I checked my sources in Asteria. Most of them didn't even know of this deal. The deal wasn't discussed in their HQ, their periodic meets or the circulars. It was so low key that now that a situation such as this arises, they will say not enough people were informed.

You had to publish the deal to let Canadian public know. It is a shame that we have to find out about it from UK media. There was no referendum held to as much as ask if people were ok with it. Govt spends more time talking to enemies than their own people. Not cool.

The deal looks bad on us. We shouldn't be making such deals that puts us in jeopardy. 17k cc doesn't even buy a combat stash. Some of our allies can make excuses and stay away. That would cost us much more.

Fyrom and Croatia never should have been trusted. That was obvious atleast to me or anyone that would just think about strategy from their POV.

Canada did not sign a NAP with FYROM we signed a rental agreement to avoid being wiped while spending money without results. We were draining damage off the more important campaigns that Asteria/LETO was involved in (eg. Spain and Poland wipes among others) so we decided to take one for the team. We KNEW they would invade us after the deal was finished so we got ready, what we didn't count on was the Cro NE (unrelated to the FYROM NE) so obviously adjustments were made. Stay tuned folks over the next couple days.

As for Asteria, it's true some individuals are not happy, but I have yet to see where they won't support us? Our excellent FA team is working to reconcile these relationships with certain individuals (I mean a handful players, so very few) but as countries the Asteria/LETO alliance we are united in fighting the invaders.

And yes, guess what not everyone is happy, but we did what we had to do. Putting Canada first is something we've done in the past that hasn't worked out (see dead bromance) so we put allies first. It's not that hard to see, but any problem WILL be solved, don't you worry CG 😉

The "charter" should have been revised long since to allow LETO nations free reign to independently determine who they NAP and who they don't. It's just a shame no LETO HQ ever got round to that, I'm as much to blame as anyone on this score. The charter was penned pretty much before LETO even existed, so calling on some of it's article to win an argument on this score is just FAIL. The charter as it applies to LETO is an unpleasant, undemocratic little incumbrance, nothing more.

Spain happened much later. It was a blessing in disguise or they were considering joining Croatia for a gang attack. They were iffy but USA put a plug on it. Didn't see Croat NE coming. That is just incompetence. It would be very stupid for them to not have that plan right from the beginning.

Best case scenario would have been trying to stop Croatia right when they attacked Brazil and not letting China go. But yeah I know Croatia better.

Argentina was busy with Poland. But not even an effort was made to stop Croats. That is a pity. No noise was made. Instead a vomit inducing deal was signed. UK MoD was made the middleman. The decision made by Dill and his FA team, while incredibly unpalatable, saved us from going broke and being wiped, and from draining a large amount of damage from allies' battles. And it was okayed by LETO executives. At no point were we playing pals with FYROM, and our alliance knows it.

First up, Canada is in LETO, not Asteria, so all the flushing in the world is unlikely to change anything. And to:

As a former multi-term LETO HQ member and LETO country CP, I can assure everyone that Dil is roundly respected in Asteria/LETO circles and that he did a stellar job (sometimes annoyingly so) during his first tenure as Canadian CP. And that the good opinion of him remains unchanged.
