Domestics: Sensible solutions

Day 1,382, 19:40 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Kevy Kev Kev Junior shabado

Good news, no more of my graphics from now on.

Hello eUK.

Welcome to my Domestics manifesto. As stated in my previous article I am going to release three manifestos over the next few days with this one being the first, economics next and finally military/foreign affairs. Keep an eye on the UK media to view these or if you want to find them easily I’d suggest subscribing to the paper.

Before I get into the details I’d like to thank the People’s Communist Party who have decided to support me this month. Whenever I run I always try to consult most of the major parties in the UK and they have been very helpful and have given feedback on what were my preliminary ideas at the time. I can’t thank you enough for the support and I’m looking forward to the 5th.

As the image suggests, TL😉R is down below. I've reduced the amount of waffle in the text too.

Domestics is my strongest area since I have been MoHA three times. This month under Thorrold I think we have a solid structure for the MoHA. I don’t want to change the department set up but I do want to make a few tweaks and introduce a system to try and keep it as active as I possibly can.

The first thing to a successful term for entertainment is to make sure that things are actually available to do from the start. One of my main issues with last month was that there were 0 forum games up until the 28th August. That is 23 days into the term and unacceptable. If I were elected I would make sure that there is a steady stream of games to be put up throughout the month. So far after collaborating with other former MoHAs we have a list of about ten of games that is a mix of old and new.

The forum games themselves will follow a strict schedule and a flexible budget based upon how popular they are. At the moment I have decided that I want at least four forum games out a week so that we can keep people happy.

Another thing I’d like to tweak would be forum awards. As you will be aware this month we were given a new version of forum awards (17 days after the term had started may I add) in which only newer citizens can get GBP rewards. I feel like this really goes against what the original forum awards were for which was to reward members from all areas of our forum community. If I am elected I promise to bring back the three tier section for forum awards so everyone in the forum community can take part. I do however agree with some of the issues that arose with the original and I will be looking into focusing mainly on the younger players since they need the GBP the most. All of the forum awards along with the new ones we have planned will be discussed properly before being released so we can be sure they are balanced and not over the top or too little.

Once again these forum awards will have a budget, but it will scale on how popular the thread actually is. Please note though that although a lot of people will claim GBP the figure will look insignificant when compared to other things we spend the country’s money on. The schedule for releasing awards will be discussed before released but I’d like to release them in
bunches every few days over the term.

If it’s one thing I’ve learnt from some people over the last few weeks, constant media will get you noticed. The next point is somewhat a change of heart from what I did in my last term as MoHA but it resembles a change to the UK Today (Which I invented almost a year ago by the way when it was called domestic orders) that I think you will all think is well overdue.

The current system for UK Today is an article every three days that includes the same template (Important links) and a small summary of what is going on in the UK. I think that these could be drastically changed to make them a bit more worthwhile reading. Currently they only get 20-30 votes and a lot of these votes are from the same already active people. If I am elected I will look to change the content in UK today to include the following
-The latest CP update (Excluding the Ministers report)
-A ‘Tip of the day’
-Adverts for UK Gov schemes + articles
-Acknowledgement of uMs and Apprentices and weekly prizes, likewise of players who have won a lot of forum awards

Of course the current content will be included, but I feel that expanding that with the above points will make the articles worth reading again.
The education department is not quite complete without the Library section. I’ve been fairly disappointed with Beta this month over the failed promise of publishing a lot of the older library articles. If I were elected as CP I would obviously continue with the library project but I would set up a schedule of at least two articles per week, be they either new or updated articles.

One thing that I would like to keep the same if I were elected is the current mentoring system. Top Hat Harry has done a great job I this month and the scheme is very popular. I thought I’d just briefly mention Wiki here as well; we seem to have some newer skilled people in the MoHA right now who seem to be doing a great job. My plans for the wiki the month if I am elected are to complete the basics and reassess the situation from there.

The final education scheme doesn’t actually come from me, it comes from a former MoHA Talon Karrde and as I liked the idea so much I’ve decided to use it if I win. This would be a Stats article based upon the eUK that will show opinions, trends, preferences, population, party, % of multis / bans and more. I’m a sucker for stat articles and I know a lot of others are to so I hope it’s popular.

I mentioned acknowledging uMs and apprentices above in the UK today article plans. I want to make the MoHA feel as if it’s more of a fun task instead of an unrewarding thing to do. It is no secret that the MoHA is usually the laziest ministry in the later weeks of a term and I hope that publicising successes of uMs and Apprentices and giving them some rewards in return could help us through to the end.

Messaging is easily the most basic of all three departments. It doesn’t need many changes in it’s current form. The only thing that it really needs is a schedule that we can stick to. If I am elected I propose that we have three different campaigns throughout the month which are as follows:

- Daily new player messaging
- Weekly (if needed) campaigns to the active population to advertise key events
- Week old gun programme (see below)

I feel that these campaigns are all that we need to have a successful month in the messaging department. As long as we can keep sending PMs out to people on time we shouldn’t have an issue.

I’ve mentioned “Week old gun programme” as an option in the above list. It’s something I want to introduce if I am elected. The MoHA will check to see which players who signed up a week ago are still “Active” (Who are still working/fighting) after that time. The majority of people who quit this game usually do so after a day. Rewarding people who have managed to survive a week and stay active should be encouraged if we are ever going to improve our retention rate long term.

A few of the ideas don’t really fit into particular departments so I thought I’d include them here.

If I am elected I would expect the MoHA to report to me every day with a small summary of what they achieve every day. There is plenty of work to be done on a day to day basis so in reality there should be something to report on. Of course the weekly reports will still continue and be used in the PM’s report every week.

My final point has been mentioned a lot, specifically in the Entertainment bit but I thought I’d put it here too. I’d like to set out a budget at the start of the term with the MoHAs. To figure out how much we’ll set I’m going to be looking at figures from past months along with my own knowledge of being MoHA myself in the past.

Although not necessarily domestic ministrys I thought I'd mentioned that my only plans for the current MoTech and MoLA is to continue on with what they have been doing for a while. The MoTech has a long term goal whereas the layout of the MoLA's job never changes.

Thanks for reading this article. Next up is Economics which will be published tomorrow.
