Military Coup in Turkey

ISTANBUL — The prime minister of Turkey said on Friday night that factions of the military had attempted a coup. It was not immediately clear who was in control of the country, a NATO member, which has been convulsed by military takeovers at least three times over the past half-century.
“Some people illegally undertook an illegal action outside of the chain of command,” Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said in comments broadcast on NTV, a private television channel. “The government elected by the people remains in charge. This government will only go when the people say so.”
Reuters reported in a short series of bulletins that the military had issued a statement saying it had “taken over” for “democratic order” and that “all existing foreign relations will continue.”
The state-run Anadolu News Agency said hostages had been taken at military headquarters in Ankara, the capital, including the chief of staff.
The whereabouts of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has dominated politics in Turkey for many years and has sought to establish a firm control over the military, was not immediately clear.
Military forces shut two bridges over the Bosporus in Istanbul, and fighter jets were seen flying over Istanbul and Ankara, the capital. The main airport in Istanbul was reported to have halted flights.
Mr. Yildirim said security forces had been called in to “do what is necessary,” according to Reuters.

Just read it on BBC news.
While I am not a big fan of President Erdogen and a lot of his actions, a military coup hardly ever ends well.
I hope you and your friends are safe and all this ends peacefully.
A great theater!! In fact, it did not coup. Erdogan is a dictator. False coup was suppressed , supposedly. And Erdogan was GOD in the eyes of public. I feel bad for my public 🙁
President Erdogan fled . He said to public: "take to the streets!!" Civilians and soldier in street. pit someone against someone
I have been watching it on the news. while it is hard to see the truth, since he is in control of most Turkish news companies. However it is surprising he called for the people to take to the streets (unarmed people against guns?) yet he bans any public gathering while he is in power.
But many people think it is a false coup so he can suppress the military. As he said in his TV address he will "clean up" the military... only 1 yr after the last lot he tried clean up were released due to false evidence.
Democratic freedoms are being eroded away, yet the West wont say anything because they need Turkey and Erdogan blackmails the EU and Nato.

It was 100% scenario of Erdogan.
In military coup the first thing what army should do is to arrest all head of departments, president and prime minister not to block bridges.
