Hi, so everyone pretty much figured out I'm MikeBane months ago. That was cool. Well, then I moved across the country and have found myself with a lot of responsibilities and real life opportunities. I was inactive for some months and then re-activated my profile one day while I had one long night and just happened to remembered I had an eRepublik account and what eIreland was up to.
I may be wholly ignorant because of my continuing inactivity, but I feel like not only eIreland but eRepublik as a game has been totally destroyed. It's like the heart of the game was ripped out and devoured into nothing but the admin's own shit. I'll cool it down now though, not trying to hate too much. If I remember anything about eRep other than my grandiose plans for eIreland's first democratic Presidential Committee experiment that was possibly one of the first ever implemented in eRep before that time and my self proclaimed ideology Banism and Neo-Banism; it's that there is always a lot of potential in making an e-community. What made me log back in? I haven't felt like I was playing this game for almost 2 years but I stuck around because of the friends I made and also eIreland's unique societal characteristics. It was interesting observing how we all reacted, changed, and yet most never really did change. eIreland used to be kind of tough, you'd only stick around if you could take a good trolling. Even more seasoned players eventually moved or quit the game all together.
But at least it was more interesting than what I see now. Articles that are 4-9 days old still showing up on the front page, general decrease in overall population (or at least active population), and I know this game has become ultra-military based but there is no soul into what we're even fighting for. Old bonds have been broken, mended, rebroken, and nations flip-flopping alliances and it really doesn't feel like there is any international solidarity at all despite these official alliances. Maybe I am just not in the action and I'm just spouting an ignorant opinion, but I feel I'm any day away from just blocking this site so I never go on again. It's more just nostalgia now.
Wow, that got more depressing and I didn't really stop hating. Oh well. Like I said there is potential in the e-community. You just gotta build it and become more connected with all the players in the community. Reach out to all and everyone! START SOMETHING FUCKING INTERESTING!

Welcome to eIreland!
We have many services for new players like yourself. Ian E CoIeman runs a series of tutorial articles you should read. An Sluagh runs the state military you may be interested in joining.
Yep, you're pretty much right Mike. eR is on a downward curve.

In a wretched country like ireland where corruption and servility rules no wander it's boring.
The only exception, the only revolutionary force and the only moral force that stand it's ground....are Clerics.
Cleric makes things here interesting....you are welcome you spinless so-called irish society......
The biggest challenge that Ireland faces, and thus does every future CP, is to get what's left of our community to mend our nation and recruit citizens.
Erepublik is dying perhaps as is Ireland, and Ireland's RL population is sadly minute, making marketing difficult and expensive. The population of Irish-ancestry in America is difficult to target as well. All in all there aren't many media opportunities out there, and in my experiences only a small handful of RL Irish in this game care to get off their butts and attempt to do something.
Taxes mean nothing if there's nobody to tax. Wars mean nothing if there's nobody to fight. Businesses mean nothing if there's nobody to work. Our only solution is to shift our focus to other online communities and games and recruit.
