Un día como hoy, 12 de febrero de 1818, Chile firmó su declaración de independencia de España!

Pero aunque la mayoría de los países que celebran su independencia, lo hacen en la fecha en que se declararon independientes, Chile no lo celebra hoy...









Nada de esto ocurrirá hoy.



...Sino que lo celebramos el 18 de Septiembre.

La razón oficial de ésto es que, cuando Fernando VII, Rey de España, fue tomado prisionero por Napoleón, las ciudades españolas desconocieron al rey impuesto por los franceses y comenzaron a armar Juntas de Gobierno, que llevarían la administración mientras el rey legítimo estuviese ausente. Este proceso fue replicado en las, en ese entonces, colonias españolas en América, incluyendo a Chile.

Este evento ocurre en Chile el 18 de septiembre de 1810, y se considera como el comienzo del proceso de independencia, y es por esto que se ha elegido esta fecha.

Como podrán apreciar, esto es un poco extraño, esta junta era presidida por un realista de tomo y lomo, y su razón de ser era respetar la corona española, ¿Cómo puede esto considerarse independentista?

La verdad es que en febrero generalmente estamos de vacaciones, y como a los chilenos nos gustan tanto los días libres, se decidió ocupar una fecha que estuviese en los 3/4 del año y se buscó algún hecho con alguna relación, para no ser tan obvios.

Y por eso declaramos nuestra independencia el 12 de Febrero, pero la celebramos en Sedtiembre 😛

Sé que es el artículo menos endieciochado del mundo, pero podría ser el más Endoceado, si tu quieres!

A day like today, on February 12th 1818, Chile signed its declaration of independence from Spain!

This process was repeated in the spanish colonies in América by that time, including our beloved Chile.

This event occurs in Chile on september 18th, 1810, and it's considered as the beginning of the emancipation process, and this is why this date has been used for celebrating.
