Raw Materials industries available in V1
Dear Citizens,
Following the [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-417211.html]good response[/a] that we have received regarding the API idea we have created [a url=http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Erepublik_API]a wiki article[/a] where you can find more details about the external application system. What we can say for the moment is that a lot of new modules and features will be created outside of Erepublik but stay connected with it.
In v1 we will also have available new economical domains and most important of all will be the introduction of raw materials. Labor and raw materials will be needed in order to create final products like food, weapons and so on. For example, if you are the manager of a hospital company, you will also need to buy stone from the marketplace. Citizens will be able to create specific companies in order to extract the raw materials with the help of their workers.

stone was in Age of Empires 1 which is from prehistoric age, i think that ferro-concrete for hospitals or bricks for houses will more suitable for 21st century
but i think that raw materials is good idea and it will broaden opportunities of game

@yehovilia: We took this into consideration and we will come up with a system that will improve the game experience of the Citizens.
Please take into account that in order to support new industries new active players will be needed. If the population will not encrese current companies will lose some of their employees and many companies will fail!!!
@Manthess: You are right but consider that you will need a company which will gather these raw materials. Stone, Iron, wood is consider a raw material, but ferro-concrete or bricks are not very raw, if you know what I mean.

@Manthess. remember this is \'only\' V1 - perhaps in future versions there will be intermediate levels of production. so Stone => Bricks => Houses
@yehovilia - you\'re right, which is why we are really going to need to have a better wiki, better tutorials and ingame instruction and tools for people to use. otherwise it\'s going to be too tricky for people to get into the game

As Kaleb said, the introduction of raw materials will probably start a new era (a famous builder, I dunno lol )

Won\'t everything stop functioning for a few days when this is introduced? Unless companies stockpile products. Mabye you should give every company some free raw materials at first.
A while ago we were promised that routine things like training and working would \'be much more fun\', any news on that?

What I\'d like to see in V1 is more for the everyday citizen to do in order to advance in society; things like volunteer programs and community involvement.
maybe you should add a special product for each group of countries, like oil in pakistan, indonesia , so every country should have a special product, so that the inflation can take effect... right now i don\'t see any effect of an inflation in erepublik because every country has ability to produce each product by themselves .
yanezu:i think you will see more inflation depending on currency rate as soon as erep. country economy will be more \'open\', but this require some sort of \'country specialization\', course if you have only 4-5 product this cannot happen:once there will be more kinds of good(for example row material) it may happen we\'ll see this things growing on its own.adding \'exclusive natural resources\' will surely affect this trend, but i hope every country(and every region) will have,\'at least\' some amount of every row materials, in order not benefit too much one region instead of another one.
may be you may add different cost of \'extracting\' row material for each different regions, uh?
@Manthess: In the 21st century there are many places where stone is used to build houses. In the place where I\'m from, granite is used quite often, and roofs are made of slates which are also stone.

i suspect YES not only \"more quantity\" but maybe, just like petroleum, there will be some particular raw material that could be ONLY in some places and not in others...maybe not in v1 but i think the aim is that one..to allow more strategical level of conquering, not only for BEING UBER...but for special materials... IMHO

It\'s great and all but some workers in certain industries identify themselves as something other than the name of the industry. For example I have always worked in the hospital industry but identified myself as a doctor. Now with the upcoming changes I might one day wake up and discover that now I will be forced to be categorized as a construction worker. And thats not a pretty thought.

Its not a \"bug\" so to speak. A cronjob is a script that is executed every x minutes by the server, automatically. Most likely they screwed up the time intervals.
