Norway vs Netherlands
Joshua Morriseau
Whatever happened to the relationship between Norway and the Netherlands? We used to be great friends. Ive had the opportunity to work as both CP of the NL and work with the Norwegian Government, and work in the Norwegian Government with the Netherlands. Things went south when the Netherlands found itself moving closer to Poland and leaving old friends behind.
But you must look at it from their perspective. They were constantly wiped, the population was extremely hard to build because of the perma-wipe, the community was virtually dying. The Dutch fought for a very long time against Poland, but really...what can you do. It was a David vs Goliath story except that this Goliath could not be beat. I do not blame anyone for what happened. I myself left the NL after being their during the perma-wipe. eLife was just not fun anymore.
What I do take issue though is the toxic air that has come about since our nations going to war. Some people seem to forget this is just a game and at the end of the day we all want the same thing, to see our nations succeed. But that success doesn't have to come at the personal expense of others. Its time to stop taking personal digs at each other. And it is definitely time to stop blaming people for things they never did. Whatever M.d.R did or didn't do in the NL has absolutely nothing to do with the good citizens of Norway.
That is why I want to issue a challenge to the people of Norway and the Netherlands.
Joshua's Challenge: Shut up, be nice, and take your frustrations out on the battle field.
As always don't forget to V,S&S!
Kind Regards,
Joshua Morriseau

Hail Norway o7
Well said!
The Netherlands tried to get into Asgard. After a few failed attempts, we turned to another alliance. And yes, that means we're in opposite alliances now.
We have nothing against Norway or its citizens, it's just that our allies expect us to participate, so we do...
This whole notion of not being let into Asgard really needs to die already. It always seems thats what it comes back to. I was in the NL when we tried to get in the first time...to put that into perspective I have been in Norway for 2 years now...and Norway tried very hard to get the NL into Asgard.
So how does not being let into Asgard make it OK to launch personal attacks everywhere?
And the NL is not in an alliance. The North Sea Aggression Pact is nothing more than a mere treaty that came about out of convenience. If I remember correctly the NL was not allowed to join Aurora either?
I know Norway was always in favour of letting eNL into Asgard. This friendship enabled some of our leading citizens, amongst whom yourself to make the move, which noone had a problem with. And which I still have no problems with.
Regarding your second paragraph: I do not defend any personal attacks. I have no problems with any individuals, and I fully agree with your article.
Regarding your last paragraph:
You are correct that Aurora wanted to side-track us into a new sister alliance, which would probably end up being meaningless. So since that time, we are in pro-Sirius. See also http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/alliances/8. I would call it an alliance, although we're not a part of the big alliance.
The NSPP is indeed a treaty, not an alliance. But it is built on friendship, neighbourhood, and similarity in alliance. Belgium and the Netherlands are pro-Sirius, the UK is Sirius, and the Germarkian Union is Aurora. eNL definitely respects its treaties, and as such we were dragged into this war.
Bringing up that fact that we didn't get into Asgard is just a historical explantion to what happened between our to countries that we are at war now. The very question you start your article with. If we were part of the same alliance, we (probably) wouldn't have ended up on the other side of the battlefield and there wouldn't have been a war at all. So if you don't want to hear the fact that we didn't get accepted into asgard over again, you just shouldn't ask the question why it came to be like this in the first place, because that is just answer you are going to get.
And I completely second the message in this article about acting more sportsmanlike. What would be nice is if people at the very top gave a proper example. At the last article of your CP he quickly mentions a NE by the PL/UK puppet. I'm getting sick and tired of that statement, and you can't really expect our citizens to give a nice reply to that.
I've seen you and Jasper taking that out of your shoutes, sure hope that works for the rest as well 🙂
@djirtsdew: you say "We have nothing against Norway or its citizens" then how would you call this? http://tny.cz/98cba768 ?
That looks like one of the most diplomatic declarations of war I've ever read... Very formal.
If you ask me, the first reason is the only relevant one.
But indeed you as Norwegian citizen are mentioned in reason 2. I think it might have been better to remove that reason, as I would definitely not go to war over such a dispute. After all that is nothing between our nations, only between eNL and you.
I don't even know what he means.😁
I just did my job, and the second reason was suggested by Odan 😛
Comes to your bad memory. But yeah succes with stealing the norwegian treasury this time 🙂
cought with his hands in the cookie jar!
For two years we stood up against Poland. It resulted in nothing for us, because we have limited population and limited regions anyway. We asked for help from what we thought were our friends, the Asgard countries. Yes, Norway wanted us in, yet the other 'friends' thought it may anger Poland, and they were too afraid to extend their hand when we needed it most.
We even stood up against Poland when we were blatantly on our own, asking for help, crying for help.
Times changed now. We have a good understanding with Poland. No doubt they got tired of our continuous RW's too. We help them, they help us.
