.

I don't know how much that would be necessary, but when I read that we can't afford too many Mutual Protection Pact, I doubt that there's not enough in the treasury to fulfill that objectives. And if you have less than what's necessary to fulfill this objectives, then, to my opinion, we don't have enough money in treasury.

@Jeiry: eBelgium can not win against any neighbours on its own, it doesn't matter how much money you throw at it. When it comes to regions, you're in a priviledged position, your regions are useless for your neighbours and your neighbours have regions that interest any big country so it's impossible for you to have a long lasting war with any enemy.

eBelgium however, must be one of the only nations that has more div4 high strength expats then high strength players that stayed inside the country. So when you look at Belgian output, in case of a serious attack, you're always able to count on a goodwill bonus from a large group of people. Often people who hold some form of soft power over other groups of people.

The main reason you can't afford MPP is that Congress moved all the money to orgs instead of letting some sit in the country accounts. The MoF seems to be unwilling or incapable of putting it back into the treasury.
To add to the problem, eBelgians don't buy their weapons on the eBelgian market. Big producers (or those capable of it with a Belgian market license) don't sell there either because there's not enough sales per day. There is no financial loyalty to the country and with the bot gone, and the consecutive government teams doing nothing to raise income outside of the tax mechanics there's no hope to get any form of decent income to those country accounts.
Another reason is that the financially solid players have left eBelgium over time and there is only very little employment inside the country.

- we can't rely on our small population in case of war (did I say something else ?).
- we have many expats willing to help us (thanks to them).

But does your comment change any single thing about my own comment above and the objective that I talk about ??? No.
These are additional facts. But it's not because we can rely on some expats (and I'm glad about it) that we can't keep a large amount of money to pay and attract as much as we can independent foreign fighters into our battles. It's one more think to add to our defense and it should be thought that way. In case of a close war, that could count, it's not a detail.

Jeiry, that still doesn't tell me how much you would want for that in the treasury. Realistically the maximum ever spent on a single war in eBelgium was about 500.000 cc, including emergency MPP (it can be more but I'm certain the current MoF could answer that)

I think the political option of keeping 5.000.000 cc in the treasury and not spending taxes on the population's needs (ie. investing in their strength and rank so that they're stronger and require less of a need for foreign help) is not a good political choice.

I don't know how much, I let that part to the Minister of Finance, I was just talking in term of objectives (with the feeling that the actual amount is not enough) and to your polemical point 7 "What did you need these reserves for?".

On first sight, if you're talking about 500.000 cc for a single war, I would say something like 2.000.000 cc as a reserve. But I'm not an expert.

Investing in population's ranking is also a good thing, but it also have its weaknesses (player quitting the game or changing nationality) and it shouldn't forbid us to count on a substantial currency reserve in case of a real war. It's a matter of national security (as much as we can talk like that for a game) and international independence.

The biggest amount in eBe history to spend on war, is exactly 500k cc, that has been spend from the end of MaryamQ's term (start of the wipe), up to the liberation of eBe (end of Fhae's december term). More than half of this was used during the liberation as CO.
While money certainly helps us, in the end what matters mostly is people throwing their personal resources into the battle or wide support from the involved country. There is no amount of money that could get us liberated from poland, against poland's explicit wishes.

The reserve we have right now, is actually quite comfortable as long as there is no national army. An national army is, if well supplied, a huge costs that eBe can't sustain with it's income. One can complain that certain government actions costed too much, however that money was distributed fairly over all eBe citizens that wanted to participate, while in the other case, it would just have gone to the select group part of BNA.

Structural supply systems have been used succesfully (and cost-cutting) in eBelgian Military MU's, however jalousy and false accusations have ended most of these systems. Also, even holding a staggering 5.000.000 BEF, wouldn't be enough to fight back against poland. Maybe temporary we could destroy them, but in the end, we would lose. in that case, the endresult would be: loss of a huge amount of money without any real result and that money would mainly have gone to foreign mercenaries without any link to eBe. I think that supporting all our citizens (not only the forum-going ones) was a much better choice.

More was spent than needed to win if I remember well.

Note that I don't believe extra large amounts would be enough but I'm more focus on activity things like DOF and programs which are great ways to maintain some kind of community.

And yes a budget has to be maintained in case of war. Like it was used against eFrance by Alexandross.

Well, we all know that you were always saying that Res Belgica did not do anything for the sake of eBelgium, even when MaryamQ and I were always helping you while you were organizing all of those strategic voting forms. I oversaw both president and congress elections, which were the elections which were important to me with the approval of the CP of the time (Instead some others tried to PTO HOPE and provoke a war with the UK against the CP and congress wishes during mcKitkat's term).
I tried to get the PTO parties out of the top5, with some siuccess.
I also oversaw party president elections to AVOID (I repeat TO AVOID) that loyal parties (like Res Belgica, or ATO, or TBD, or BLP) would have been PTOed by PTOers. It was a normal anti-PTO activity.

On the othere hand, the idea of PTOing other parties was not up to me. When I helped, I did it only to avoid you to do big failures: in fact, now that I left belgiun, when you tried alone to PTO the liberation front, the result was that you were counter-PTOed by them, and Res Belgica, for the first time since ever, taken over by PTOers!

So, please learn to understand the difference beween doing anti-PTO activity (defending parties from PTOs), and instead attacking other parties through PTO activity. I know that a lot of people thinks that it is the same thing (and acts and talks accordingly), but it is not: they're different activities.

So don't blane me when considering the PTO of other parties: because it was outside my responsibility.
Instead, if you want to blame me for defending parties (like R😎, until I left ebelgium, ok, i take full responsibilities: dear PTOers, if you failed to take over RB in the past, it's my fault!
