So how about those Country Presidents and Dictators.

So how about those Country Presidents and Dictators

I have done something I hadn’t done in years playing this game. I had to read the wiki to understand what Dictatorship actually means because it was implemented while I was inactive.

At first glance I can see it is expensive and it is Military Unit based. Woohoo for my deductive skills \o/

The commander of a military unit can attempt a military coup in the country where the military unit is located in. The following requirements have to be fulfilled in order to start the military coup:
200,000 or more currency on the military unit’s account (the starting cost)
The country has at least one region left
The current capital is not under attack
The country does not have a dictator in office
There hasn't been a successful revolution in the last 10 days
If all conditions are met, 200,000 currency is deducted from the military unit’s account and a “support period” starts. It lasts for 3 hours and allows other military units in that country to support the military coup. The decision of supporting lays on the commanders. The action of supporting is free. If a military unit doesn't support the military coup, it’ll automatically be set to fight for the current government and democracy.

For more details on how the actual Military Coup works and how the revolution can be started, I suggest you do the same and look it up on the erepublik wiki page

The Dictator exists parallel next to a Country President and Congress, and elections are still going on, but they receive no gold for the effort and can’t pass any law unless citizen message and impeachment of the Country President. What is the use of having a Dictator and a Democratically elected Government existing next to each other I wonder. Also when I flip through the political pages I see some countries have Country Presidents that are also Dictators.

I went to investigate this phenomenon and wrote each Country Government a personal message that has a dictator in place. It was a very pleasant surprise that most of the countries actually responded. Thank you very much for doing so!

Only 27 out of 74 Countries have not installed a dictator or haven’t been taken over by a hostile Dictator. As far as I can see and learned, Slovakia is under Military Takeover from Hungary, South Africans are under Lazokrats junta and Swiss are under Romanian Military Takeover by Nemesis Titanium.
Out of the 47 Countries that do have a Dictator most of them apply some sort of Democratic system to place one. I won't separately quote the answer I got from various countries as most of them are basically the same. We see two different approaches in democratically chosen Dictators. The first is those countries where the CP automatically becomes Dictator. This puts a lot of trust in the elected President so the most obvious scenario is that the Presidential elections it self are firmly controlled to avoid malicious players from getting elected. The second group elects its Dictator by congress. Of course this can’t be done ingame so they organise it in other ways. A third group searches its Dictator amongst the most trusted and honoured Citizen in their Country. He is not chosen per se but deemed worthy by most if not all players in that Country.
I know from some Countries that they installed failsafes or even written something for their constitution but those are a minority. The main thing is most friendly placed Dictators are chosen democratically in some way or another and are placed there for the purpose of ruling out hostile Military Takeover.
If we look more closely at the Countries who are implying this friendly Dictatorship you will find that it is mostly small and middle size Countries. Nothing ever changes in that department I see. The little ones are still suffering from a big disadvantage not only do they get dominated and run over by the big for resources or even just to be a highway towards resources but also are vulnerable for Military Take Over as well as Political Take Over. I can even imagine that some countries that have been occupied by a big power for years on end don’t have the money that some Military Unit have in their ranks. That makes me come back to: “At first glance I can see it is expensive and it is Military Unit based. Woohoo for my deductive skills \o/”

In conclusion; I wonder how this Dictatorship addition is fair and actually contributes to the joy of playing this game. Does it really make sense to have 74 Countries in this game with a zillion small Military Units while a few strong Military Units can control most of the small Countries if they chose to do so?

Saligia

Once more the leaderboard speaks for itself. Our little group has a double output on damage on the runner up. Sad to say we have had no applications from low division players so its all big force in D4.

In two days all members who are wearing the uniforms are getting their 1g reward for doing so. If you hurry up applying and let Elynea fit you with a splendid new avatar you might still earn yourselves an easy gold coin. I will also refer to the previous article for the supply systems.

This concludes this article where once again I went exploring what has become of the game I stopped playing some time ago. Feel free to suggest topics to write about or what you like me to investigate. I got dragged back in so I might as well learn all there is to learn.
