Government Update

Greetings Australia! This update is posted from the ADD org because the Department of Information is currently in NZ. sir_c0nstant is trying to get it fixed with admin.

The Government has been busy during the last week, there is plenty of work to be done. Here is a brief summary of recent happenings:

1. Aussie Bloke has resigned from his position of Minister of Defence due to real life commitments. He has been replaced for the remainder of the term by Flatty.

2. The land swap with New Zealand is now complete. The government swapped Tasmania for Otago which now supplies Australia with an iron region, and supplies NZ with a cattle region.

3. All Australian military are able to obtain regular supplies by visiting the #ADF-supply channel in IRC. They can also visit #adf for orders and other general information, or visit the forums

4. The budget is tracking ahead of expectation with higher tax revenue. As such the Government expects to only print $20,000 this term, down from the budgeted $40,000. The Government is aware of the Money Market crash but this is mainly due to changes in the game mechanics which have placed added value on gold (removal of treasure maps and introduction of multiple opportunities to work for company General Managers).

5. Import taxes for weapons, food and moving tickets have been increased to 15% and VAT to 5% due to the GM changes.

6. The 25 gold loan from Sam Cougar last term has been repaid.

7. Australia currently has MPPs with USA, Romania, China, Poland and Bulgaria. USA and Romania are under renewal talks presently. The Government thanks Sam Cougar for a 100g donation to MPPs.