And now that we have recalibrated our loyalties, suddenly there's this big cry about 'friendship'. Yes, we have no hard feelings towards the Norwegian people. They ARE our friends. Yet, this is a game and Asgards chance has passed, twice, if not more.
For now, we will be fighting alongside our friends from the UK and Poland. We have done it before and we will do it again.
Tough luck that you are our only attackable neighbor, just like its tough luck that we have oil.
To Valhall!
"Whatever M.d.R did or didn't do in the NL has absolutely nothing to do with the good citizens of Norway."
Well........you did elect him as CP which would suggest that eNorwegians endorse his character and are untroubled by (or perhaps) his past actions and decisions.
If Norway for example elected Dapper or BA then the UK would see that as your nation being the type of nation that endorses theft and PTOing and therefore a nation in need of remedial attention.
remedial attention.... whahaha
Eh? If you want to go the way of character assassination, there are others in the eNL who have a lot more to answer for than what MdR was accused of. Members of the current eNL government included. But I guess it is more convenient for a eUK citizen to incite than sticking to the less interesting facts?
I don't know the pertinent facts or the issues that are personnaly attached to MdR.
My statement was an objective and detached statement based on precedent and generics.
Oh really?
yeah right
Spot on.
This comment seems to come up a lot as well. If you noticed last month, I ran against him, and won. This month he won by 2 votes, so NO not all Norwegians endorse him and the NGP was the only party to field a candidate against him.
That and the majority of Norwegians have absolutely no idea what even happened with him in the NL. For all they know, he just moved here. Only people who are involved in politics would even have an idea of what happened. So stop trying to hold other people responsible for a mans actions who had nothing to do with it.
>>"which would suggest that *the majority of *eNorwegians endorse his character
*Fixed
Like Ive said, only people politically active would even know what he did. I think its time for you to get over it. If someone you know does something terrible, does that mean Im going to all the sudden track you down and kick your ass?
Guilty by association.
So the politically active/leaders of Norway knew this might be an issue and decided the plebians need not know or they couldn't be arsed to inform them?
I still don't know what "actions" or "depts" they mean. It's just all BS.
What he did is not my issue. I don't hold you accountable for what your room mate does, don't do it to me.
Not saying you personally are accountable for his past actions just that by a democratic majority, your nation is.
That is simply probably the most retarded statement I have ever read on Erepublik before.
Implying that the majority of Norway is to blame for him paying for mercenaries with the Dutch treasury without Congress approval while he lived in the Netherlands and had next to no contact with Norway at the time makes you the most ignorant person I have encountered here. Good luck in your future, your going to need it.
Don't worry Joshua!
I am already stationed in eNorway to help you buy some time while the MPP with eJapan is being signed. And when it does, we will come in force to assist you as best as we can! 😁
Don't worry we are only helping you against a PTO in your country. We will do it freely, no problem
And the entire message just passed over your head....
We idd used to be great friends, but we all decided to go different paths. This brought us against eachother. I do have great respect for most people of Norway, so don't forget eRep is a Game.
Let's have some fun on the battlefield!
On MdR, you guys have chosen someone with a history for President. Your own choice. Don't forget MdR has a history with wiped countries. Hope that not to happen with your country. 😉
I am going to copy one of my earlier comments as once again this statement has come up.
"This comment seems to come up a lot as well. If you noticed last month, I ran against him, and won. This month he won by 2 votes, so NO not all Norwegians endorse him and the NGP was the only party to field a candidate against him.

I dont take lightly to backstabbing traitors. Actions speak louder than words and when Netherland attacked Norway it was utterly disrespectful. I will never forget.
@Jasper Zuidema
Read again, before you go and like a comments that calls one side "backstabbing traitors"
"That is why I want to issue a challenge to the people of Norway and the Netherlands.
Joshua's Challenge: Shut up, be nice, and take your frustrations out on the battle field. "
I'm not going to "shut up" and be "nice". Netherland do not deserve that pleasure.
Come on bATRA...
I can clearly say i do not accept this challenge...
Well great message, unfortunately so few that will follow it.
As to the question why this could have happened, simple choices that have been made by both countries have lead to this one can talk all about blame but both countries have made decisions they thought best for their country at one point or a other and result is we are caught up in a conflict specifically between 2 alliances and we are each on a other side this was bound to happen.
I understand fully why each nation has done what its done, out of necessity, out of survival. Our nations are to small to not have taken the actions we did. But that doesn't mean we cannot restore a proper decorum between us as citizens.
Unfortunately however, I believe you are right by looking at some of the comments. Very few will follow it.
It all goes back to our twice denial to join Asgard.
Both sides made their choices that day.
then you should be so brave to NE Sweden or Finland, as those were the countries that denied eNL's membership, not Norway!
Not a problem fighting either of them, however I think UK and Germany have that covered.
