Epic moments in aviation - Part 1

Day 2,468, 15:48 Published in Romania Argentina by L E V I A T A N

Hi there, after a long time and forced by this missions, I'm writing again.

Some of my friends know that I'm a huge fan of aviation, in fact, I'm taking lessons to be a pilot. So this article will contain some images from different airplanes in their day by day, enjoy!

(images are not in full size so you don't have to wait to much to see all the pictures, if you want to see it bigger, just click the one you like 😉 )

1- Common dangerous approach over Kai Tak.

Back in the 90's this was a common situation over the Hong Kong airport. To be able to land, the pilots had to flight trough buildings and make a tight approach. "No room for error". The airport is currently closed and the main Hong Kong Airport is "Chek Lap Kok" located in an artificial island.

2- Close approach between two airplanes over San Francisco.

At first sight this photo seems to be fake, right? but truth is that they are landing on different runways that are parallels. This is a common situation on San Francisco when two airplanes are landing on runways 28L (Left) and 28R (Right). There is about 750ft (228 meters) of distance between both airplanes.

3- Rotate...ROTATE!

An awkward situation happened on Phuket Airport in Thailand when this Ilyushin Il-86 elevated at the very end of the runway. The reasons could by windtail (you need more distance to take-off), Overweight or the runway was too short for this big badass russian plane.

4- I'll eat you!

Funny momment between this jumbo jet (Boeing 747) and Cessna 150 (this is the one I fly!) when taxing in Ostend airport (Belgium).

5- It's a nice day to go to the beach! wait...what is that? OMG!

I know what you're thinking! but it's not fake. What seems to be a crazy low pass is just a normal approach through Princess Juliana airport, in the island of Saint Maarten (Netherlands Antilles).

6- Uh, sir? we have a tail strike!

What seems to be a big fail is nothing but an intentional tail strike, this test was made to certificate the Airbus A340-600 (in this case, performed to know the minimum take-off speed). What it looks like fire is just a special paint to reproduce a real tail strike.

7- What the hell is that?

Again, it's not fake. This ugly friend called Beluga is based on an Airbus A-300. The purpose of this bird is to transport big parts of airplanes such as entire fuselages, or wings.

8- Meanwhile...in Russia.

By now you may think I'm a big liar, but this photo ain't fake 😃 They are just skilled pilots from the russian acrobatic squadron "Russkiye Vityazi" (Russian Knights).

9- Engineering level: God

You're looking at Chek Lap Kok, the current Hong Kong airport. It's hard to believe that the island wasn't there before, and you can see how big it is! 🙂

10- Here's the superstar!

It seems the Airbus A-380 is catching all the looks at Munich airport, want to know why? this "little" bird is the biggest passenger airplane in service! but you just can't ignore the massive amount of Lufthansa airplanes parked at the terminal. german power!

Well, this is enough for today. I appreciate your time! Soon I'll bring you the 2nd part. If you want to know more or you have any doubt you can PM me 🙂
